Best bang for buck is grain alcohol, and you can use it as starting fluid if needed. (Many pump spray heads from shit like window cleaner fit the bottle threads.)

You'll need a soundtrack. Try Patsy Cline and other cry in yer booze country to get that synergy of self pity that makes a true lush.

Yeah that's a pilot power. It's an outdated sport bike tire. Not a touring tire at all. Expect relatively short life (most likely 3-6k miles depending on how you ride and what pressures you use).
>>
>>16868780
is that all custom or can you actually buy that setup for a drz?
Also I thought projector lenses were really sensitive to dirt and bugs so they are supposed to be put behind another lens and sealed?
>>
>>16868765
I've got those, depending on the bike they can get up to 10k miles, or at least that's what I read on the reviews.
>>
>>16868786
Is outdated = bad?
They are a season/ >1000miles old, I wonder why someone would buy "old" technology?

So I guess plenty of grip in corners then and I don't have to worry that I'll slip?
>>
>>16868794
Its custom, uses the stock housing and you have to make a mounting bracket for the lights. I had no idea about them being sensitive, i guess ill have to read up on them a bit.
>>
>>16868819
>outdated = bad?
Not exactly. They're just a cheaper alternative, but they won't last as long as newer tires mainly.
>why someone would buy old technology?
Because they're a really cheap tire and boy racers always think they need to buy a supersport tire even when they can't corner worth shit.
>Plenty of grip in corners?
Yes. If you have issues with cornering it's 100% NOT the tire's fault.

When you replace your tires you should probably get a touring or sport touring type tire.

don't expect much, pol and bradley 2nd tier at best and the bike is very unconventional in the current rules, even honda is not running a screamer V4 anymore + they have a steel frame.

At the last qatar test the KTMs occupied all 3 bottom slots, don't even expect anything like a top 10 for at least the 1st half of this season if not the entire thing.

>>16868765
>>16868819

they're more than sporty enough if you're worried about grip, even then actual sport touring tyres are fantastic now and on the road you'll be hard pressed to run out of edge grip so that's not a worry either, I used to ride Angel GT's at kneedown lean angles on public roads day after day and never lost traction once, my brother did a trackday on them, no problems at all.

>I wonder why someone would buy "old" technology?

Because bike people are crazy, we find tyres that we like and we never want to change for fear of having a bad experience with the next tyre even though basically every company makes a good tyre these days. You'll hear this all the time "only buy pirelli, only buy michelin" etc. I've sampled all sorts of brands of tyres and they all seem to go ok to me.

If it's done well, anything works. You can put a single, round headlight on a fully faired sportsbike if you wanted to. It's just a matter of fabricating mounts when there aren't any available. That includes adding housing for any exposed lenses or wiring when removing oem fairings.

Please excuse pic related

In that case consider a used one or a mild wreck (busted plastic etc) to work with. BMWs go cheap at salvage auctions. One gent brings a trailer full to Barber Vintage.

Check BMW forums for detailed advice and pics of Bimmers torn down for maintenance. There's lots of crap you could remove or relocate. The way the fuel tanks are done it would make sense to fab a new tank to your liking.

Either get a HP2 (if you got the money)
Or strip the it down and bore out the engine.
They're not slow bikes, but not made for high speeds. Maybe a different gearbox would help that already.
>>
>>16869897
And on a second note, does anyone know what happens when I hit the rev limiter? Might sound like a silly question but in both my Miata and on my Ninja 250 hitting the rev limiter results in an extremely jerky sensation which I don't really want to experience at 100mph

straight line acceleration is ez. Literally just twist the throttle until you get near redline then shift. It's no big deal if you hit rev limiter. It just stops you from revving higher.

the limiter cuts the ignition spark making your engine do farty noises, at 14.000 RPM you dont have to worry about anything being jerky but your exhaust might explode if you dont stop doing it.

They're pretty long, but made for low rev riding.

At 50km/h you can ride in 5th gear already.

I get my top speed in 5th, but in 4th it's only 10km/h slower (in 6th 5km/h).

They don't feel that heavy when riding, they're pretty agile, forgiving and chilled out.

>>
>>16870123
The final drive is not the transmission. See brand-specific forums for your options. BMW has great owners groups. If I had a BMW question of any sort I'd search then ask there. You can also research frame and subframe varieties. If you weld and fab you can mount most anything.

for about a month I regretted buying a sv650s and not something smaller. I grew out of that, but I'm naturally jumpy, so every time I ride, I scan mirrors and sides with a regularity that probably is part fear, but part just me being me.

Even worse the combustion chamber is in the head, it makes 37 to the rear wheel, 42 with a couple thousand in engine mods. If you want a guzzi buy a 70's or 80's 850. They're way more powerful than the new ones and just as reliable, plus not retro shit.

Systematic scan is all smart even if fear motivates it. That's why pilots are taught to scan.

Large displacement Guzzis were made into the 1990s. Guzzis are easy to work on as far as the drivetrain, but don't fuck with vintage motorcycles unless you are or want to be a mechanic (which I totally encourage). Plus with an old one you can just shitcan the entire wiring harness and probably should by now anyway. Starters are robust (it's basically an automobile starter) and easy to deal with. Aftermarket alternators are available if needed.

If you want to ride buy something newer and play with vintage rides as secondary motorcycles.
>>
>>16870476
You have the 1100 (1085cc, 1993-2001), the 1150 (1130cc, 1999-2005) and the 1200 (1170cc, since 2004)

With the 850 (848cc, 1995-2001) as a smaller engined 1100 and the HP2 is an early 1200 without a balance shaft and slightly more power.

It's all about batteries. Capacity, charge times, temperature influence. Needs to improve.

Less important but still an issue - control modes. Some freewheel, some engine brake and recharge etc. They should either mimic classic motorbike (have clutch that modulates engine braking) or refine that shit for each use case, so it doesn't act like overpowered scooter.

Other than that, bike is bike.

Make sure you are able to read the road, know the rules well enough to act quickly and not cause confusing conditions for other drivers. Be assertive with your actions, yet always have a plan B.

Wishing for small bike sounds like you might be having difficulties controlling it. Practice more. Dropping a 105kg GROM will still feel the same "fucking heavy" as a 199kg CBR1000RR.

Eh. I could probably pick up a Grom and carry it around like it was a big dog or something, albeit not very far. No chance with a literpeter.

It's not back pedalling. The original statement was that you shouldn't buy a bike purely for it's looks.
You can make any bike look sexy, except for a BMW GS or a KTM literally anything.

But anything else can look sexy.

Honestly the Radian just needs to get shined up and I've gotta buy a pair of plastic covers. It'll look great then. Also considering painting it. But that brass cylinder head will look phenomenal once I've brightened it up.
>>16870953
It's a standard.
At least my motorcycle runs and didn't cost twenty grand.

It's a good old classic truck, but you're missing out on a world of lovely small trucks with inline six and four cylinders. You could also skip the big three truck fan shitposting by telling them your Toyota won wars.

Your argent is akin to telling a Billy Bob Cletus, while at a barbeque cook off competition, that he really should just stop eating meat and really should make the switch to a gluten free vegan diet.

You're making arguments that neither he, nor I care about and neither he nor I give a shit about.

So I passed the training course for waiving the dmv license test, and I need to look for a bike now.

I read through the beginners guide thing, but is there any type of bike that generally has a higher seat? The honda nighthawk I was on felt uncomfortably low.

Any dual sport. Depends more on your inseam, budget, where you want to ride and where you are located.

Otherwise I'm going to call you a faguette and tell you to get a housing gt250r
