Replacing my 99 Explorer's factory Mach audio system

I'm fairly certain that assuming your factory speakers aren't dry rotted, your Mach stereo would have better sound quality. I'm not even kidding.

The mach doesnt have a way to interface an aux device besides a niggery cassette adapter that sounds like shit. So I'm for sure going to install the head unit. The sub is blown, so that's getting replaced. I'll fire it up and have a listen before I commit to installing the speakers.

Just hack your factory cassette deck for an aux input. It's like literally three dots of solder. There's instructions all over the 'Net on how to do it.

I have the same radio in my ranger and the audio quality through the cassette adapter is perfectly fine. There was a mechanical clicking noise at first but then I took out the cut tape detection and its fine.

I can hear the motors spinning the cassette but thats beside the point. CDs and FM radio sound better than the cassette adapter.
