It's how it started for me as well OP.

When I was 15, my dad forced me to learn stick and do it well before I can touch an auto. Then he forced me to actually get my license at 17. I never cared about driving or anything like for 10 straight years. Just thought it was a chore.

Then I recently watched Initial D (like a half year ago), binged it, and now for the first time in my life I have interests in cars and improving my driving skills. I'm actually having fun driving for once. It doesn't help that I live in SoCal making a living an IC courier for a year now, so it just went full blown autism. A job I hated is now fun. I blast eurobeat and lazerhawk everyday all day.

A few months ago in the fall I was just like you. First I realized I would not survive the winter with my Civic, so I started looking into more suitable vehicles for winter driving. I had to learn why certain vehicles were better suited to certain conditions, and started learning about 4WD vs AWD, ground clearance, weight ratings, etc. This led me into FWD vs RWD, suspensions, and cornering ability. All of this raises more questions, so I started trying to understand drive trains and vehicles as systems.

I read the owner's manual for my car to try to learn everything about it, then found some Youtube channels since you can learn faster and more effectively sometimes by watching than reading technical documentation. Some channels that helped:

The two best car channels on Youtube in my opinion are Engineering Explained and ChrisFix. Watch as many of their videos as you can, even if it doesn't really make sense at first. You'll start remembering systems and components and how everything works together after a while. Eric the Car Guy and Scotty Kilmer are also pretty good channels for fixes and general advice. SaabKyle04 is good for very detailed techical reviews of cars. I might be forgetting a couple good ones, but everything else I've found so far seems to be a meme/clickbait/waste of time.

Here's the general order I would recommend to learn as much as you can:
>Read your owner's manual cover to cover
>Look up as many reviews for your car as you can
>Find your car's Wikipedia page and open every hyperlink that looks important as you read
>Read all those pages too
>If you don't understand something, check Youtube or HowStuffWorks to see if there's a video or article about it
>Watch as many ChrisFix and Engineering Explained videos as you possibly can

As others have suggested, you can also look up a couple oil change tutorials and then follow the owner's maunal to start doing that and other basic maintenance.
