When did the AE86 truly start to pickup in price? I seriously remember back in the late 90's that they were still being used regularly and were pretty cheap for what you had recieved. It's a shame that their price now goes against what they were originally made for, a cheap, fun, entry level economy/sports car. Also another noob question, why hasn't the AW11 reached the same prices as the AE86, they basically the same thing.
>weebtax
they were stupidly priced in the late 90s/ early 2000s imo
I remember seeing them for $3-$5000 back then
and the AW11 has no racing heritage or anime exposure
(it has the Over-Rev manga though which is better than Initial D anyway)
what about the 510? its better than the Ae86 anyway?

better at being worse in every way
>>16753974
we have this thread every single day god damn.
>It's a shame that their price now goes against what they were originally made for, a cheap, fun, entry level economy/sports car
I mean if we are being serious, its still cheap if you are willing to pay the tax. for $8k you can get a stupid clean one. $8k is nothing for a car regardless of what it is.
>why hasn't the AW11 reached the same prices as the AE86, they basically the same thing.
so because they both have flip up head lights they are basically the same thing? right lol. Ae86 is all around better looking and handling than an MR2

>Ae86 is [...] better handling than an MR2
What the actual fuck am I reading?
Initial D aside AE86's make great track day cars whether it's for grip racing or drifting.
same thing cannot be said for MR2's.
>>16754008
do people actually think the MR2 handles better?
lmao
let me guess you only think this because hurr MR
>>16754000
it has IRS. how the hell is it worse
>>16754008
AW11 MR2 in general is more of a sports car compared to the AE86 but they both have great potential depending on budget.
but the AE86 has a MUCH bigger parts availability than the AW11; especially when it comes to things like high quality lightweight body parts.
>>16754022
yeah because that is all that matters
AE86 is much much better balanced
>>16754008
It depends on what your intention would be...
I have both an N/A 87 Aw11 and a zenki GTS Ae86
Aw11= I think has better grip while on the throttle during cornering.
Ae86= definitely waaay better suited for drifting especially with the solid rear end. Way easier to control once the rear breaks loose, just steer/modulate throttle input/ or floor it.
But stock for stock I'd say a 88-89 GZEd s/c Aw11 would be the better performer.
I'd personally only choose the 86 cause you have room for tires and passengers.

better balanced? you crazy fool
>>16754042
its not even up to debate its an objective fact
