hello, while searching the internet for solutions i found this forum that talks about cars
i have read the forum rules and have not seen a thread for this already
i seem to have a problem with my 1997 chevy silverado 1500. i can not make the engine go above about 2,000 rpm. i can press the gass as much as possible yet it wont go!
has anyone else ever had this problem? what seemed to fix it? i'm on a fixed income so i can not take it to a mechanic
cheers

(pic is of me in high school. LOL!)
Are you sure that's not just the red line limiter kicking in
Seems like a reasonable top end for a truck

Do a compression test

but it could also be a fueling issue so do a fuel pressure test as well first
i have had her up to 4,000 before. because of this i can't shift past 2nd. fastest im going is 40 mph ish.
maybe the sheriff did it because he couldn't catch me LOL
i will try a compression test. i used to do those on tractors i helped my pa on. thank you
If your fuel pressure is fine it might be your injectors.
