Also I'm out of Corolla pics. My computer died a few months ago. Using a borrowed laptop until my new laptop arrives next week.

yes. Apparently, it's an almost direct bolt on. It's a bit wide, so you either need to use self-tapping screws to screw the sides into the fenders, or take an inch or so from the middle of it.

That's what a lot of people said about the Toyota mr2 1st and 2nd gen now they're getting cubed or crashed because most people that find out about them

This. I don't want normies to start appreciating the car before I get a chance to buy it.
>>
>>16758722
Trust me, they won't
It's not like a Civic where you can easily swap in a B series
The only way you can make power is either 7AGE which is expensive and too complicated for normos, or swapping in a 4AGZE/20V, which are still expensive as fuck, or the 3S which is even more expensive and involves custom dabbing which scares normos

tl;dr E90/100s aren't going to appreciate anytime soon
>>
Hey i kinda like these now, why should I buy one of these over an 86 though?
>>
https://killeen.craigslist.org/cto/6014232374.html
Is this worth it and the post says it has a 4AGZE engine but I thought those are supercharged engines I don't know much about corollas I figured the corolla thread would know
>>
>>16758787

Nothing wrong with a corolla
>>
>>16758791
4AGZEs are a common starting point for boosted Corollas because the internals are forged from the factory, I'd be more concerned about who did the work, but if it was done right it would make more power turbo'd than supercharged
>>
>>16758848
Oh ok I see now is that price point around normal
>>
>>16758831
Get a swift, put some food trays under the rear wheels and pull the handbrake. You haven't lived if you didn't do this.
>>

All AE86's are overpriced. it's why the FWD Corollas are starting to gain popularity.
>>
>>16758840
no youre right i agree with you. I just would rather have alighter car if i was getting an ff. down the road when racing doesnt matter i actually may buy an E100 but right now all the weight counts.

Fx16 is 2100lbs
>>
>>16758868
For a modified E86, yeah
Unfortunately fuccbois like him think money in = money out
>>
>>16758913
Exactly, thats more in line with the kidnda ff i would consider. My dream would be to have all 3 cars an 86, an aw11 and the fx16 to have the full set. The issue is that they are overpriced for whet they are, I could have the same power and wight in a civic for less and spend the leftover money making it even faster.
>>
>>16758931
My last fx was $300 running.
Even an e100 is 2300lbs and cheap as hell.
My last 3 mr2s were $1000 or less running too.
My last ae86 gts i traded a barely running accord for.
>>
>>16758889
>>16758906
Ok well thanks Anons I will try to see how the interior looks and who did the work and try to talk him down from there
>>
>>16758906
>>16758931
E100s only weigh 2300lbs, quit being autistic about the weight
The main advantage the FX16 is the chassis, it's the best platform of the FF Corollas for handling

The best thing about the E100 is the flexibility of engine swaps and the aesthetics
>>
>>16758947
i havent seen cheap fx16s in my area but i belive you, i got an aw11 for 700 and it rocked strong for months. clutch broke and i dint see worht pulling engine and all that for a 270k mile one. ill just buy a new one and start from a better position.
damn i honestly didnt know the e100 was 2300 thast really not bad at all for what they are!
where were you looking for the fx16 when you found it?
>>
>>16758973
Some guy had it on a trailer ready to take to the scrap yard.
Needed very little work but he didnt care. Offered $300. Which was more than the junk yard offered. He dropped it at my house.
>>

>>16760200
Yeah that's the one. I was gonna start with an intake but it turns out they have a cai stock.
>>
>>16760183
depends on the generation. 98-02 Corollas and 03-08 Corollas/Matrixs/Vibes all used the 1ZZ but had very different chassis' underneath so they have different aftermarkets.
>>
>>16760219
It's an 06
>>
>>16760233
now that we've establish which aftermarket to use, there's another.
Do you want to keep the stock 1ZZ?
There are 2 very different swaps that have been done.
The 2ZZ drops in using factory mounts but uses its own computer so the wiring harness is different.
Another swap that's starting to catch on is on pioneered by MonkeyWrench Racing, which is to swap in a Honda K-series engine
http://monkeywrenchracing.com/k-series-swaps-for-lotus-and-toyota/
>>
>>16760252
I definitely want to swap in a 2zz down the road, maybe even boost it. Right now though I'm just trying to squeeze 15-20 hp out of the 1zz to give it a bit of pep
>>
>>16760270
That's pushing it. I can see 5 maybe 10 with basic bolt ons, but You're not going to get much farther than that. If you plan to swap to a 2ZZ, then what's the point of modifying the 1ZZ. Why not spend the money instead getting the chassis setup.
>bigger wheels with performance tires
>Catback exhaust
>performance shocks/struts (I recommend Koni Yellows)
>lowering springs (I'd personally go TRD but your choice)
>Sway bars
>rear disc conversion
>bigger front brakes

Then start tracking down parts for the 2ZZ swap.
>>

>Not realizing they themselves are the drooling fucking masses

>Not realizing that the prices on SX's and GTI's and any Corolla worth a shit have already skyrocketted in value

>>
>>16760305
Because by the time he's done doing all the suspension mods he'll be bored with it or broke

Do the engine swap first
>>
>>16760305
For the 2zz I just need the ECU, harness and to convert the throttle cable right?
>>
>>16760315
I believe so. contact Monkey Wrench for more info. They've done these swaps before multiple times.
>>
>>16760312
Problem is I'm broke as shit and saving for an f body. All I want to do with it right now is make it a bit more peppy. Then when I'm done with school I'll be able to do the 2zz, suspension, brakes, etc

A catback and an intake should do you well then. Changing the sound and adding a few horses make not make it as peppy as you want, but it'll keep you interested long enough.

There's also a TRD exhaust to consider.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfSv3I9yLcQ

Toyota part number: PTR03-02061
The TRD exhaust is similarly priced to the Magnaflow, at $539

and since the exhaust can stay when you do the 2ZZ, here's how it sounds on a 2ZZ car.

>>16760183
mine always squeal. the car is pretty much stock except for a monkey wrench lightened steel flywheel and act clutch. Well I also changed the intake to a weapon r short ram with a jet mass air flow sensor although I'm not sure how much of an effect that have. These are michelin pilot as3s that are squealing. I definitely get the feeling the car could handle more HP though. I'm just not that interested in spending the time and money to get it. Rather than anything else I'd rather just lighten the car if I could. It's actually quite fast without the spare and jack kit.

>>
>>16760683
Yeah the XRS has a 190hp 2zz in it so your tires squeal a lot more than mine. The 1zz only has like 120hp so I have to be on a hill or really lay into a turn to break the tires loose. I might end up making a diy short ram intake

Not really, the only 7A worth doing is 20V GTE, and that shit gets expensive when using the 20V head, and you have to get a dabbed turbo manifold because the exhaust ports aren't the same, and the fact that you have to use the ITB's and the stock plenum box is shit

No, people who don't mind spending 15k on a 7A that's reliably putting down 500whp turbo a 20V

https://youtu.be/D36yzdR9fIA
>>
>>16761961
That's dumb though anon 20V is a good N/A engine but objectively worse for Turbo applications according to our lord and savior Bill
>>
>>16761978
You can get that on a large port 16v.
Also the 20v manifold bolts to a 16v with a tiny bit of modification.
No reason the turbo mani wont work on a 20v.
Which is still stupid
>>
Anyone had any experience putting a 4EFTE in E90?
Currently running a 2E carbed engine. But since its on its last legs, I was thinking of swapping in a 4EFTE. The mounts are supposed to be the same. I'd have to make my own engine wiring harness. Bellhousing isn't quite the same nor are the holes in adapter plate.
Can anyone offer me advice on what am i going to face?

Bill does know his shit, but he's also biased, and the kiwi I linked proves that not only is it doable, it's preferable for a 7A

See if you're going to go for a smallport, you might as well get a E100 4AGZE and just swap the blower for a turbo, the 200cc difference is pointless when you go this route

Are you telling me I can sell the 4As I have sitting in my garage for money?

I've got 2 3 ribs and a working GZE in my Aw11, and another broken GZE I got off a friend. Who the fuck are buying these motors/cars with these motors?
>>

How much for the ribs?
>>

Why the fuck do people want 3 rib bluetops? The 7 rib is where its at.

I got 160 out of mine before blowing it, is it really just meme power?

I dunno man I could get rid of them for like 500 each, they need to be rebuilt tho.

160 impresses you? Why?

I mean, the 4AGE isn't a bad motor, I learned alot about the inner workings of engines with mine, but its past its prime man, you would be much better off with something modern. My GZE is around 180~ according to my butt dyno.

Not quite sure how to answer. Here in America, the only engine available is the 2ZR-FAE, and it's pretty decent. but it's endlessly reliable here in America with that engine. American models get a different front and rear end, but is otherwise identical.

Wouldn't slapping a heavy V6 into the front of a lightweight shitbox ruin the handling?

The 1NZ-FE is a lot lighter than most V6's it competed with, and the iron block A-series 4 cylinders were fairly heavy. A 1MZ-FE is actually lighter than a 3S-GE/3S-GTE that's a popular swap (MR2 guys figured out the weight difference). so the handling shouldn't be much different.

Since you bring it up.
Its aluminum block and makes the same power(ish) as the 4afe.
So its much lighter and would be able to achieve 40+ mpg in a light chassis like the E100.
Plus it will bolt to the same trans. The aw11 guys have been swapping them

isnt a 7A-GE literally a bolt on mod?

apart from the fact that the FE only has one camshaft sprocket, i guess you'd have to use an aftermarket timing belt or something

Has anyone ever done a 'budget MR2' build, taking something like an AE82 or 92 and putting a 3S or 1MZ in the back?

I know there'd be a fair bit of welding involved to mount a subframe with the engine in the rear, swapping the struts, etc, but has it been done?

Can it be done cheaper than buying a decent condition MR2 in 'straya?
>>

Than explain the popularity of Honda K20 builds.
The fact is the aftermarket never took to the ZZ engines like it did to the K-series or even GM's own Ecotec engines.

GM has had more success in the tuner aftermarket with the Ecotec 4 cylinder than Toyota has with the ZZ engine family. Think about that for a moment.
>>
>>16772896
OK, but what are your transmission options? IIRC there is no manual that can bolt up to the 1MZ, and I think it would be a cock tease to drive an auto V6 E100

I don't understand why people would do a 7A-GE/GTE when you can swap the ITBs on a Silvertop for a intake manifold with single throttle body and throw boost at it, I mean you have to swap pistons and use a standalone ECM, but it would be better than dealing with the headaches associated with the 7A
>>
>>16776380
20v isnt that great for boost. A large port 4age is. Or large port 7age
>>
>>16776481
Then explain that everyone who goes the 7AGTE route uses a 20V head and can get 400whp easily? The same can be applied to the 20V
Google yoshimitsuspeed 20V
>>
>>16776498
Im not saying it cant be done. Just that the flow of the large port is better for boost.
>>
>>16776523
How is the 20V inferior to the large port? The velocity and volume is better in the 20V head than in the large port head
>>
>>16776548
Weak rods, high compression, lower lift cams, ITBs.
Takes much more work.
Like i said. Its possible. The LP is just as good and simpler to work with.
>>
>>16776557
>Weak rods
That's the Blacktop, Silvertop has same rods as 4AGZE
>Lower lift cams
Negated by the VVT, which is more beneficial in boosted applications
>ITBs
Like I said previously, there are kits for intake manual swap with single throttle body negating the issue

It's just like any other 4A but better
