There's no analogy between car polish and colored shoe polish. For shoes, the color soaks in and thus is shown. For cars, colored polish is a gimmick because it doesn't soak in to change the color.
Repeated waxing with items such as _liquid_ Meguar's Gold Class wax will deepen the color as the silicon oils penetrate into the surface. So your yellow will eventually look less lemon yellow and more like regular deeper yellow after a few months if you wax with Gold Class liquid wax.

That's the life OP. You can wrench on a shitbox without worrying about breaking shit.

Are you sure that's not just the normal color?

just cut/polish, colored polishes serve no purpose as the fade that you're seeing is actually in the clear coat. Cutting and polishing kits use very fine grits and abrasions to remove the very top part of the clear coat removing the cloudyness just be sure to
>clay bar before you do anything like this otherwise you'll just smear scratches into your paint
>make sure you actually have a clear coat so your car doesn't end up like that one anon's UTE
>seal the paint after you're finished, because you're taking off part of the clear coat you'll want to seal it in order to keep the paint in the best condition possible to eliminate the frequent need of cutting/polishing as it wears down your clear coat
>test compounds and pads in a small area before using them on the whole car in case you fuck up
