ej25t
head gasket failure but exterior leak, so it had a lot of life left in it. I had an NA ej25 get to 250,000km and die in a very explosive fashion, how you'd imagine a car exploding, steam spewing from the hood.
>>
>>16868072
why the fuck bother?

subi a shit
>>
>>16868076
same can be said with anything. removing a boxer engine and stripping it of accessories is very straightforward, removing one took less like than getting an I4 out.

imo subarus are much easier/logical to work on that a lot of other makes.
subarus are pretty good
fairly reliable, outside of hg failure. but say you do clutch, timing belt at the same time as doing the hg both are immensely easier than with the engine still in the car.
cheapish/common parts too.
>>
>>16868072
You're that guy that advised your partner against buying that leb'd Forester? Good luck with it. I had to do my head gasket on my falcon, it was getting water in the 1 and 6 cylinders, but thankfully there wasn't any fluids mixing and no overheating

srs. everything was 10, 12 or 14mm bolts.
radiator is two bolts, fan plugs..thats it. many other accessories were only in with two bolts.
i'd rather work on it than my inline 4 or many others.
>>

ive heard unless your overheating or completly cook the engine then there's no need to have the heads sent away for crack testing. I know you can often get away with just razorblading or scuffing away old gasket residue.

i know for a fact that subaru dealerships in america and australia will often not bother to have them machined but they will use orbital sanders to remove old gasket material so that they can just pump out repairs.
>>
>>16868391
Fuck off fatcunt.
>>
>>16868086

My GT Forester is an elbow deep web of only weeb hands need apply to do the most basic of shit whereas I could practically lay out my entire tool set under the hood of my Valiant and have room left over to take a nap.

The Subaru isn't a complex car to work on by any stretch, but you're absolutely full of shit (or just haven't worked on many cars) if you think they're among the easiest cars to work on, especially with regards to routine stuff.

Having to unbolt and jack up and entire engine just to gain access to spark plugs is fucking retarded.
>>
>>16868543
im kinda meming for subaru a bit, I work on tonnes of cars through mmy job and would very much rather touch one of them than various euros or even other japshit.
>Having to unbolt and jack up and entire engine just to gain access to spark plugs is fucking retarded.

nigga you remove the airbox, washer bottle and battery to get to them, you dont need to jack up the engine. many other four bangers have intake manifolds, injectors or coilpacks which you need to remove to get to spark plugs.
>>
>>16868566

Even with all that garbage removed my hands literally don't fit unless I jack the engine to create room.

Left is the absolute worst.

It begs the question; is it a good thing that cunts are still into cars or a bad thing that P-plate fuckwits are wasting a good chassis?

I suppose the seppos are going to ruin the cheap Skyline market anyway with their cancerous JDM obsession and shitty car culture, but still. The P-plater in a beat-up R33 evokes a mixed response.

17 tonnes of downforce on the drive axle, but it has to also propel the full weight of the rig forwards. So that 115 tonne is an extreme load on the driveline and having shit clutch control results in expensive repairs. Trucks usually have very heavy clutches, especially American trucks. Euro rigs are usually air over fluid and have clutch pedals you can push down with your pinky finger. So euro rigs are easier to drive and is why you see them running the bigger setups as to minimise driver error and repair intervals due to rough operators.

In the wet while bobtail, dropping the clutch means fun and banging through the gears 2 at a time. If you exercise proper clutch control in the wet while bobtail, there is no loss of traction. It all comes back to proper clutch control.

It's like everything you know is from reading magazines and you don't have any real world car experience.

So you are saying there is no delay whatsoever with we an orbital clutch pack slushbox trasnmission. You really have only read magazines.
>>
>>16874798

Even with a delay high horsepower engines can spin tyres.

Even my old l67 engine commodore could spin tyres. Just by throttle.

Imagine if it had 500hp and not 200.

I wouldn't have even had to open the throttle a quarter of the way to do it.
>>
>>16874816
And it takes a good 2 seconds of go pedal to do that.
>>
ITT: We tell lies
>>
When I first got my supercharged commodore I spun the wheels around around about on purpose.

I noticed other drivers giving me really bad looks.

I looked behind me and there was a massive cloud of smoke all over the whole roundabout.

Now imagine more than twice that power and how easy it would have been.

I didn't even use the brakes.
>>
Don't argue with stupid. All you do is lower yourself the their level.
And that level is lower than a muddy truck tyre track in the Surat Basin, even then he could skydive from that rut he is so low.
>>
>>16874828
>it was just draw through from the fucked valve seals and the sidways feeling was busted ass diff bushes
>>
>>16874838
Yeah no.

In v8 vt commodores and supercharged sixes you just have to turn the wheel A little bit when stationary and give it a bit of throttle and smoke wheel pur off the tyres.
Don't even need to use brakes.

You dumb cunts have no idea.

>>16874845
And those cars only have about 200hp when stock..

Literally a thread of shitposting and autistic arguments. DAE dat is literal cancer
>>
I dont really what what we are arguing about because im half asleep and having a hard time whats going on here. But when i first bought my triton, driving home a few times i literally couldnt help spinning the tires. Given it was my first manual car and i learnt manual in a troop carrier. But even in the wet sometimes the tires would spin without and effort. But the tires were average and i had an ally tray with to weight on the back at all.

>tfw it spun the tires better than my vx commy
