They are not the same the LM02 has a tiny truckbed and the Mercedes has well see for yourself

except the G is better

LM002 - independent suspension (what is this, mom's grocery getter?)
G550 - solid axles front and rear

LM002 - limited slip axles (great for a corvette I guess) with front engagement on demand
G550 - Locking front/rear/center differentials

LM002 - V12 with high compression ratio (guess that's all they had on hand)
G550 - twin-turbo V8 (for horsepower at any altitude)

LM002 - 78.6in
G550 - 71in to 77in in the 6x6

So the G550 has more capable suspension, a powertrain suited for tackling any conditions, and it can actually fit down a narrow side street.
