I am considering becoming a mechanic as a career, but they get paid jack shit. To remedy this, I am entertaining the idea of opening my own shop to wrench. How much is too much to charge for each hour of labor?

you are going to be charging whatever your competition charges. try flipping shitboxes first.
i pay mine about 3 50 an hour

Are you charging by official labor hours or hourly? What kind of area do you live in? $50/hr seems pretty fair for working out of your garage.
If you're going to open a real shop with a business front then you would probably need close to $75/hr to cover costs. Just remember it's your ass on the line if you fuck up and you will almost certainly end up fixing shit for free for lying sacks of shit who claim "it wasn't like that before" if you want to expand your customer base.
Get gud insurance
Get gud lawyer relationship
Invest in tooling and equipment
If you're lucky you may start to see a return of investment after a year.
How about being a women's only mechanic whos selling point is to be honest, and not prey on dumb chick ignorance like most mechanics. Pretty much all women drivers I know are paranoid about getting ripped off but never try to educate themselves about cars
Like those insurers who only serve women

$0 the fact that you post on /o/ means everybody should keep their car as far away from you
My shops labor rate is 109/hr.
Before a management position, I was making 50k a year as a master tech. Now 70k as a manager.
