That's good for used car buyers who keep their cars long. I'm thinking of replacing my Sonata with a 2015 Optima LX. Can get one for around $13,000 with low miles, and I checked with consumer reports to see the reliability. 2015 models are all green and don't really have issues (since it's the last model of that gen, most of the kinks have been worked out).

Bought a 2012 Genesis Sedan 3.8 for 12k last year and it's honestly a great car. I'm sure there are more feature rich cars out there but for what I got it felt like a steal. It's not a sports car at all but it's pretty fucking comfy and it's mechanically excellent even though I just passed 100k miles (I do a lot of driving). Original owner probably paid around $45k for it based on the research I did for the options it has.

This. Hyundai's and Kia's are just plain good cars for everyday use. They're not really for enthusiasts, but they do alot of things right for modern daily drivers

>Comfort tuned suspension

An Accord or Mazda 6 may be sportier, that doesn't automatically make it better for everyone. Enjoy your stiffer ride in your family cars.

Also the Genesis Coupe 3.8 is nice.

It's pretty based actually, I have a 14' sport which only has about 175hp but I test drove the new one cause I'm thinking about trading in for it. I really liked the interior and handling of the car. The power is great too, torque peaks at like 1500rpm so you can definitely feel it. It has IRS designed by a guy who used to work for BMW's M division and the car has been well reviewed critics from what I've seen. Only complaint would be the shifter, but an after market short throw shifter fixes that. Overall I'd say it's better than its rival civic Si or shitty VW gti.

What's the bigger factor to this? The weight or the suspension? I want my next car to be all about ride comfort because no point in sporty for a daily commuter.

I drive a standard Mazda3 right now and no matter how light on the brakes I am, I always get that tiny little jerk sensation coming to a stop. On my dad's auto Elantra, I can come to a stop with the complete absence of that jerk.

do they still have cheap-looking plastic that's apparent even in brand new cars? That was a big annoyance I had when I lived through my parents' two elantras. I see the same shit with my coworker's Kia too.

pic related is very misleading for example. I'd describe the grey plastic as glossy yet dull. It'd be better if it was simply flat.

Nope. People would move on to other brands if they were breaking down.

Kia/Hyundai prices of equivalent are hardly different from lets say Hondas (only ~$1000 difference) so there is even less reason for people to stay if the cars were actually breaking down as you claim.

Is it that hard to accept that they have brand loyalty? I don't know what's in it for you by constantly saying Hyundai/Kias are shit shit shit over and over again but it's definitely not rationale.

I miss my '07 v6, but it needed tires, shocks, and brakes and it just wasn't worth the investment.

I traded it in and got a great deal on a '16 Elantra, 14k before tax, 8 miles on it.

>>16899435
I got 3500 for my '07 sonata (v6) on trade in, had 108,000 on it

I'm in the exact same position with my Sonata. Im looking to replace it with an Optima LX.

That's a fantastic deal on that Elantra, I probably would have done the same. I'm just worried I'll miss the V6

I actually owned a Daewoo triple action handgun
It was a useless, but kind of cool feature. Was actually a decent gun

Oh I just came for the Daewoo K2. Didn't hear much about their handgun except that they're cheap and they are okay.

For people that was going to buy a cheap metal surplus handgun like the Makarov, but decided to spend a bit more to get a better gun.

I do miss the v6, but the base elantra gets like 40mpg highway and 150hp for a 2800 pound car is at least acceptable. The torque curves on modern inline 4 really suprises me too.

I should have gone for the value package, but 14k is hard to beat for a brand new car.

My 1997 excel litterally sat for months untouched, and started first try.

The transmission on it is unbreakable, i know because its the car i learnt to drive in, still drive, and it gets abused almost every time its driven.
its still smooth as fuck.
Not to mention the interior is functional af, the only complaint i have is the plastic gets sticky ( in 40degree celcius australian sun)

like yeah it IS a shitbox, but its one of the best shitboxes you can buy. Elentras and accents are the same. Theyre basically on par with toyotas and im not even kidding. I havent driven a new hyundai, but i cant imagine they got worse since 1997. You obviously have never driven a hyundai or you wouldnt be so retarded.
>>
>>16903074
Oh and not to mention excels are used as entry level race cars here in australia. For good fucking reason, theyre cheap, they dont break and they go reasonably fast

I am a little excited to see the new 2018 model Elantra GT and GT sport bringing back the true compact wagon.

Not thrilled with the choice of the 1.6 Gamma engine for the turbo option, or that it's either manual or dual-clutch only in turbo trim.

Can't have an opinion on the 2.0 just yet because I don't know if it's going to be the Theta or a Beta updated with GDI.

Currently the lack of roof rails is a major deal breaker, hoping for it being a dealer installed option.

Happens a lot on that engine, normally they come in for the 'battery light' , A/C / defroster inop or overheating concern.

Seen at least two chuck the pulley without losing the belt which squeaked.

The one pictured, that's what happened. Owner had replaced the belt because it was squeaking, then the belt AND tensioner because it had started squealing. When that didn't fix it gave up and brought it to us. I found the pulley half caught up in the subframe near the steering rack, came back in and handed it to him and told him where I found it - watching the realization that he had strung a belt around what was effectively a smooth, gooey puck of rubber not once, but twice was fucking priceless.

Dont let it get to you koreabros. I am quite an old fag, and remember back in the day when driving a Jap car would get you laughed at. Not any more. I dont even own a korean car, but think they are quite good nowadays. And for the price and warranty they offer, I have as many friends that drive Korean cars as Jap cars. In twenty years, Chinese cars will have replaced Korean cars as far as shit talkers go. Its just business in a capitalistic society...

>In twenty years, Chinese cars will have replaced Korean cars as far as shit talkers go

Chinese cars will never be sold in 1st world countries. They've been saying this for years and it's never happened.
>>
>>16906240
>. In twenty years, Chinese cars will have replaced Korean cars as far as shit talkers go.
I don't think so. The reason CHinese cars have no been sold outside China, Greece and Russia is because they can't meet worldwide crash standards. and the Chinese don't see any need to properly compete.
>>
>>16906260
You may be right. Kinda hope so actually cuz I have been quite a few places globally that do sell Chinese cars, and they are truly crap. Honestly, I see the chinese doing what the japs did. Since they has so much of a trade surplus of our US dollars thanks to Walmart and the like, they will start building chinese cars here in the US. Toyota and Honda did it with quite a bit of success. Even Hyundai is being made in the US. At least some of them. It will be fun to watch.
>>
>>16906263
And YOU may be right also. With such a large population of chinks to drive their cheap ass cars, they might not really want an international market with all the safety guidelines that go with it. The other potential car maker that nobody seems to mention is India. Yeah, same massive poo in loo population. Indians have really put a dent in the IT industry. I wonder what they have in mind as far as cars?
