That idea sounds fuckin stupid mate. You're going to have to pay sales tax every time you re-register the car and you're also going to have to wait several weeks for the new title to come in before you can sign it over again.

I don't even know what you're asking. Why the hell do you want to register it in his name? Why the hell would HE even want that? You bought the car. Title/register it at the DMV and just let him drive it.

As in can you sign it? I mean not "legally" but if the transaction doesn't get a complaint it won't matter cause no one will be inspecting that close

Thats why you don't write a date on the title until you go to the dmv.

I've bought cars and held them for months before registering them, then wrote the date in the day of as if I had just bought it that week.

Or just pay the $20 fee for being over the 10 day period.

This. In some states, Minnesota for example, it's pretty common not to title it until the tabs are due.
