cunts I got an overdue parking fine which is now $300.
Parked in a permit zone but came up with the excuse that car wheel had come loose while driving and I had gone to a mates place to get tools to fix it.
They rejected it twice and now it's 300$.
Anyway to get a reduced fine or should I go to court. don't want to get raped.

Okay ill explain
I have a set of 4 genuine CV8r rims
2 the tires were roasted when I got the car (wonder why) amd I didnt have enough money to comfortably replace all 4
Was looking to buy a couple of steelies with roadworthy tread (needed a spare anyway)
Then these came up, look pretty close to the others with brand new tread (only westlake sv308's though)
My biggest issue though is thr guy who owned the car spray painted the original rims all black, so that bush is there to tactically hide that the rears are black

Plan is to strip those to original, put on probably re003's, then retire these to be my spares

Hey lads has anyone been to Norwell Motorplex on the goldcoast? Thinking of having a go on the skidpan and track.

I just want to learn how to drift for fun not competitively so I want to use my vy daily.

Should I just start off at a skidpan and then go to a drift matsuri or something? I'm currently watching drift bible on youtube but would it be wise to get lessons on drifting first? Thanks.

Blown 86 engine fag here.

So many hostile comments last threads mate. I realize its a pretty shit car but I got a good deal on it.

I'm no mechanic I don't check the oil every week. I did do 6,000 in like a month and a half though I've had the car for almost 3 years in the last year and a half I really just lost interest in checking the fluids etc I pay the dealerscum $500 for servicing anyway.

Anyway. I fucked the dealer too though.

Before this engine broke my seat was off its axis and just wobbled around and lots of wear and tear on the upholstery which they agreed to fix under warranty 3 months ago. 2 months before the engine broke.

I went to the dealership today and told them to fix it.

It'll cost them $2400 for a brand new seat. + a lot of plastics have come off and other minor problems which I said has fucked my car and is manufacturing fault. Felt in the window lining failing and scratching tint etc so now they have to fork out $4000 to fix it under warranty despite them not fixing the engine.

I told the guy as well after they do all those repairs I'm just planning on selling those seats and clips as spare parts he got so annoyed but kept his cool.

lol anyway $42000 to put a second hand engine in that's only done 12,000k's.

not too bad for a 2014 86 despite buying it brand new for 24.5 grand (thanks discount)

anyway lads

who wants 2014 86 with brand new second hand engine!
>>
>>16743869
So $4300-4600 loss for driving an 86 for 3 years

Does that sound like decent depreciation

Not bloody likely, I'm afraid. It's pretty shaky and unless you can prove to the court that you did go to a mate's place for tools it'll be thrown out right away. As for appeals, they wouldn't care if you had stopped to save a bunch of kids in a flaming school bus from a fiery death.
>>
>>16743842
Buy an overpriced Silvia or 180 and trailer it to drift days.

Drifting your daily never ends well.

What if you bin it into a wall? You're out of a car.

If you can't afford a track only car, the fuck makes you think you can afford all the other expenses? Tyres, track fees, getting the car set up, fixing shit constantly etc.
>>
>>16742725
I reckon pop on steelies anyway. Steelies look tough as shit. Doubly so if you can get black fender guards and the solid tray cover off an equivalent generation Maloo too.

You're already halfway there. Get a second car like a Corolla for a daily and relegate the Commo to sideways duties.

Europoor reporting it.
What year and what engine is crucial on Skoda. Basically an larger but cheaper VW Golf.
>Engines to avoid :
1.2TSI is plagued with problems
1.0TSI...just no
1.6TDI with w/e power output is too small
>Best engines
1.4TSI is the most balanced engine performance/price/fuel consumption/maintainance
2.0TDI is the bread and butter engine in the VAG group. No notable problems known on the Octavia and Golf 2.0TDIs ( the ones on the Passat B6, Touran and Audi A4 & A6 of old are known to be garbage )
2.0TFSI - sensational engine, might be available only on the Octavia RS which has sport suspension that will shatter your bones.

>As any new VW, the current Octavia's suffer from the same problems as the entire VAG range, with failing electronics, fragile engines and shoddy build quality. Skoda used to be the budget brand of VW but now it pretty much leveled out.

If you want a sturdy Octavia that will do whatever you throw at it, get one of these. Or w/e generation. And the 2.0TDI is a proven work-horse.
Apart from the electronics, the Octavia is built like a tank. Clutches last for as long as 350,000 kms and bushings for about 50,000 km of rough roads. I can confirm these numbers because one of these lives in the family. It's done 450,000 km but it's still going like new, given proper maintainance.
>>
>>16744765
STOP spouting shit falcunt
In no way but name is it an audi rs anything. The octavia rs uses the mk7 gti engine, which isn't bad anyway. And skodas are typically cheaper than most vag cars to own

Something extremely lightweight and naturally aspirated (that isn't modified or home made) made before January 1, 2010. Like Queensland, Cucktoria only uses power to weight for cars made after 2010.

As such, I'd probably recommend a Caterham or similar NA kit-car (that's been assembled from the factory or by a domestic manufacturer), if you can find one. A top of the range 2009 Caterham or Lotus would be insane.
>>
>>16744939
I'll probably go for the lotus Elise or Extige if possible
>>
>>16744944
I'd put my money on a caterham beating one, but if I lived a fantasy land where I was a p plater with rich parents, I'd go the lotus too... Why not have both? It'd have been so cool to turn up to school in a caterham or lotus, to have some year 8er scratch it up.
>>
>>16744948
Caterham is way too open imo. Apparently the RX8 Is OK?
>>
While I was reading up on Victoria's p-plate laws to make sure I wasn't spurting out shit in case they changed them, I found this

Overseas licence holders
If you are a temporary visa holder and you hold a current overseas probationary licence, you are not bound by these rules. You can drive any probationary prohibited vehicle as long as you are using your current overseas driver licence.

Literally cucked by Ahmed. Doesn't matter what you drive because Ahmed will be able to smash you in his gold-wrapped Lamborghini.

>>16744953
A caterham or Lotus would shit on an RX8, no questions asked. If we're living in a fictional fantasy land, why does it matter if it's an open top? Furthermore, Lotuses come in targa and hard tops.
>>
>>16744953
RX8's are slow as hell.

>>
>>16744981
If this fantasy is actually real and you are the offspring of former yuppies, do you think they'll let you drive such an expensive death trap?

Trust me, I'd fucking love it but unless your parents are bogans who have just won the lottery, I doubt any parent who has earned enough money to buy their son a $50k car is going to let you get a Lotus.
There's just no incentive in doing it; it'd be a 2009 model which means no tax write-off, it's dangerous as shit (not me saying that, what a 50-something would say) and insurance will be insane if it even exists for a p-plater owning one.

Just get a Fiesta ST.

Yeh I have to agree that would be shit. I "can" afford a dedicated track car, it's more the fact that I want to save the money for a proper car after I am off my Ps.
and like you said, s chassis are overpriced. Fixing the commy would be cheaper than most other cars I assume anyway.

>>16744136
You sound half sarcastic haha. Nah but that actually sounds like a good idea. It's already got coilovers(proper ones), just need some decent light weight wheels and a locked diff.

>>16744195
Wasn't really keen on street drifting until I got real good. My insurance thinks an old asian lady(mum) drives a manual v6 commy.

How bad is drifting for a car compared to normal track use? I know it'll wear everything out quicker but being a v6 commy, should be easy to go to the wreckers and get parts I need for cheap.

Well put it this way, if it's from somewhere they can't properly check whether you did it or not, then it means nothing to them, and they don't care.

If the degree is meaningful, then they can see if you're full of shit, they will also try and ask you specific and circumstantial questions to see if you actually did the degree, and didn't fail it.

One more thing, the only places that won't check are dodgy asian/wog places, or cash in hand blue collar sort of shit, no job that is decently formal or professional will let you get away with lying about a degree, so I really wouldn't bother. If you must, get like a basic cert from tafe, and even try and get some low paid or volunteer work for experience, I have no idea what field you're going into, but you need balls and mastermind manipulation to pull off a fake degree.

You can get used super 7s (back before they used duratec) for like 30k.

Westfield is basically a Lotus 7 replica and they're made in aus and use a 4A-GE. Won't have the issue of the T50 shitting the bed so early on because of less weight. A good westfield is like 20k-30k. Most of them are sold by club members on forums (e.g. ozclubbies) rather than through carsales.

I agree, though. A new caterham is a joke in Australia. They're like 100k for a half decent one; may as well just get a RoaringForties GT40 for that kind of dosh.

>This annoys me, one simply can not fly a phantom 4 drone above that many people after dark legally. This is the sort of thing CASA should be prosecuting. It put those people using drones legally and safely in a bad light.

>This photo was taken with a Phantom 4- massively illegal without redundancy, ReOC and night exemptions.

>@Civil Aviation Safety Authority - CASA - You ever want a case to prosecute, a RPA flight over 65000 people at Domain Stadium might be a good place to start.

>Who are the typical drivers of an 86/brz in Australia?
The 86 varies a bit, from cunts on their P's with cashed up parents (or it's used and financed) to middle aged men who wanted a cheap sports car. A lot of the prospective "tuners" they aimed for when developing the Toyobaru went for cheaper 90s/00s Jap sports cars instead, with greater potential and equally large aftermarket support.

The BRZ seems to be driven largely by fuckwits who were willing to pay more as to not be stuck with a Toyota badge. While I've seen plenty of done-up 86es I've never once seen a BRZ treated in the same way. So I'd reckon poseurs who buy them in automatic.

>how about WRX drivers?
Lebs, wogs, and speedbois of all ages. Something about the WRX and STi of all generations urges the driver to be a bit of a cunt. All the blokes who buy an 86 looking for the affordable solution to their midlife crisis should just get the longest surviving riceburner from the 90s instead.

Which one though?

So many. 335 or 325?

>>
>>16753846
First of all, you need to make sure your car has a transmission tunnel. Most FWD cars still have this from when the chassis was used in RWD but sometimes manufacturers will delete it.

As far as the conversion goes:
>Find running gear from RWD car with similar length and width.
>Find engine mounts for RWD version of your engine (otherwise you'll need to make some)
>Install RWD running gear
>Flip engine around and mate with transmission
>Install longer cables and hoses to suit the change in engine position
If you can, try to source your gear from a RWD car made by the same manufacturer so you know everything will bolt in properly.
>>
>>16754048
6 series go for between 30k - 40k and with a 3 series I'd pick the most powerful engine every time.

The 330 and 335 of course would be the most powerful but it really depends on what you want. You can get a nice cheaper one if you scale back on power since that's where the pricing comes from.

>>
>>16754333
>might go private since much cheaper. lots of lebs who answer the phone when I ring so they might thrash em

Beware buying from any ethnic person that has a luxury car. Thrashing the car isn't all they've done, they've also gone cheap or even neglected basic maintenance altogether. I'd personally pay that bit extra and get one from a dealership with a warranty.
>>
>>16754356
According to reliability reports, the 4 series and 6 series have been the most reliable of the newer ranges. Servicing will be about the same as any other new luxury car but if you can find a mechanic that is BMW approved instead of going to the dealership, then you're all good.

They're fairly rare on the streets since most people are just businessmen that buy the 3 series or the 5 series.
>>
>>16754356
My guess would be tires being the most expensive. Runflats can set you back a fair bit, but you can change wheels and tires instead of this. Besides that, regular servicing should be normal for a new luxury car
>>
>>16754381
Changing the wheels would be a good idea. There's some nice sets out there.

>>16751313

even basic IT degrees from unis arent worth much unless you are going for a shit tier support job. employers will want to see previous projects, proof you are worth something to them. not just another 'tech geek' who knows how to work a spreadsheet

>>16754398
TAFE courses on the whole are pretty pointless, I've actually heard some places would actually pass on you just because of having a TAFE cert.

Your're milage may vary but alot of places wonder why i didnt have the 500+ other certs and shit like cisco, windows, programming skills, web dev (massive meme shit hours shit pay shit work) and expect you to know every obscure little thing ever.

IT would have been fine back in the 80-90's boom but here in aus we have been outsourcing constantly since the early 2000's
>>16754417
>Real experience and knowing someone are the only ways anymore.
Absolutely, but this is true with all work here now not just IT
>>16754528
>Things like science and engineering are real educational degrees.
Which are worth jack shit in Australia because you have to go overseas because we cut all that back leaving shit all jobs for new grads

>>16754604
Yes but having lots of money is not all you want in life.

You want to be wealthy, healthy, happy and educated as well as having interesting experiences.

Help me guys. I'm considering swapping my cloth seats for leather seats since aesthetically they'd look great but I'm not sure I'd like how slippery leather can be around corners and how they can be ultra hot in summer and ultra cold in winter.

Should I get them or should I tell the guy I've changed my mind?
>>
>>16754726
Lol when did i meantion money? Where did you get that from?

>/dat/ projection

Anyways back to cars

>>16754800
Leather seats are a PITA

>hard to clean
>most older ones are pretty thin from wear or will crack easily and dry out in the aussie sun
>Horrible in summer
>Not good for hot tropical countries like aus since they HATE getting wet/dry all the time

Leave Leather to cold countries and make your shitbox "luxurious" some other way.

Also stay the fuck away from cheap 80-90s leather from Japan it is HORRID

ah yes i WILL take advice from the unemployed fat cunt who knows nothing and takes in $22 grand of welfare a year
>>
>>16755073
It would be German leather seats from the 80s. They're apparently quite good and I've never seen a cracked set before, that said though my car is rare in that it's the up most trim but the original owner picked cloth over leather.

I'm considering just opting out of the idea but I'm conflicted about it since they'd look nice and he's gone through a lot just do check a few things for me.
>>
>>16754569
Good work man. Maybe I'll give a short course a try?

>>16754577
Me too. I've been deciding for over 3 years what to do nothing appeals to me. It's scary. Idk how people straight from high school went to uni and new what they wanted. Why couldn't i be as simple as that
>>
>>16749822
Yeah they're crazy fucking popular in WA

DESU i'm still years off having a toy car, i don't even have a garage for my regular car.

Need a base color and the stripe's color.

Implying 86 isn't the best hardtop sportscar in it's price range?

What would you have instead for the same style of driving dynamics?

obviously i'd rather the MX-5 but for some people the hard top is a requirement. (INB4 RF, they just came out and they're xxxy)

holden astra, holden barina, any modern japanese/korean little hatchback
>>
>>16755193
that leather is THICC

Problem is it looks like it wont "breathe" very well here in aus though
>>
>>16751265
>Why are you not allowed to be pretentious if you're going to uni and getting a "real" job
The problem here is you assume a "real" job can only be gotten through university, which is a problem with australia right now, too many people feel like they have to go to uni to "do well" and end up overqualified and unemployed.

I definitely don't see many people at uni with an attitude of pretentiousness, most people at university are totally normal motherfuckers, especially after first year when all the people who don't like it have left for other things.

Old beemer. I mean, I love the cloth seats, but they don't feel as luxurious as leather. Also I thought leather seats were easier to clean and didn't stain like cloth can?
>>
>>16751303
>Did well first year of uni so getting a car
Lol, don't they wanna wait until you're out of the highschool catchup subjects before they reward you with a car like that? What do you get for finishing?
>>
>>16755282
its funny for me high end cloth seats CRAP over leather seats in comfort, breathing and are way easier to clean and maintain and a more resistent to wet/dry and easy as fuck to repair
>>
manuals are for manlets
>>
>>16755299
They're truly pretty comfortable, especially the rear ones (I swear nobody ever even sat in them before I got it). But still, most people regard leather as being luxury and I do on some level but the slippery feel might annoy me.

I considered keeping both sets and switching them out based on season (cloth for summer etc) but it would be a bitch to keep doing that plus there's storage issues since an entire set of car seats will take up space.

I've only got a few hours to decide.
>>
>>16755317
Up to you bud you'll see how bad leather feels after getting in the car after sitting in 30-50 degree sun all day
>>
>>16755316
Manualette reporting in!
>>
>>16755323
I've felt that feel, most people I know have leather seats. They're comfy but also not. My cloth ones haven't had any downsides really so I've really thought about it for muh luxury but maybe I don't really need them.

I still feel bad about pissing around this guy I'm buying them from, he went home from work early to check some things for me and broke down on the way. I'll feel like a cunt if I just call and say "yeah nah changed my mind now".
>>
>>16755341
i hated the slippy sliding feeling too and the stupid constant care and cleaning moistising crap you had to do to stop them cracking/smelling
>>
>>16755356
Well shit now I'm pretty divided on them. It's a large chunk of money to buy them and the colour is pretty rare and I might end up hating them for all the maintenance.
>>
>>16755379
So its a 80's bimmer like 5 series or 7 or what?

Unless you wunna put all that extra effort cleaning them and making them look nice dont bother

>>
>>16755441
yeah we use them still, try bunnings or coles/supermarkets have them too i think
>>
>>16755452

what do you do when your knees keep hitting the steering wheel and the seat is back all the way but your arms can barely reach the wheel

>>
>>16754455

>>
>>16755199
Astras suck for everyone, they aren't just for girls to hate. Modern jap/korean hatchbacks are driven by all kinds of people and none of their characteristics align with a gender, you're clearly a sperg.
>>
>>16755469
Well I've had a bit of a think and I'm considering letting them go. I do like how durable they are though, so as a substitute, what about if I got some Scotchgard and used that on my cloth seats?
>>
>>16755282

Currently working as a sourcer in the IT industry. I can back this 100% it doesn't matter what piece of paper you have. What matters is attitude, and a passion for what you do. Both of those combined leads to doing your own personal projects which you can show to employers. Once you land your first gig and get your foot in the door you're sweet, no one gives a fuck what uni you went to (most of it is out-dated shit anyways because they can't change the courses fast enough to meet the changes in the industry). Try getting in touch with someone who works as a resourcer/recruiter in the industry you want to work in and ask them their 2 cents.

You do realise taking expressions litteraly is a trait of autism?

Like if you said "hop in" to a highly autistic person they might actually think they want you to litterally hop.

Or even if you said "girls car" they may think that literally means a car specifically made for and designed for females... Like what you are doing now.

You should not call people Autistic if you don't even know what the word means.
