370Z - same price, better in every point.

The Subaru BRZ, Scion FRS, and Toyota 86 are sports cars.
You will hear a lot of people bitch they're slow. 6.9 second to 60 with a 6 speed manual isn't bad for 200 HP.
The entire point of the car isn't to be fast. It's fun. The entire point of the car is fun and how it feels. As far as sports car go, they're pretty light around 2700/2800 lbs

If you want to go fast, this is NOT the car for you. You can get a Subaru WRX, Chevy Camaro or Ford Mustang for the same price and have a much faster car.

But if you just want the most amount of fun for your money, this is the car to get.

Test drive the Toyota/Scion version before deciding. The suspension tuning is different between the Toyota and Subaru versions. The Subaru is more prone to understeer while the Toyota is more prone to oversteer. It's all personal preference.

10 reasons the BRZ/GT86/FR-S is not intended as a sports car
1) 200 hp - face it, thats fucking retarded. one thing you need in driving is power
2) no oil cooler, you can't drive at full power for prolonged time, especially with the stock 0W20 oil
3) macpherson struts - srsly? how fking retarded is this? you can't even change it lol
4) prius tires stock - enhance oversteer and makes you feel like a true race driver, but 0 performance
5) centered on oversteer - again, it's not about going fast through corners but feeling like a japanese race driver
6) 200 hp - srsly?
7) 200 hp - what the fuck is wrong with the japanese
8) worst brake pads ever, put it to the other things you should change first
9) 4 cyl boxer with no room (read 0 room) for tuning or engine failure will occur
10) 200 hp, lol,fking chrysler is faster

Don't believe the memes, it's not slow. Fast just wasn't one of the top priorities of the design. It's light, feels like a proper sportscar, is a practical and economical DD and will reach your national speed limit faster than you will ever need.

If you're not planning to race it and know how to shift past the torque dip, it's literally the perfect car.

>Considering the amount of fine tuning that went into the engineering of the Skyactiv engine range, Mazda’s engineers had to ensure that the equipment used in production would be able to deliver finely and accurately machined engine components. When it came to machining the mounting points for the engine’s camshaft, the engineers managed to design a special rig to support the long drill bit as to prevent sagging during the drilling process. It is said that this special rig is able to deliver an accuracy of between 0.015mm to 0.05mm. As for drilling valve holes in the cylinder head, Mazda’s engineers were able to improve machining accuracy and reduce variations from a mere 9.4μm to just 3μm, or 0.003mm.

To be honest, I can't see what you're on about either, he's right in that Porsche was at an all time low in that time, understandably so, considering that they had to cut cost severely to stay in business. IMS is just the tip of the iceberg, the entire interior of that time was horrendously cheap and bad, the headlights are pants on head retarded, the tiptronic was absolute horseshit and oil seal of the crank shaft was so bad half the engines leaked oil to the point where you had to put a tray under the engine in the garage.

>entire interior of that time was horrendously cheap and bad
It's ugly but no means is it cheap. Remember that interiors for earlier Porches were pretty fucking bland as well
>the headlights are pants on head retarded
Literally just kneejerk reactions from autists, the Turbo headlights were the best
>the tiptronic was absolute horseshit
As were every other automagics fitted to ports cars at the time. The NSX had to be detuned to 250bhp when paired with an automatic
>oil seal of the crank shaft was so bad half the engines leaked oil to the point where you had to put a tray under the engine in the garage.
One hell of an exaggeration, but the RMS is a $20 fix

Tfw so BTFO you have to use the "mini drivers r gey" line

Brzfags are so easy to trigger

It's funny because your engine is just as shitty.
BRB head gaskets
BRB valve cover oil leaks
BRB timing cover oil leaks
BRB pulling engine to change plugs
>>
>>16955519
The FA engine isn't the same as the old EJ my friend, keep grasping at straws though. People might start to think the Mini isn't so shitty if you keep repeating that suff

You're right, it's just gutless instead

I'm sure if I searched for a turbo kit off ebay it'd make as much power as a cooper, would probably break down just as fast too

Not quite. 4EAT equpped models were 90/10 at crusing speeds but could go 40/60 under acceleration

Yeah no, it's worse, and those are all problems inherent with high strong boxer engines friendo. I don't even own a mini faggot, keep grasping while you regret that monthly L.

They're cheaper than the cayman because they're less reliable.
Not saying Porsche's are shitty and super prone to breaking but the parts are just undeniably way more expensive when normal wear and tear does do them in.
>>
>>16956526
They're more expensive for sure, but not way more expensive that it makes them prohibitively expensive to own

I've owned an FRS since 2013, both automatic and manual versions. They feel the same to be honest, though the AT is actually pretty decent, you just cant launch the car.

Anyway both versions feel slow off the line. The gearing and how low it is to the ground makes it feel faster then it is, you really notice the lack of torque in the summer when you are on the highway and driving up hill.

The car is fun though, arguably the most fun I have ever had in a car, there is a special feeling to it when you actually sit in it - feels like sitting in a cockpit of a fighterjet, yet the performance aspect is severely lacking.

Anyway I am going to be moving on to a Camaro SS (or V6) at some point. You can buy a Camaro V6 with 335 Horsepower and a 7,500 rev limit (great sounding exhaust) that goes 0-60 in 5.1 for the same price (even cheaper) then an FRS/BRZ though the car is about 500lbs heavier.

I love the platform of the FRS/BRZ/86 but the lack of power is something you will come to hate. Great looking car, fun to fishtail, great steering feel, but it's just too damn slow.

It's like having a really hot girlfriend that has a low IQ and won't give BJ's in bed.

I bet everything 'feels the same' for a toyota driver.

>>16953275
No they don't.
The cheapest non S Cayman you can get is still 10k more than a brand new GTS 86.
