Gets some, I used to have a 370z which pulled in way more attention however the people who do talk to me about the 335i seem way more interested in it than my 370z when I had the 370z.

It's mostly just people who are impressed that it's a BMW although I occasionally find some people who actually know what the fuck a[n e92] 335i is and respect it as what it is; a good combination of luxury and fun and overall successful jack of trades

Probably was also some dude ragging on it for not being an M3 to impress his GF with his übermensch levels of automotive knowledge at some point

it is a really nice looking car imo. the main reason i really dont want it anymore is its euro and expensive as hell for repairs and maintenance. i havent had anything go wrong with it since ive owned it really besides the chirp from one of the pulleys and it squeaks when i make a slow left turn. other than that it gets pretty good gas mileage and its small and has a lot of space. however it has a turbo on it and i DD it less than 5 miles a day to each stop, so ive been slowly killing it since i got it. didnt know i was until about a week ago but i am. didnt know you shouldnt do short distance driving in a diesel, especially one with a turbo.

The turbos are problematic in general but the HFPF especially likes to shit itself, it gets some looks and people talking to you but nothing too much. I've driven Lambos and McLarens before [obviously not owning them] and holy fuck the attention got old fast.

Honestly I'm looking at it now, the best you'll get for 10k is an 07-08 328i with 90-100k miles and even then I wouldn't trust one with that high mileage personally. If we're talking 335i, the cheapest ones ado go down to about 10k but given the mileage, reputation with reliability, them being out of warranty etc. I would HIGHLY advise against it as it's guaranteed to be a money pit.

If you really want a BMW, save up and/or look at a 328i/E46 for now but even then I'd budget up to 15k

My friend bought one at 110k miles or so for like 10k, meth injected it and a couple other things but never upgraded the fuel pump internals from what I remember. So it would have likely blew up on him? He totaled it, wrapped it around a pole after 2 years of having it, bought another one for like 2k and swapped everything out of the crashed one into the other. Also drove it when it was stock, I wasn't too impressed. I'm not saying they're bad cars, just seemed a bit tame for something with twin turbos and 300whp stock. And the turn signals and shit annoyed the fuck out of me.

I mean you already have an unreliable engine due to turbos, forcing even more load on the turbos is just going to make that worse even if set up properly. It's not the rawest car in the world but it's reasonably fast in a straight line (4.7 seconds IIRC) and the M sport sport makes it handle reasonably well but it's still a jack of all trades; they traded some performance for comfort/luxury, tame but not boring was the goal here. Also the turn signals annoyed me on test drives but now I prefer them over regular ones

He went up to Columbus for it with a trailer from Cincy. Swapped the engine from the wrecked one the other week, everything is running fine in it right now. He wants to swap the transmission possibly too, since the new one is an auto. From what I understand, the one he picked up had the engine blown and the guy was moving to Florida the next day and still couldn't find a buyer so he just needed it gone. Did I shit on the engine? I just said the car seemed underwhelming compared my expectations. Never owned one, right but I drove his regularly (I would DD for us, I didn't drink back then) and would get on it. Still a lot of fun, just not insane like I was thinking. And it was more the car overall. I hated the way the turn signal switch worked, I hated that you had to press and hold like 3 buttons to turn off all the assists, the seat belt pushing thing would constantly fuck up and just end up getting in the way, the seats felt cheap, ect.

We turned off traction and stability a few times, he'd be trashed and would practically demand I get his car sideways (lived out in the country, it would be like 3 am in the morning so I wouldn't fuck people up).
