They can be finicky bitches, but yes. They're really good when they're good. You just need to stay on top of maintenance with them, as they don't take as well to abuse as volvos.

I love my 850R.

FWD really doesn't matter desu.
It's a station wagon that pulls pretty hard on the highway, is comfy, reliable, and practical af.

It handles breddy gud and doesn't make enough power make the fwd an issue.
10/10 DD imo.

My first car was a 97 850 station wagon. Loved it soon much, too bad the whole underneath was rusted to hell and the radiator blew.
