Decent examples of s2ks are at times selling for well above 20k. Even if you pick one up for 12-18k, it's just not worth it for what you're getting. For the money, I would rather have a Porsche Boxster desu
>>
>>16977592
Those aren't under $20k. They seemed to be headed that direction a few years ago, but are now creeping up into the mid 30s.

The S2000s are rising to 30k too, so OP should just buy a C5Z.

Its not. Any 350z with HR platform will out perform $$ for $$.

S2000 is a beefed up Miata. Good platform, not as massed produced, but Z33 will out performs. I would say that the S2K is aesthetically nicer though.

I loved my S2000 but it's not perfect.

It feels fast but really isn't.
It handles well but it is not a tame car and doesn't inspire confidence, even with good rubber.

My dad owns an s2000 and I would drive it occasionally before I moved out. I love it and think it will definatly hold its value if not appreciate in the next 20 years. being the only rwd Honda (besides nsx).
I don't think it feels all that fast unless you really get the revs up. Maybe that's part of the appeal tho

it has no tendencies, pretty neutral thats the best starting point you can ask for.

This. Or if you want some comfort in your mid-engined sports car, pic related.
>>
>>16978178
It's nowhere nearly as tame as a E36 M3, 944/968, RX8, or even a GT86. It's fast and responsive but twitchy at the limit and unforgiving past it (why a lot of them end up getting crashed). The AP2's suspension improvements were made for a reason.

>>16978063
It's Honda's Boxster/Z4 competitor so yes. A lot of people don't realize they were $40,000 brand new which was a lot for a 240hp car in the mid 00s when Evos and STis were making waves giving you 300hp for $30,000.
>>
>>16977634
>S2000s are gaining value, so don't buy one
Am I reading this right?
>>
>>16978285
It's a far that's pointlessly gaining value. It's good for $12-15k, but at $20k I'm shopping for E46 M3s, Evos/STis, GT86s, and C5 Corvettes.

At $25k I'm looking at C6 Corvettes, Elises, and 987 Cayman/Boxster S
>>
>>16978302
Any car that is actually gaining value is a good investment. I probably wouldn't spend $20K either, as I would argue that values will start plummeting soon, but if you're right that it will go up, definitely get one. That's making money by driving a cool car.

do S2000s have seasonal price points like a Miata? if it means me being able to buy a MY04-06 40-60k for 13-15 grand in the winter as suppose to 17k to 21k for the good colors like GPW and Rio yellow in the other 3 seasons, I'd rather just wait it out. the s2ki classifieds keep getting more and more expensive every visit

The AP2 is tame. The AP1 is unforgiving of driver errors like abrupt inputs or lifting the throttle, and it has a bump steer problem that you alleviate by either aligning the wheels with lots of static toe in or by getting one of the dozen or so kits designed to reduce toe change on bumps.

Grand tourers are designed for comfort and for transporting 4+ people. The Z has 2 seats very firm suspension for world class grip and braking performance.

I don't have to go to Nissan's website because I own a 370Z with LSD and no luxury features. I have the base model with the sport package, so it has manual cloth seats, a single disc CD player with no nav. I also has fixed piston brakes front an rear, front and rear spoilers, 19" alloys a rev matching 6 speed, and a viscous LSD.
>>
>>16984277
Type R design philosophy was changed so they are not the same

Leather, push button start, automatic climate controls are all the main essences of a luxury car

I guess you believe the GTR isn't a luxury car either? lol

>>
>>16984313
Just because there are cars out there with more tech than your 91 Miata, doesn't mean they can't be sports cars. I suppose you think airbags are "luxury" items too.
>>
>>16984372
electric adjustable leather and push button ignitions are luxury features

deal with it
>>16984370
It's a luxury performance car

only a fool would consider the gigantic premium leather tech monster to be a small nimble sports car
>>
Fact is, if your car is riddled with useless technology and luxuries it's not a real sports car. Look at Type R's if you want to see what a sports car should be. The S2000 is probably the best balance between sports and luxury. You get comfy leather interior, push button start, open top etc but also a race-spec engine that revs all the way to 9k and a chassis inspired by racing cars. Lotus is also a good example. And of course, a lightly modded AE86. GT86 on the other hand is tainted by modern design trash and thus is garbage
>>
>>16984414
You find me a new Lamborghini that doesn't have push button start and power leather seats.

It's like the S2000. A balanced sporty car with luxury features. Pic related is an example of a pure sports car. Devoid of almost all sound deadening, A/C and CD/FM are options on this car, etc

When thinking of a sports car, think of something that is only about the driving experience itself. Again, there are almost no pure sports cars on the road. Driving a gutted race car simply isn't what most want to do. Even Tsuchiya himself had A/C and CD/FM on his NSX Type R
>>
>>16984555
So does this and it's 300lbs lighter, while still having plenty of luxury features (comfy leather interior, removable top, air conditioning, etc)
>>
>>16984562
What makes the Silvia a sports car and the Z not? Is it the engine? Can a sports car only have a four cylinder?

And why is there such a huge conspiracy and cover up among automotive journalists? They claim the Z is a sports car, but according to you they're lying.

>>
>>16984591
>small
>nimble/ high maneuverability
>minimum weight

These are the 3 boxes the majority of performance, super-sport, and exotic cars don't check usually because the manufacturer cut costs on weight or increased the size of the wheelbase to allow for taller drivers (think horse jockeys on race horses). Don't be disappointed though, because sports cars are at the bottom of the hierarchy.

supercar> exotic> super-sport/GT> sport

The AP1 revs up to 9k, the AP2 to about 8.2k
2000rpm is a lot. Besides, the car has a close ratio 6 speed, you'll always be in the powerband if you know how to fucking drive.
