UJMs are functional and hail from an era where everyone didn't own a garage full of specialist machinery. It's no accident that many collectors who can afford anything they want own UJMs. The VJMC have many classics and their shows at major events like Barber in Alabama are worth attending.

https://vjmc.org/

I shill the fuck out of Barber. No matter what you ride you have no soul if nothing there makes your penis twitch.

http://www.barbermuseum.org/events/barber-vintage-festival/in-the-park/attractions

Tent camping is fucking excellent. Shitters and showers stay clean. Food vendors are usually good (the Italian Ice trailer didn't show last year. They suck. Avoid if it returns unless paying for a shot glass full of ice chips appeals to you. I bring a couple cases of water.). The auction is worth a stroll.

The swap meet is outstanding. Last year I scored a titled Norton Commando frame which made my trip (shopping is why I take my truck) for cheap. Lots of vintage Jap goodies, lots of complete bikes for sale, lots of every brand you've heard of and many you will never see elsewhere.

Protip:
If you buy a new bike to keep, save everything you take off it, especially stock exhausts. Hang that shit on a wall for the future.

Eurofags should note VJMC chapters exist in Euroland to give you something to do beside watch "Camp of the Saints" happen in real life. As people with expertise in those machines age out of riding info becomes harder to find. Learn thy resources.

Okay, so.
Honda CBF125. Got caught in the rain, no issues. Sprayed the chain down the next day, started it up today, lights suddenly went out. ALL the lights. Front, rear, instrument lights. Engine started fine, indicators, neutral and engine check lights working, and the high-beam switch jammed when I tried to flash the lights to get them to do something. Physically jammed on. Started it again later to get it to a mechanic, then the problem spontaneously fixed itself
The fuck is going on?
The mechanics said to try and break it again, then bring it to them.
My thought is that it's a moisture issue, or that I hit something critical with the oil spray.
My abject fear is that I fucked up while replacing the gear lever I bent and broke something expensive.
The bend isn't the issue, that was done months ago and I only just got around to fixing it.

I posted it in the last thread, but probably got mostly euro-opinions since it was at 4am.

Thinking about a buell ulysses. I live in forever-flat land, however I do go to the twisties a few times a year even though the closest ones are 6 hours away... also might do a cross country trip this summer. Leaning towards the buell mostly because of the price, (4k canadian) although I could get an 07-08ish fz6 for around the same. Any thoughts?

Serious question: why aren't there weight classes in motorbike racing? It seems that being short and skinny puts you at a massive advantage when racing motorbikes.

Has there ever been a world superbike or Moto GP champion (or at least a guy who consistently finished on the podium) who wasn't a manlet skellington?

Find chinese complete fairing kits for that price range.

It's not enough to actually warrant weight classes like in boxing or MMA. The NBA, NFL, NHL, etc. relies your body size way more than motorsports and you still don't see weight classes in them. Rossi is one of the tallest ones and obviously still very competitive.

Being a freak of nature like Phelps can give you an edge in the sport; it's just part of the game.

I want to ride this summer, but I'm weird with my vehicles. I like sexy 80's lines, and I don't like driving something that really "blends in," you know? Don't mean to sound pretentious.

A cursory search of vehicles turned this thing up, looks kinda cool, but I know nothing about bikes. I do know about Honda and/or Toyota, they're really dependable as far as my cars go.

How's this for a bike? Or what are some recommendations that fit my criteria? For reference, I DD a MKii supra and a 89 CRX.

Everyone always does the Victoria -> Sooke -> Cowichan and back via Malahat route. There's nice riding between Langford and Duncan on it.

Otherwise Kangaroo road out by Metchosin is great for afternoon runs. Munn Road near Langford is even more aggressive and a popular spot, but road is quite narrow and visibility not so good with trees.

Haven't gone out west to Tofino on a bike yet, but I could imagine it being enjoyable. There are a bunch of private fire roads out that way if you DGAF and own a DS.

I reuse ear plugs all the time. The dirt they really get on them is that from my fingers when rolling them and sticking them in. There's probably also a small amount of ear wax but I'm not too concerned about getting my own ear wax in my own ears.
Also they're washable. I found that out when I left a pair in my pockets when I did the laundry and they came out looking brand new.

Get the fairing kit and a bolt kit for your bike because I guarantee you some of the bolts have probably gone missing. The fairing kit will feel cheap and shitty if it is not properly secured. Also some chinese fairing kits have heat shielding already built in, if not, apply heat shielding.

Got home from my job at cycle gearâ„¢
Ordered a full body kit to make my '81 Honda cm400 look like an old Ducati 750
Bullet fairings, new tail and seat, painting the tank and frame and deleting the air box
A LOT planned for the next few days regarding my baiku
(I got the day off on the 16th so I'll just be hanging out at my workplace/going to the flat track race)
