No tears, only dreams now.
To those that don't know; the last Lancer will roll off the line this August. With the exception of the Chinese market, where the Lancer nameplate will continue under a different platform.
ripip even tho I only care for older models
pls no

Name one reason why Mitsubishi deserves to stay in the U.S.
I'll wait.
where were u when lancr was kill?
The Lancer died ten years ago.
good riddance
The last good lancers were in 2002, 2003 (both OZ Rally of course, shoutout to the glorious yellow one), and 2009 GTS trim.
EVERYTHING ELSE fucking was such a gargabe car.
Look at an 09 Lancer and look at a 2017 Lancer. Interior's are both the same: low quality, awful, unimpressive.
A shame.
>>16777701
it makes the best ecobox sub compact grocery getter on the market atm
>>16777701
As a name badge for Renault imports, and a design testbed for Nissan.
Why were they discontinued?
>>16777706
I was at home browsing /o/ when OP "lancer is kill"
"no"
>>16778689
They weren't selling enough probably. Mitsubishi is actually a really poor company that's had to sell itself to survive
>>16778689
Mitsubishi couldn't/refused to keep up with its competition. The compact 4-door market is contentious and Mitsubishi dragged their feet in keeping the Lancer fresh.
And Lancer Evolution sales can't buoy the entire model.
>>16777568
WHY GOD WHY
>>16777568
>Mitsubishi's entire lineup now consists of crossovers and econoboxes
>WRX v EVO is over forever
>you will never experience the Evo VII release hype ever again
We live in the wrong timeline. Goodnight sweet prince.
Mitsu is a sad pathetic mess. Look at their concepts for production cars

Mitsubishi won 12 Dakar rallies, more than any other manufacturer. And now look at them.
>>16778789
This doesn't make me laugh,
It just makes me sad.
no tears, they haven't done anything interesting with it in a decade and continually get rekt by wrx
Just what exactly happened to Mitsubishi? Back when I was in high school, circa 2000, they had a pretty good reputation and you actually saw their cars on the road. I can't recall the last time I saw a Mitsubishi.
>>16779502
FEAR NO EVO
Having an "arch rival" car was fun though :(
>>16777568
>tfw no evo space wagon
>>16779599
2000 is when they forever ruined the Eclipse. That might be the beginning of their long slow descent, at least in North America IMHO
>>16777568
At least it will die staying pure, unlike its rival.
isnt it becauseof that one promo where everyone leased but couldnt pay so they had all these used vehicles and noone to sell too
>>16779614
In my BRZ the "arch rival" car is a Corolla, or any other shitbox that will be faster than me if I don't shift and launch perfectly. feels bad man.
>>16777568
my mom and uncle both drove mitsubishi lancers. A bit sad there are no old RWD lancers alive I can get
>>16779642
Literally why I sold mine. "Sports car" my ass when a Corolla full of children + groceries can smoke me at a stop light.

They've always been outspent by STI.

This is the American opinion.

Nissan hasn't unveiled the Z35 yet... But even though I'm scum, I'm not holding my hopes high.
The Supra's around the corner, though I'm not sure of the BMW drivetrain.
What's Honda got anyway?
>>16777568
I don't see a problem with this. The evo is the only thing worth buying to roll out of mitsubishi factories in the last 20 years, and since it has been gone the lancer has just been what it always was outside of its special variants; a truly awful shitbox
>>16781400
>only Honda remains

Not that I'm saying the Genesis is a godmachine everything killer, but at least they are putting forward some sort of effort
>Mitsubishi USA lineup now is just crossovers and Mirage shitbox
>>16781400
That STi Crosstrek is a limited production factory rice package, nothing more. It doesn't even have an engine upgrade over the anemic 148hp turd that the regular one has. It's not replacing anything.
>>16783206
Don't forget the i-MiEV

>>16783195
>>16787630
only thing I can say against their older cars is that the engines are a bit rough and don't make much power
also them looks -not that I care
I used to have a first gen coupé
good grip and tip top ride comfort
also a really nice stereo
>>16780768
and now the AMG one
>>16787630
>saving pixelcars in .jpg format
don't do this
Before I had my SW20 I used to drive my mom's '09 110HP base Lancer. I thought it was fine, especially in corners. It didn't understeer at all, it actually slightly oversteered if you drove it over the limit. I'd definitely take it over a Corolla or a Focus any day of the year.
I had an '03 LS. It was little more than an econobox by that point but it was reliable and comfortable enough. The interior trim at that time was up to par with the other Jap econoboxes of the era. I think that was the last Lancer generation that they actually tried to compete with the other brands. Good car.
>>16787661
>ride comfort
They definitely got that down but I can't say the same for the stereo. Mine went out in less than a year. I always liked the Tiburon but the fact that it's FWD is a big turnoff.
>>16788566
I'm not sure what you mean.
