By the way, the language around the factory is english. Swedish and english, so if you know english thats enough. Probably speak like 50/50 of the two each day. Alot of nationalities!

>>16923432
Haha i laugh at them

>>16923437
Hmm, on extra special cars we usually get to sign the carbonfibre before its hidden under epoxy/paint etc. Nothing visible, just a fun thing to do. Say "my name is on that car" when it cruises down some rich guys road.

>>16923438
Hard question, I'd say a couple of years. But im not very into the project as mentioned before, but it looks cool this far.

>>16923442
To shit on every italian made car ever, their cars are shit. We usually make fun of them at carshows as Genvé. We queue to get into their "areas" and when they let us in, they remove all the customers first because they know we are gonna go around and search for errors on their car! :D hahah its priceless!

How is morale at your job? Is everyone freaking excited to be working there or is it a normal day-to-day?
Is it an unconventional work-environment (like at Google, or (I'd imagine) Tesla, or is it just a normal car-maker's job?
>>
Do you think the company will ever get into the cheaper supercars? Say something using tech that's like 5 years old to try and cut something out of Ferrari's lower end market?

>>16923483
Depends on who you talk to, 98% of cases are atleast better than everyday workers. Alot more morale and energy in most people, there are ALOT of overtime done by some people, ALOT! Its not easy to make these cars... far from! The tasks is "i suppose" pretty straight forward, but the product and environment is insanely much more interesting! So no, i'd not say that it is a casual job.

>>16923493
No idea. Selling engines to Spyker and Freevalve eengines into consumercars is a step on the way. But no, i dont think we will make "budget-supercars", since thats the opposite of our current mindset.

>To shit on every italian made car ever, their cars are shit.

Listen cue ball, no matter how much carbon fiber you use, how few valves you have, how many horsepowers you make, you will never have the passione. The errors are put there on purpose to make each car unique. Nobody wants a sterile laboratory car, which is why "supercar" makers from every region have come and gone except for Italy.
>>
>>16923649
Relax Flavio,
>>
>>16923649
Haha hey! Lets just say that not a single koenigsegg is has "No errors"... A car that is handcrafted ALWAYS has. Its just that your flaws are bad flaws, flaws you cannot/dont care to? fix. Its bad! Get your shit together!
>>

>>

>>
>>16923654

The flaws are just part of the package. It would be like if some Swedish outfit made a bourbon that was scientifically the best testing possible and gave you no hangover. Is it kind of cool? Sure, but people that like bourbon will still stick with Kentucky made. People who know, know. You can't make the passione in a lab, it only grows naturally in Italy.

>>
>>16923988
Left is suppose to be a jab at Keonignog's quality. right is suppose to be an example of better quality from (i think) Pagani.
>>
>>16923988

The K'egg's suspension is mande of welded tubular steel, that of the Pagani is made of milled billet aluminium (probably) and people think the milled suspension looks better so they mistakenly conclude it must also perform better.
>>
>>16924020
do i have to post the bigger picture so it shows the e.controlled dampers and not only the material?

Please do, even if only to have something nice to look at.
Do Paganis have anti-squat elements by the way? I do think in terms of suspension layout there's probably something yet to be gained by Koenigsegg but I'm not an engineer so there's really no point guessing
>>
I dont care to fight about whose the best, i admire the pagani as well. But i think its bullshit to compare a painted aluminium rod verus another bar? Does it mean shit? No hahaha. Worst fucking try to compare cars i have ever seen. Gtfo

>>16924214
Im op, and no sir im not doing that. But your way of trying to tell me pagani is perfection is just crap. Get off your fat ass and get a job at pagani then come talk to me :*
>>
>>16924262
Most cars are not 100% finished at Geneva. Thats why, we are still finishing it up, often software is the one that needs more work. Thousands of hours of coding in each car!
>>
>>16924288
>often software is the one that needs more work. Thousands of hours of coding in each car!

Individual software coding for each car? Crazy. That's some dedication right there.
>>
>>16924302

I'm guessing he meant for each model line
>>
>>16924302
>>16924309
No and yes, its pretty much individual coding. Ofcourse there are same same, but there are a shitload of stuff that is different. But ofcourse, for the new model line, its thousands of hours LEFT, and lets say we are perhaps 70% done softwarewise? And like 90% done mechanicly. Its my guess!
>>

Have you seen koenigseggs with engine failure entering the shop? If so, how many
>>
>>16924467
The "shop"? The factory and the service where cars are brought in for service are not the same building so i havent seen em. But the orange Agera Xs is in the factory now getting some work done, and both geneva regeras are work in progress as well. Only engine failure i saw was the yellow one, the youtube video of black smoke. Caused caused by leaked cooling fluid

I ran into Christian at the 2015 Geneva auto show. We happened to be alone in an elevator together, which is pretty crazy- I mean that place was packed and I don't know how it ended up just being the two of us on the elevator. Probably everyone else recognized him and was going to let him go and my oblivious ass just hopped on. We were both just minding our own business when I noticed my shoe was untied. I bent over to tie it and while I'm down there I suddenly felt hands on my back. I kinda panicked a little bit and just kept tying my shoe. He spoke, and for the first time I put two and two together and realized who he was. "You seem nervous," he said, and he started rubbing my shoulders. "Dressed like that, you have an interview, yes?" I kind of choked out a sound to the affirmative and he kept rubbing my shoulders. "Look at me," he said, and I stood up and looked him in there eye. "You're gonna do great, I know it. I believe in you." And he gave me this big, lingering bear hug. It was amazing. I hugged him back. At this point I realized the elevator was stopped and the doors were open, and probably had been for a while. He broke off the hug, clapped me on both shoulders and said "Go get 'em." and he smiled this really genuine, loving smile. Then he was gone into the crowd.

I didn't get the job, but that interaction gave me a lot of confidence and I think helped going forward. About a year later I found out it wasn't Christian at all, but I like to think he would have done the same thing given the opportunity. Anyway I don't really have a question.
>>
>>16926897
Best post on /o/ for quite a while
>>
>>16926909
Would have been a good post if it wasn't copypasta. I have an actual Christian story though, since we live in the same town. I saw him at a grocery store in Ängelholm the other day. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he interrupted her and said "Is there an anime character stronger than Madara Uchiha? And I’m referring to Rinne Tensei Madara Uchiha with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan doujutsus (with the rikidou paths ability) equipped with his Gunbai and control of the juubi and Gedou Mazou, a complete Susano’o, with Hashirama Senju’s DNA implanted in his chest so he can perform Mokuton kekkei genkai and yin-yang release ninjutsu as well as being extremely skilled in taijutsu and bukijutsu."

I got this job by a tad of luck. Worked at a heavy truck manufacturer before, and grew tired of it. Aimed to go to college instead, but then i got in contact with the production supervisor here who wanted to hire me. I was searching a job here as a polisher, i wanted to try something new. But he asked me if i wanted to be this instead, which is alot better so I said yes. I'd say its a good start, learn the right thinking, get a good knowledge of the way stuff works overall, become interested in cars and building them. Fun fact, there are alot of Porsche parts in a Koenigsegg, among other brands.

I was at Ikea the other day (the one in Palo Alto) buying some shitty cheap tables and lamps and whatnot, and when I was in the checkout line to pay the guy in front of me had, no joke, six bags of frozen "Swedish" meatballs. I didn't know you could even buy that shit, and I don't know why anyone would. But he had so many bags, and nothing else. I guess if it's on your way home a trip to Ikea for some frozen food makes a little bit of sense but still, going into Ikea is a hassle compared to just going to a grocery store or even a Costco-type warehouse place. I guess that's why he was getting the six bags- really stock up so you don't do it too often. Certainly wouldn't want to run out of frozen Ikea Swedish meatballs. He probably got some fresh ones from the weird Ikea cafe too It blows my mind that people can't go to Ikea without fucking eating at their weird overpriced restaurant. I wonder if these people feel like they have to stop at the Pizza Hut or what the fuck ever every time they go shopping at Target. No wonder we're all so fucking fat.

Not that I know of, more focus on breaking speed records and getting revenge with the One:1 that crashed on the ring. Would be cool tho!
>>
>>16928775

How far along are you in building your own Koenigsegg at home, in the style of Johnny Cash's "One Piece at a Time"?
>>
>>16928877
Would be cool, but since everything is custom and specific, we dont have any "important" parts in stock. Everything is made for each car specifically, so stealing parts would result in baaaad production since stuff will go missing and product would be delayed to customer. So. havent started ;D
>>
Do you ever feel envy for customers going away with their multimillion's Koenigsegg? Like...damn man I spend <a lot of> hours doing it and these scrumbags just toke it
>>
A 2006 Ford GT just set a record for a standing mile with a speed of 293.6 mph (472.5 kph). Why can't Koenigsegg make a car faster than a 10 year old Ford? Surely with your engineering 500 kph must be attainable when you have a whole 1.6 km to accelerate to that speed.
>>
>>16928915
Every. Day. :)

>>16928950
That 2006 Ford GT has around 2500 horsepower if i remember correctly. And I would guess that it boosts around 40-45 psi?

Our cars have no more than 1500 horsepower and we dont boost more than perhaps 25psi. If we would want to go for 500kph, then we could, but then you will have to sell a borderline dragster, not a stylish luxury icon car. There is a big difference between those products mate :)

If you want to play that game, why not ask me to defend Koenigsegg against a Topfuel dragster with 10k hp? God damn, you are abloody moron. Hurts my brain to even read your comment.

Regardless this is a just taking a car and boosting the horsepower. The same could be done for a Koegsninignnign
>>
>>16929009
Why couldn't the same be done with a koegsnegignegnig?
>>
>>16928978

We both know a top fuel dragster, unlike that GT and your cars, is not a production road car. I'm sure Koenigsegg could run that boost pressure, after all they are competing with a simple Mustang engine.

But I will concede that the GT was more street/track hybrid than the luxobarges you guys produce (and much cheaper, too). In that case, how about this: what do you guys have planned to top a closer competitor in the new Bugatti Chiron? And will Pagani ever get on your level and make their own engines? Christian looks like he could probably take Horatio Pagani in a wrestling match, what would he make Pagani say before he lets him tap out? These are all very valid questions.
>>
>>16929020
It can, but why would you? Its a luxury car with alot of power. You are the hillbilly of the world if you take a koenigsegg and force it up to powers of selfdestructions.

>>16929044
I dont know what is planned in the future more than the Regera itself. Pagani will probably remain as a pretty car, but its not the same as a Koenigsegg nor a Bugatti.

The interesting part between K and B is that B is owned by Volkswagen, which helps them on so many levels. K manages to build these in a little village in southern sweden, alone, we have no chance of pressuring suppliers like the VW group etc. Its just nu the same... And the Bugatti is fugly, its just fat and bubbly. Its not smart, its like "Ok, we need power to beat everyone else, lets put 4 turbos!!!!!!!!!"... We dont do that shit, we work with smart solutions because if we dont, the company wont make it. Bugatti on the other hand, they just smack the chassi full of power and money. They dont care, cause they dont need too. You know, for every car they sell, the LOSE money equal to 2-3 cars? But it doesnt matter, cause VW funds them, to build and ICON.

You get my thought here? Became a bit long. TL;DR: Bugatti doesnt need to improve, they have unlimited supplies and support. Koenigsegg doesnt, so we fight for where we are.

I think Christian would settle for hearing him say like "Mama mia, Pagani is number 3 Mr. CvK, I forfeit!"

Rimac is really cool, I admire them! Still not a competition, but they might get there given some time. Doing electric supercars is respect!

Fun fact, the Regera batterypack is delivered by Rimac!
>>
>>16929075

Bugatti doesn't lose anything like that kind of money on their cars. They only build a few cars that actually go fast to show off on television with Top Gear and the like, but the engines are really pushed to their limits and have to be rebuilt (or just replaced) after those top speed runs. The cars that go to customers are just a slightly tweaked version of the Lamborghini V12- still fast but not stupid powerful. They know their customers will never really use the cars and are too stupid to tell the difference if they do. If you put your foot down in a car and it went fast, would you really know the difference if it was 750 hp or 1500? Perhaps even the 750 hp figure is doubtful. This is Volkswagen after all.

I pushed it a bit to get my point through, I'm glad you got it. Put it this way, your ambition in life is... like riding motocross, and you want to be the best! What is your dream car?
What is stopping you from owning it?

What do you think of cars like the Corvette or Viper that offer decent reliability, power, and handling for a reasonable price?
>>
>>16929280
I'd love to have a project car and a daily car, so if i get to choose those two...
Project: Toyota Supra TT. Cant think of a more badass car to enjoy and have fun with, and spend time with in the garage.
Daily: I'd be more than happy with a new BMW M5 or some. If I had even more money, I'd like to think myself driving a new Porsche Panamera Turbo. Even more rich than that, I would dwelch into the supersportcar industry. Too much to be able to choose from though...

What stops me is other priorities. My biggest goal in life is to quit work. I do NOT want to work because i must pay the bills all the way to my late 60's. If i work, i will work because i think its fun... So instead of buying the cars i want, I save and invest my money. Its a constant struggle, because i love cars as well.

Corvette and Viper are nice i suppose, its the type of car a middleclass man/woman can buy to top their daily life off! Wheter its good cars or not, I dont know, but I imagine its fun to own a sporty car like that. If you passion is cars, I wouldnt stop you from going there.

You're sat in traffic and a bald gentleman runs up to your drivers side window and taps on the glass. As you roll down the window you notice it is Christian Von Assfucker, founder of the Koenigsegg car company. He is visibly panicked and tells you his wife urgently needs to change her tampon, he asks if she may do it on your front passenger seat.

Totally forgot I checked out the One:1 at Monterey a few years ago. Interesting piece, unfortunately I found after scouring over the car there was 0 passione to be found. Even if you crushed it with a giant mortar and pestel and distilled the dust I doubt there would even be a trace of passione, while even a neglected Mondial has a moderate amount. It's an interesting case, why is it that only Italians can make true exotics? Heritage? Manufacturing techniques? Figuring it out would be a far more valuable discovery than anything like freevalve or new hybrid drivetrain configs could ever be.
>>
>>16929141

Does this really actually happen? Do you have any evidence or are you just assuming they put a shittier engine in it so they make money?
>>
>>16929878
Its like that in all cars, as a company you cannot manufacture everything, nor do you want to "reinvent the wheel"... How can you not know that? Its small parts, you know small mechanical parts like the mechanical part doorhandles and shit like that.

>>

Theoretically, say you could put 1 part no matter the size, into your lunchbox, it would take over 10 years, if you did it 365 days a year, which you arent since you only work 240 ish. So more truth is towards 20 years.

I was traveling in Sweden and was at a club when I met this incredibly attractive girl. I mean, the average Swedish chick is pretty hot but she was certainly above average. I wasn't at a typical tourist city and I guess she thought my accent was charming or something because she seemed pretty into me and we really hit it off. One of her friends cockblocked the shit out of me but she promised we'd meet up the next day for a sauna. Turns out she meant the sauna at her place, which of course sounded good to me, and when I showed up at the address it was a much nicer house than you'd expect for someone in her mid 20s. Turns out it was her parents house, but whatever, they didn't seem to home. So we go over to the sauna and she just totally strips down. I'm about to do the same but her 15 year old sister shows up, also nude, and I'm like what the fuck. But the sister was pretty cute. I'm a modest guy so I was kind of trying to keep covered with a bit of a towel but they were just letting it all hang out. I'm hoping the sister leaves so I can get some action but this chick seems to be into me. Now, I'm way too old for her but I guess she saw the same thing her sister did and she's talking to me and batting her eyes and kind of scooting over until I'm basically sandwiched between these two naked Swedes. The sister gets up to make a phone call or some shit and this 15 year old girl leans over and plants her hand right on the towel, right on my cock, and I knew I was in trouble. I have no idea what the age of consent is and I didn't know exactly how old this girl was at the time, but I figured either way the sister would be upset.
>>
>>16930379

She swings her leg over mine, and now she's sitting on my lap straddling me, looking me dead in the eye and I'm just stuck staring at her small but really quite nice tits. Her hands are on my shoulders and I just don't know what to do; half of my brain is saying "no, no, why you, why not the other girl" but the other half is shouting "oh fuck yeah" and it's just getting louder and louder in my head. I don't know what to do and I ended up putting my hands on her hips, and she leans over and starts whispering in my ear. Something in Swedish presumably, I couldn't understand it. She keeps whispering and sees my confusion- half about the language barrier and half what the fuck am I supposed to do in this situation- and switches to english. She's real close, and my face is touching her chest, and her tongue is practically in my ear, and she says "The FreeValve concept, also known as fully variable valve actuation, offers the unique ability to have independent control of the intake and exhaust valves in an ICE. For any engine load criteria, the timing of intake and exhaust can be independently programmed. The system can then 'decide' based on driving conditions which one to use to maximize performance or minimize fuel consumption and emissions. This allows a greater degree of control over the engine which in turn provides significant performance benefits. While the fully variable valve actuation concept has been widely tested, no manufacturer has been able to implement it in large scale production due to various technical problems along with packaging disadvantages and higher cost. The FreeValve technology shows great promise of overcoming these challenges in a cost-effective way."

Do you guys have a sauna at work?
>>
>>16930379
>>16930383
Actually a good shitpost.

No sauna, not anyone I know of atleast!
>>
>>16930147

No I get that, but I was looking for like specific bits. Doorhandles is a start.
>>
>>16930436

I'm sure Koenigsegg makes their own door handles from prepreg carbon fiber. I imagine it's boring stuff you'll rarely see, like urethane bushings where they spec what they need and the one you can buy off the shelf happens to be a Porsche part. Even something simple like an air vent or a switch wouldn't be sourced from another manufacturer, as it would hurt their bespoke luxury branding. It'll just be little bullshit, like the lightbulb inside the glovebox.
