I have no idea honestly. Most people who buy them don't even use them for work/hauling junk in the bed. I daily pic related, boring but viable for my job as a truck should be.

I also never understood the whole crew cab short bed thing as I always thought that defeats the purpose of a "pickup" truck. Not practical for work related shit, just a family hauler with a bed. Only thing I can picture you fitting in there is a quad bike, groceries, luggage for trips, or use it for a mobile pool.

Well,my guess would be the bed rotted away and the guys I bought it from said fuck it and stuck those on. They just used it to chase cattle around.

I own a truck because I take it up in to my dad's property to go cut up firewood and bring it back to town, sure I could use a smaller vehicle and a trailer but I doubt that a car could safely go up/down a steep, muddy fire road with 3 cords of wood in the back. Old GM 6.5 ain't much for power but it gets the job done and with almost 200k on the clock it's been nice to me. The extra income that the truck brings in along with my job allows me to support my lifestyle, so long story short many Americans that own trucks use them as tools to do a job.

Pretty much the only reason I own a truck is because the bed, 4x4, and towing capability come in handy when I go /out/. I drive it around empty most of the year.

I own a 4x4 wagon, and while it meets most of my objectives (like simplicity, economy and capability), the one thing that would improve it for my purpose is losing the rear cargo area for a dropside flatbed cut behind the second row seat. I've had a gutfull of stuffing crap into the back that should go outside, and being limited in hieght is a pain in the ass.

Unless you need a 7 seat 4x4, fuck wagons.
