I don't think it's people being lazy though, let's be honest - A popular channel can do whatever they want and it'll be liked whether it's half-assed or done well. An unknown or smaller channel can put their heart and soul into a really awesome video and the moment they post it to reddit to promote it, it gets downvoted to hell no matter what it is.
