my grandmother is sick and i may not see her again unless i take a 4000 km trip in the next couple weeks
cost wise, it's most economical for me to take my diesel van over anything else
the only issue is my van doesn't have glowplugs and doesn't start at temperatures lower than 6c, the temperatures here are quite mild but i will be going further north
if the temperature goes lower than that overnight my plan was to just idle the engine all night. i've heard diesels are fine to idle.. is there any truth to this?

>the only issue is my van doesn't have glowplugs and doesn't start at temperatures lower than 6c,
put glowsplugs in your engine already, they're not that expensive.

they're $1000 for a set and i don't have time to wait for them to be delivered

taje a halogen lamp with you and put it under the engine 5 minutes before you want to go, 300W should be enough, but to be sure take 400w, shouldnt cosstt that much

that's fucking ridiculous, glow plugs are $10 each
did you snap the tops off, get quoted $1000 to un-fuck your mess, and decide to just keep driving without them as long as it would start?
Literally get a can of ether you eurocuck

>lower than 6c
Bring a camping stove, put it under the car and let it run for a while before you start. Or use it to boil some water, put it in a steel bottle and put that under the hood for half an hour.

can of easy start
heat gun / electric paint stripper
rag soaked in ether wrapped around the air intake

i bought a can of this because the name was funny
never ended up starting an engine with it
just spraying it into the lid and really enjoying the smell until the whole can was gone
