As long as it's on the toegay a BRZ or 86 should do the job. It's disappointing in a line but if you're going downhill like a kamikaze pilot it's perfect. Consider also an Autech S15 (or turbo R32 or 200SX if legal on P's in Vic), an MX-5 (NA or NB) or some some sort of CA18 S13. With exception to the MX-5 you're going to be tailed relentlessly by the revenue raisers.

>Why is everything so fat?
Pedestrian safety standards, crumple zones in the event of a crash, and that most things are commuters or cheap like the 86 and BRZ with bottomless aftermarket options.

Dunno how rego works in your state, but you can't just tack on 3 months extra rego through the year, and buying new, you're getting an entire year anyway.

Is BP ultimate a meme if I drive one of these?

Is it worth going out of my way to find a BP over using shell or Caltex 98?
>>
Installed a new motormount in my Mazda 3, Taking off is 100x better, it used to be the engine hitting the firewall and smack shit up and wheel hop etc, now none of that happens and wheels lose traction rather than wheel hop etc. Its amazing. Also drones like a wrx with a canon but i like it.
>>
>>16726160
BP has the most refined fuel of the 3 but that also doesn't mean the others are necessarily bad either.
>>
>>16724924

https://strawpoll.com/4az33xz
>>
>>16726179
No doubt it's all a gimmick, just like how people put 98 in their NA shitbox because it's "cleaner"
>>
>>16726201
There is gimmick to fuel brands and octanes but 91 is objectively dirtier than 95 or 98 is.

95 is all you need really, 98 is over doing it unless the manufacturer says you need 98.
>>
>>16726205
But what if 95 is 3c less than 98?
>>
>>16726207
In that case I'd go 98 just because it will be very slightly cleaner.
>>
>>16726179
[citation needed}
Maybe it has the most filtered fuel from all of the imported fuel from singapore
>>
>>16726211
>>16726205
It all matters on transportation and storage imo, people who buy it for cleanliness are retarded

A load of 91 could be pristine compared to a load of 98 delivered from a filthy truck

Fuck that clusterfuck of a thread. IF you can find an immaculate HJ61 Landcruiser VX/Sahara with as many factory options (like the winch) and a 12H-T engine like the one you've pictured, jump at it, enjoy it, and keep it immaculate.
Worth noting J75 Landcruisers just don't depreciate and are like money in the bank.
There's a few nice import GQ Safaris getting around.
If looking at a diesel Paj, it's worth stepping up to the second gen. They got bigger gearbox and diffs. 2.8TD got 8" front and 9.5" 31 spline rear, although a neat original first gen Turbo Wagon would make a sound investment.

I vote the VX/Sahara, as long as it's a manual 12H-T.
>>
>>16726215
Also, that's what fuel filters are for
>>
>>16726215
That too. There are a lot of variables for fuel quality.
>>
>>16726212
Dunno about the east coast, but in WA BP have their own refinery.
>>
>>16726216
How many K's is a 12H-T good for realistically with maintenance? And yes I'm after Manual. Everything I'm seeing at the moment is 300thou, with a few rare examples well into 500-700thou.

I'm well and truly ready to put money into the thing, not money pit levels, but a fair bit to keep it going when it needs it.

Honestly, any of those diesels you've mentioned would have to suffer a failure to require a rebuild prior to 600,000kms, especially the Toyota and Nissan sixes. As long as the compression is good, it's not blowing any white/blue smoke and it's not missing then 300k kms wouldn't even bother me slightly. If it has got a miss, it could be a simple fix.
The Mitsubishi 4M4x diesels are also half million kilometer engines, but the first gen Pajero you mentioned was only available with a 4D5x diesel which was based on an Astron motor. The M series was released from the mid ninties.

An honourable mention, how about a BJ73 FRP top Cruiser? I'd specifically target a 13B-T (Toyota light truck diesel, not the rotary :P) powered version for longevity and reasonable economy. Unless you need a 5 door wagon.
>>
>>16726224
WA has it good as nearly all fuel used is from the Kwinana refinery. Thus you get a quality product.

Longevity and capability is about all I need in a 4x4, half a millon Ks blows my mind to think about, seeing as my current shitty moneypit Cressida is nothing by problems at 300thou on the dot. I'll take note of whatever recommendations you give me, if sure when I'm browsing I'll find the one that clicks with me.

I'm a bit of a fag when it comes to luxurious features, leg room and shit, and I like the look of the interior and exterior.

It's got all of that luxury crap and a big dumb LS-whatever powering it. Fuel thirsty but you're basically getting what limo companies like to use. It's something that feels better to be a passenger in than the driver of, but if you're after a luxurious and reasonably reliable car it's not a bad choice.

I don't think the WMs got the L77 or the cylinder deactivation feature, though.

As far as I can tell I don't but it's a total unknown considering all the wiring is 30 years old. The battery is at the back of the car anyway so no danger there at least.

>>
>>16732969
my car is 26 years old and i did it

might wanna check but if the car doesnt have any electricals fucked round with e.g stereo then it should be fine, if youre worried check the wires to be sure,

i gave it a wash, cleaned out the black gunk and then drove in into town and back (hour long drive) with no issues

im not an expert so probs consult someone more knoledgeable than me but the car didnt blow up so idk
>>
>>16732991
The stereo is a little vague. It's got an aftermarket unit and the cables are just twisted together with black tape, they slightly come undone when I go around corners. I'll fix it when I can be fucked.

Otherwise I think everything in the engine bay should be okay but I'll have a thorough look tomorrow. I'll still go with the pro though since it doesn't cost much and he knows what he's doing.
>>
>>16733006
by stero has someone routed amp wire or whatever is it to the battery if thats how its done,

my car has none of that, if youre on a sunny day the pressure washer evaporates pretty quick unlike a hose or a sponge which is why you dont do it with using those methods
>>
>>16733019
Nah nothing like that, just a regular unit. The car does have a stock amp but it's also located in the back of the car with the battery.

Thanks for the help anon.

>Be driving home

>suddenly out of fucking nowhere near my house this bloke and his wife (shes driving) almost hit me coming round a blind long corner.

I road up on the dirt narrowly missing them but not the stream of rocks that fucked up my windscreen and front of my car.

This guy is a fucking menace and has been doing this for years and i finally fucking snapped and did a uturn and chased him down to a X junction where he pulled up and got out of the passenger seat and without thinking just ran to the nearest post, i freaked out and naturally took off but he went and stood in the middle of the road as i turned back around to go home or just to get the fuck outa there (big mistake)

THEN what happened next is the fucking mad cunt went full mad max, grabbed a yellow Alum/steel star picket and ran out into the MIDDLE of the road as i came speeding back past the same X junction he got out at but going straight through this time, didnt know what was gonna happen so i gunned it and he aimed up this star picket and threw it at me (Big guy so it was literally rocketing towards us as we went by aiming at our heads passenger side) and it sailed over the roof and i kept going, ended up at a neibhours place and we calmed down for a couple of hours and went home im still fucking out of my mind

5 days later he gets charged with assault and intent and I got charged with furious driving driving dangerous.

If you don't check your oil level for 6000km, you deserve a big end failure. Engines (particularly high specific output engines) get blowby of varying levels of severity even within spec.
If your owner's manual specifically calls for weekly fluid level checks, then I'm afraid you're up shit creek if you admitted to them "Checked it 6,000KM ago it was full". Better get those oars and start paddling.

What gearbox and differential are you going to use? Some autoX/race cars use the donar bike's sequential box, but then they omit the reverse gear.
>>
>>16739382
Then you're probably not riding/driving it hard. Blowby is simply a byproduct of load in an internal combustion engine. That's why engines have fucking PCVs you genius. And it'd be apparent if you actually fucking check your fluid often over varying conditions.

Then you'd either;
a) notice it using a measurable amount of oil
b) don't check it and regularly run it low
The fact you admit "i've ran my ecotec since november with piss all oil and done like 10k km's" points to the latter. Good thing the Mangtec has fuck all pressure on its big ends on the account of it being 50hp/L.

nah mate i check it every now and then just to make sure theres a bit in there, just not worth topping it up
>>
>>16739449
Depends on how it's driven, it can absolutely burn enough oil to run it low. Especially in 6000km.
I feel sorry for the person stuck in the situation make no mistake. But it sounds as though it's going to be an expensive lesson.
>>
>>16739462
bullshit i beat on my ls1 for 25k and it already had 200k on it when i first got it, even with oil leaks it could hold what it was designed for for 4000-5000km+

So either old mate got a dud engine or worse
>>
>>16739451
As long as it's above the "low" mark, you're fine.
>>
>>16739237
your 86 burned ~4L of oil in 6,000km
didn't an oil light come on or oil pressure low message at all?
jesus christ you also didnt montior your levels over 6,000km of driving. you deserve whatever comes your way.
>>
>>16739465
its well below the add mark kek
>>
>>16739390
200ml if I really wanted to top it ip. 2600ml sump capacity. Hits redline WOT several times a day and has dyno tuned power commander.

I should change it at 6k km but I am just riding it into the ground and it still just keeps going.

It's certainly more highly strung than a shitbox 86.
>>
>>16739463
>bullshit, this anecdote on an irrelevant example proves you wrong
I'm surprised you have the neuron capacity to breath, let alone type a semi coherent sentence on a computer. Don't you have time to serve?
>>
I gotta order new plates for the shitmobile since old mate coppa has it in for me (again)

When i get the new plates (new number and style) what happens to the old ones after i turn them in?

Also gotta give old beast a make over it has

>no brakes, master cylinder shot.
>dodgy accelerator pedal (still but better than it was
>exhaust rattle, needs brackets

wish me luck brahs
>>16739478
Fuck knows its in the lawyers hands now
>>
>>16739471
She'll be right.. just ignore that ticking sound, all engines sound like that
>>
>>16739237
anyone else get off to dragging off 86 numale cucks (who cant read a dipstick) in old shitboxes?
hows that bill m8 :^)
>>
>>16739480

>When i get the new plates (new number and style) what happens to the old ones after i turn them in?
They get recycled into horse shoes
>>
>>16739488
I meant do they transfer said warrants/notes for "Hooning" onto the new plates?
>>
>>16739469
Doesn't have to burn all its oil out to spin a bearing. it only has to lose a litre or so and it can easily run a bearing dry with a little centrifugal influence.
>>16739471
IT'S GONNA BLOW kek.
Long live the Mangtec.
>>16739475
Good luck with that. And a 1.0L that makes 100hp is pretty well on par with a 2.0L that makes 200hp. If you calculated their BMEP you'd probably find they're comparable.
>>
>>16739483
mate she's never made a noise in her life

apart from the diff
>>
>>16739490
Those warrants and notes are applied to the individual, not the car. As long as the vehicle is licensed in your name, the actual digits on the plate are arbitrary.
>>
>>16739495
oh great.

Welp off to get a new identity.

Fuck knows what i did to piss this cop off but im guessing some evil neighbors got in his ear.

Hoping to get out of the area for a bit these coffs cops have a hard on for car shit and let everything else slide, especially non vehicular assaults like what happened to me.
>>
>>16739501
You're a clown. That "warrant" probably constitutes nothing but being wanted for questioning you retard. If you've personally been issued a warrant, avoiding it isn't going to do you any good and is also seen as contempt.
>>
>>16739506
No he said he spesifically flagged my plates/car/licence for hooning and if i got caught officially by HWP i'd be fucked.

Thats literally what he said.

This knob has

>no proof
>did a 180 on me
Fuck sake
>>
>>16739508
... wait, do you even know what a warrant is?
>>
>>16739491
>Good luck with that.
240k km so far. And it only uses 200ml over 10k km service intervals. Sounds better than 4l burnt in 6k km.
>>
>>16739511
Yes mate but he said all this to me in person not in the station but outside it if you get me yeah?

He was warning me
>>
>>16739511
I doubt it.
>>
>>16739513
What's to say the Subaru in question burnt 4L of oil?
>>
>>16739514
... that's not a warrant you fucking clown.
>>
>>16739518
So it just magically evaporated instead?
>>
>>16739521
Fuck sake its midnight and ive been drinking yes mate ok yep gotchya jeez.

ANYWAY despite what its actually called he was warning me unofficially.

I am gonna lay VERY low and take my mums car until this shit blows over in a couple of months while i fix mine up slowly.
>>
Some bad batch getting around in Coffs with all these junkies carrying on.
>>
>>16739531
t. woopi
>>
>>16739518
because its a Subaru
>>
>>16739491
>Doesn't have to burn all its oil out to spin a bearing. it only has to lose a litre or so and it can easily run a bearing dry with a little centrifugal influence.

youre a retard either way, ride a bus if you cant keep up with general maintenance. especially posting on an enthusiast board. this is worse than falcunt shit.

a litre burnt in a 4L sump might not even register on the dipstick, but I doubt it was just a litre, id bet you only had a few mL left. Jesus dude didnt the oil light on your dash make you think "HMMMM somethings not right"
>>
>>16739534
Dont waste your time with him he was dumb enough to buy a new 86 and then rape it into the ground
>>
>>16739534
Once the oil light is on its already too late. Even starter motor cranking gives enough pressure to put it out.
>>
>>16739542
this.

once a engine is oil starved its basically fucked i learnt the hard way.
>>
>>16739541
>implying he bought it

Mummy and Daddy got that for him.

It's an auto too iirc
>>
>>16739522
Are you as dense as the Potato inbred? Or intentionally being obtuse?
>>16739491
>Doesn't have to burn all its oil out to spin a bearing. it only has to lose a litre or so and it can easily run a bearing dry with a little centrifugal influence.

>>16739526
What you got was literally an official warning because nothing else could be pinned against you. All it is, is something to be taken into consideration should you be caught acting in a similar way. For the foreseeable future, behave yourself and don't do anything wrong on the road and you literally have nothing to worry about.
Your vehicle might be flagged, but short of breathalysing and being less lenient with a speeding infringement, there's nothing to be concerned about. Did he mention anything about being summonsed in the near future?
>>
>>16739541
>>16739542
>>16739551
i hope he learnt his lesson
same cunts as him forget to feed pets and then wonder why the pet bird is feet up
>>
>>16739558
>Did he mention anything about being summonsed in the near future?
yep next month
>>
>>16739534
>youre a retard either way
If you're too slow to keep up, I was originally accusing Toyobaru man of being too inept of keeping up with general maintenance.
Exactly what you're saying is my whole point.
>>
>>16739563
Hay we're all here to learn.
>>
New bread

>>16739594
>>
>>16739571
Whelp, keep your nose clean and don't give anything else to be taken into account. I'd bet if you play your cards right they'd have nothing to pin on you, but I'm not convinced you're capable of playing your cards right. If you said anything along the lines of >>16735274 "This guy is a fucking menace and has been doing this for years and i finally fucking snapped and did a uturn and chased him down to a X junction where he pulled up and got out of the passenger seat and without thinking just ran to the nearest post" then you fucked up. If you stayed tight lipped then went on to claim "I followed the vehicle to exchange details, and when the vehicle stopped the passenger acted in an aggressive manner, so I tried to evade him fearing for my wellbeing", they wouldn't have anything against you.
>>16739563
It's an expensive lesson that'll take a while to pay off. I sympathise with Toyobaru person, but it's no good blaming the car or the dealer for the situation not working to his/her favour.
>>
>>16721267
S.F unblock me. i aint taking sides. lets hit up 19 Orlando St.
>>
>>16739604
Well the officer changed his tune only

after he spoke to relatives and friends that gave false whitness testimonials but he might not be aware of that or care

>>16739613
Sorry safer on here man I don't want any /o/ stuff on Facey for both our sakes
>>
>>16739617
Well if you indicated anything along the lines of "i finally fucking snapped and did a uturn and chased him down to a X junction" as you claimed you did on this board, then that puts you in just as big a trouble as the other guy. I don't know what you said on the night so further than that I can't speculate. I'd be saying you followed the car to exchange details, as long as it doesn't conflict with anything you've previously stated to cops.
>>
>>16739480
>Oh fug cops out to git me :DDD
>Need to change plates
> Register vehicle with new plates
>Cops just look for shitbox Calais with new plates

Can't wait till you get fucked by the law
>>
>>16739636
I seriously think he lacks the Delta brain wave.
>>
>>16739636
Nah I'll probably just leave it for a while then fix it for rego
>>16739634
We'll see.

As I said cop changed his tune only after talking to these whitneses that where friends of the family.

Nobody on my side now except my mum and hopefully legal counsel
>>16739650
That's to do with sleep right?
