Dang man, that is a really tough spot.

For 5k, you could have an extremely immersed experience for virtual racing all the way up to a chair that has hydraulics installed to help u feel the G's happening in game.

As for a real life experience... shoot. I hope someone else can give a solid answer because I'm not very knowledgeable about older vehicles

Thanks for the response. I was reading up on sim racing games yesterday but my heart is definitely leaning towards getting an older car but I don't know think I'll be able to find anything in that price range so maybe I'll just wait ~10+ years until I have enough money to get a decent second car for fun.

Also, even if I did get a sim racing setup I would still probably stick to driving street cars.

Real life and vidya will never even be close. Hit up the local track and have some fun.

That's what I was thinking too -- the last video game I played was Gran Turismo 4 for about a year after it came out; the ps2 being my last system.

Best bang for your buck would probably be buying a honda and looking up engine swaps for it. You can put a lot of fucking power into all sorts of hondas for pretty damn cheap.

I've seen a few rotted out old SHO's run enduro's, hell there was a v8 jellybean in the last v8 enduro I ran. I had my trusty 300hp northstar to keep me happy, until the inevitable happened.
