WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

First year, highest rate, same country but I fucking have to pay €650 to insure this old K10 Micra.
I checked the MX5 and yes, around 340 with my insurance.

What the fucking fuck. How is that MX5 almost half as expensive in the rates than my bucket?

It depends on how popular the car is and how many accidents were registered. For instance, check some old Golf and the price will shoot up over 900€ a year.

I'm 20. I pay $270/mo s, the bulk of which is for the Si. When I just had the Si it was like $235, and just about half of that premium is for collision.
It's fucking retarded, and as soon as I pay off the Si, I'm going to drop collision which will make my total insurance $175/mo.

A brand new WRX is only ~$30k. With a $10k down payment, 3% interest, 5 year loan, the payments would only be ~$5,000 annually. How poor are you to think that this is so outlandish for a 19 year old?

You're not even 20 and already committed to 5 years / $20k of debt, these payments are on top of either going to school, or are killing your saving/investing capability if you're jumping straight into work (i.e. trade/military).

I think the question is, how poor are you that you think it is at all acceptable to go into massive debt to drive a new car at 19 years old?

This is fucking bullshit, everyone here is paying like 2 of my monthly payments for a year of coverage. Fuck Canada, fuck the GTA and fuck insurance companies. How can they get away with this. I pay 202 dollars a month and i was blessed with getting that low of a payment.

Because you literally have to if you want to get to work and go anywhere. Public transit is an absolute joke. People pay way more than 200 a month here, theirs people with DUIs, accidents or just happen to live in a bad area. Spending 350-600 a month on insurance.

Not that guy, but holy shit the salt in this post is unreal. Some people are just born into families with more money, and that isn't a bad thing. Fuck off poorfag.

>Cosigning with dad, I see
It doesn't take much to get a sub-3% interest rate if you aren't a moron. I got my first CC at 22 (no cosigner), paid it off in full every month for a year and a half, and my credit score was in the mid 700s. Started shopping around for car loans and the best offer I got was $30k at 1.5%.

>You're not even 20 and already committed to 5 years / $20k of debt, these payments are on top of either going to school, or are killing your saving/investing capability if you're jumping straight into work (i.e. trade/military).

Some people are smarter, better at what they do, and make more money than you. And if he isn't, why does it matter to you how he spends his own money? It's not like it hurts you if his car gets repo'd.

Your post in a nutshell:
>I'm a salty, stupid fuck because other people can spend more money on things that they enjoy than I can.
>>
>>16863837

Because Canadians are cucks and pay whatever prices they have to. We love monopolies and getting fucked on everything. Secondly their is a shitload of accidents involving poo in loos and retards in general. Yes insurance is mandatory, the lowest coverage you can get is a 200 thousand dollar policy, in the US their are stats which its like 20 grand or something retarded. Most people have higher than that, with like 500k and up in third party coverage. Plus i am sure that their are more benefits in our basic plans than in American ones.

Still, it's bullshit.

No salt involved, just kind of astonished that he would call someone "poor" for not financing a new car at 19.

You got your loan at 23.5 years old, after 1.5 years of credit building. A 19 year is is probably not going to have much credit, if any, and is not likely to have a stable income source. A bank isn't going to like that at all, so to get that decent rate, you'd need someone with established credit and income to back your loan.

>Some people are smarter, better at what they do, and make more money than you.
That's right, the 19 year old is a captain of industry and is going to be making big money right out of high school, so much that a 30k car is barely worth a consideration. The reality is that he's probably going to be going to school, or earning an ok wage as a tradesman apprentice/military. Going into debt right out the gate is simply a poor decision.

>And if he isn't, why does it matter to you how he spends his own money? It's not like it hurts you if his car gets repo'd.
I'm allowed to call out a poor decision. Maybe someone in a similar position would re-think taking out a loan. It does hurt me, since high levels of consumer debt (on a depreciating asset nonetheless) are overall bad for the economy.

If his parents bought it for him, none of this applies. It's a really nice gift. The problem is when people (like you) equate the ability to make payments with being able to actually afford something.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you probably did something similar, and my previous post struck a nerve.
>>
>>16863074
>Saving every cent you earned since you started working at 16 to have $10k
You can make $10k working as a cashier in less than 6 months. When I was 17 I had almost $40k saved because I had a job and a side hustle.

>3% interest
If you get a secured credit card, obtainable for any 18 year old with a $300 deposit, you can easily have a credit score of 700+ after a year if you don;t fuck it up, which gets you the low promotional interest rates. My score is 720, last loan had an interest rate of 1.9%.

>5 year loan
Yes, at $5k a year. Literally $13 a day.

>How poor am I
I usually make ~$2,000 a week, $3,000 on a good week. Wealthy by most standards.
>>
>>16855480
yes yes, back home it would cost 600-800 per year (half), but alas the austrians are proto-mountain-jews
>>
>>16864316
>You can make $10k working as a cashier in less than 6 months

Let's say you're working 24 hours a week, which is probably the comfortable limit for a high school student.
You'd need to make 16 dollars an hour (not accounting for taxes) to make 10k in 6 months. No cashier position pays that much.
Even if you had no life and did 75 hour weeks (40 at school, 30 at work), that's 13 dollars an hour, again not counting taxes.

Did you just not go to school, or sell drugs on the side?

>Yes, at $5k a year.
That's 5k every year that's not being invested for retirement/home purchase, and will set you back that much farther.
>>
>>16864654
>Saving for retirement
Now this is cuckoldry. Plenty of people will never even live to be old enough to retire. You're better off just enjoying the money. Spend that shit.

But if you do think you'll live for a long time you should be using your money to create passive / semi-passive income that can be compounded, or buying assets. Otherwise, that money is going to waste. Fiat currency is no place to amass your wealth.

And I did two years of highschool, also a waste. I can't imagine how much farther I'd be right now if I dropped out in freshman year. Did not sell drugs, sold other things which are legal.

>A 19 year is is probably not going to have much credit, if any.

It's incredibly easy to get a CC at 18, and if you treat it like a debit card it's easy to use it responsibly.

>the 19 year old is a captain of industry and is going to be making big money right out of high school

That's not my point, the point is that that's not impossible and that you know absolutely nothing about him other than his age and what car loan he has.

>I'm allowed to call out a poor decision.

Sure you are, and I'm allowed to call you a moron because it's not your problem.

>It does hurt me, since high levels of consumer debt (on a depreciating asset nonetheless) are overall bad for the economy.

If you seriously think you calling somebody out for something you view as a bad decision on 4chan will influence any appreciable number of people, you are incredibly deluded.

>I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you probably did something similar, and my previous post struck a nerve.

I make 6 figures in a fairly cheap area. My biggest concern with the car payment is how early I want to pay off the car vs. how much extra money I save every month. Nice try though. :^)

I have a 90% chance of living to 70 years old, and a 80% chance of making it to 80 years old. That's just from the actuary table of "male, 20-24, doesn't smoke". My grandparents are still alive, with my grandfather at 85 and my grandmother

If the odds are that I'm going to live until 80, and likely beyond, I'd rather not spend those last 20 years still fucking working in my old age. If from the time you're 20 you invest 10% annually (not counting employer match), you can have a comfortable retirement. Worth it, if only for the peace of mind. Employer matching and social security will only make your retirement even cozier.

>>16865142
>it's not your problem
>oh it is a problem but you talking about it won't change anything

Damn. I suggest that someone isn't "poor" for not financing a 30k car at 19, and manage to trigger multiple people.
