Please help?
I just installed a legacy la590 ( https://www.amazon.ca/Legacy-Performance-Channel-Bridgable-Amplifier/dp/B00005Y6OL ) to a single alpine type R12 ( https://www.crutchfield.com/S-Lphsd7pkq3N/p_500WR1522D/Alpine-SWR-1522D.html ) Exactly those models...
Im using 8 guage wire.. the amp turns on with the radio telling me my remote/power/ground is ok, but as soon as i connect my speaker wires it goes into protect mode and wont give me anything. This is not true for the RCA cables
Basically i can connect everything except the speaker wires, as soon as i connect the speaker wires, the amp goes into protect. Im not very experienced but i think i matched up the sub-amp ok.. or is this an impendance/ohm problem?
Maybe im not wiring them correctly? i bridged the two outside ports (+,-) of the woofer, and connected the two middle ones together with a banana connector thingy. basically a wire. following the drawing on the amp i matched the two outside ports with that of the sub, bridging them... did i do something wrong?
I havent used this set-up before, so the speaker could actually be damaged but as far as i can tell its in good shape..
Any help is greatly appreciated :D
I have it wired up like in the picture, except my speaker says 2ohm 2ohm near the ports not 4ohm 4ohm
Using simple speaker wire for the sub to amp.
UPDATE i tried running the 4 ports directly from sub to amp's ports, therefore allowing a 2ohm impendance but this gave me nothing!
UPDATE
after calling an audio shop he suggested i wire the sub two inside ports to the two inside ports on the amp and bridge the outside ports on the sub, basically what i had set up initally.
I GOT THE GREEN LIGHT! but nothing is coming out of my sub at all.. and when i push the volume even a little bit the amp hops right back into protection mode.. FUCK
So i tried with a different speaker i had, a little 8 inch. I hook it up and same thing, the sub light now goes green, but nothing plays from the speaker and as soon as i push the volume even a little bit it goes right into protect mode....... Its not the RCA cables.......
ANY CLUE??? nobody has any idea..
Atleast, if something is broken, which is it the sub or the amp?
please shed some light
UPDATE
I've mistaken /o/ for my personal tech support forum. I'll gladly now show myself out and suck every dick I see along the way.
