Introducing the all new Honda Prelude, only by Ford.
>>16853364
I mean the price seems reasonable doesn't it? I don't know much about fox bodies but a $5k 400 hp red two seater convertible doesn't sound bad.
Plus this seems like the kind of guy that I've dealt with before. A lonely old boomer that wants to make sure his baby is treated ok.
I've gotten great cars dirt cheap because I show up acting all "I'm a new generation but I appreciate the past" or whatever.
Hell, I did my research on a seller and got a Regal under 100k for $500 and all it cost was putting a Reagan sticker on my car. "Oh a smart millennial oh" and they bleed heart for 30 minutes and you get a banging deal.
Say what you want to say about boomers, the ones that are actually willing to sell the damn thing will do so in a heart beat if they "deem you worthy".
Posting this find from a previous thread.
I been seeing alot of low mileage cars lately, mainly Camry. Idk how people keep a 17 year old car under 100k

This guy's been asking $6k for a 500sec that needs restoration for months. It's only worth around a grand as it sits.

>>16856240
Depends on how delusional, plus all the other random factors. I ended up buying a $2250 car (pic related) for $1000 (probably worth about $1500, but I'll probably put like $300 of repairs into it), but the guy apparently had to pay a bill or something and couldn't find a buyer.

>>16854144
Yeah I know what you mean my friend. $5k for a 400HP two seater isn't bad at all, especially if everything that he listed he's done to it is true. I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat.
It's literally how I got my Z too, the owner wasn't exactly boomer tier, he was a scrawny Asian guy so I wasn't too sure on his age but I could tell this was his baby and he didn't just want to let it go to some 18 year old kid, especially a car that requires a very attentive driver.
I showed up and told him "hey man I know you might feel a little uncomfortable selling your baby to a kid, but if it means anything I did do a lot of research on this particular car, and I love to work on cars. I have a couple friends that own Zs and they have been helping me out, and I always take good care of my possessions."
Then I bought it. You are completely right, if they really want to sell it you just gotta prove your worth to them, because that car is most likely the only connection they have to their youth.

In severe need of help here.
My car is pretty much gone and I need a new one.
I don't have much to buy a new one so my parents are giving me some. I have about $3000 but Im looking for a car around $2500 because of the fees that come later.
Looking at these
https://memphis.craigslist.org/cto/6015578551.html
https://memphis.craigslist.org/cto/6044579820.html
https://memphis.craigslist.org/cto/6042223125.html
The asking price of each of these however is over $500 more than the blue book value. The solara is worth around 2300, the sentra is about 1900, and the maxima is about 2200.
I also havent bought a car off craigslist before so I don't know how to negotiate down to blue book value. If I could get the Sentra for even $2200 it would be perfect.
Any help would be appreciated. I might make a separate thread for this.
If you think there are better cars in my crappy area Id appreciate your input. However theres some limits on the car I can get since Im getting some money from my parents. Less than 150000 miles, doesn't need fixing, doesn't look like its come straight out of an accident, post 2000. Only exception seems to be for toyotas because they think those cars last for 300000 miles.
>>16859001

>>16863624
i mean i would love to own shooter but i think he's gonna kill me on some wild ride eventually
>>16865166
Biloxi, actually. But that drive is well worth it to me if the rust is the only real problem.
When buying a car how much are taxes/registration.
I have 3000 and theres a 05 altima thats about 3000. I dont have much extra but how much would I need to get there. Should I just go for an 02 sentra for 1900.
>>16853287
i just figured out why my truck died... the guy on craigslist said it had a new motor and clutch, but the ghetto shop he took it to didnt even tighten half the bolts
i thought it was odd that i kept coming across the odd fastener not much more than finger tight
finally got the motor out and pulled the trans, then i saw a loose bolt chewing into the clutch; looked a little closer and every single flywheel bolt came out by hand, no wrenches required
also the pilot bushing is basically nonexistant, needle bearings fell out everywhere
throw out bearing is toast, no new clutch, apparently the mechanic kept the new one and reused the old one

I've been having an head ache with sellers lately. I found a really good deal on a camry, the guy says he can't show it until Monday. So I text him last night to make sure he's still available, and that's when he tells me it's sold. I now see why some people just go to a dealer
