At the time of the Wranglers the park was still a safe installation. I prefer the movie because the book has so many flaws
The Book states Christine is a 1957 Fury. This would be fine if the book didn't also say she was a 4 door sedan. 1957 was 2 door hardtop only, as in the movie. A sedan wasn't available until 1958.
The book says she has a hydramatic transmission. Last I checked, Hydramatic was a GM automatic transmission. Chrysler's was called Torque-Flyte.
The book says she has a shift lever... Those automatic Chryslers didn't have a shift lever, They had a push button transmission, pic related.
So on the car info front, the movie is more accurate. Interestingly, there are some scenes in the movie you can tell they used a manual transmission car. Only 1 car used on set was a manual (it has a 3 speed on the column). It was one of the stunt cars, and is one of 2 surviving cars from the movie today.
