It's fine to mix them, mixing half 5w20 and half 5w30 will make 5w25 more or less. If your car is down a quart and it takes 5w30 but only 5w20 is available it's fine to topup with 5w20 - just not optimal, other way around is fine too. 5w30 near the end of it's oil life thins out to like a 5w20 anyways.

It's also perfectly fine to mix synthetic and non-synthetic. Oil is better than no oil.

Engineers spent lots of time designing the tiny tolerances in your engine for a specific viscosity to minimize wear so respecting that is a good idea, but your engine won't explode if you don't. It will probably just not last an extra 15k miles at the end of its life.

I had a friend refer to the BOV noise as "steam brakes" once.

He actually thought people installed some kind of steam-actuated braking system into their cars as a modification and the BOV noise was the steam escaping when they took their foot off the brake or something.

I use to know someone who thought he was some sort of racing legend a week after he got his license.

I've been telling him he needs to get it fixed, but he keeps dismissing it, saying he's just going to get a new car soon anyways so it doesn't matter.
