-Inferior aerodynamics slowing you down and causing you to consume more fuel.
-Almost unversally make for worse projectors
-Normally mounted to the forks instead of a bracket that links back to the frame. More weight on forks = bad.

Greetings! Quick question (with intro first):

I've been a cruiser rider for 10 years. I'm 30 yrs old. So now I've switched over to sport bikes. So far, they are GREAT. I love them. However, although my entire body is very comfortable at all times during riding, my wrists are just burning away the entire time, like pinching a nerve in them. I know it's the riding position, BUT:

Is it something I just have to get used to? Like the stiff ass clutch lever on my Harley in traffic? Like I just toughen that part of my body up over time? Or does it just feel that way forever?

Same as doing the brakes.

Probably won't apply to you, but for some reason the bleeder nipple on my magura system didn't seal around the threads so it would pump a little through there instead of all going through the hose. Not a big deal though since it still seals once I close the screw.

Mine was definitely letting some pass through the threads. I ended up fucking the slave cylinder and had to replace it and even the new one did the same thing.

TC's are horrible in that there's nothing iconic about them at all, Shovels left the potatopotatopotato behind, TC's have/had some issues that have been rectified in newer models.. The Evo/TC era is not one of engine bragging for Harley thats for sure.

Twinkies can make insane power but require so much money that you could buy a few superbikes before you're done.

One thing about Twin cams? They're GARAGE FRIENDLY, a simple guy can work on them. That goes a long way in my book.

Twinkies were.. a bridge and nothing more, trying to keep a brand going while engineers kept up. Try to remember Harleys only "performance" engines were in the vrod so you can imagine what they were lacking in the engineering department.

the Milfucky8 is a HUGE step in the right direction but they're trying to combat the "Harley look" crowd who wants an iconic appearance.,,, try doing a full liquid cooled engine and adhering to that...

Harley needs to drop the SOFT-TAIL FRAME completely, it's worthless in the modern world, they need to keep on the FXD and touring frames and they NEED to adapt engines, someday.

In the meantime, simply owning a harley can get you midtier pussy effortlessly so.. it's nice that way.

Well the rumor due to one spokesman at the 16 show was that Harley was moving to a unified frame, something long time coming... I think most engineering competent people want the soft-tail dropped... If you want the look just get a fucking rigid...

I've had nightmares of the Street line of Harleys being merged with the sporty line, it could be coming..

Milfucky8's are a HUGE step in the right direction and the response from the market has been great from what I've seen, with the EVO and twinkies you had pushback from the iconic crowd.. from EVO/Twinkie to Milfucky8 all you have is some guys worried about fins on their jugs and the horn cover showing for "iconic" looks, so we might be ok.

The Vrod though is.. we know what it is, we know what it can do, it's no replacement, it's nothing to Harley... for an anon to defend it and compare it... see attached, that's the level of cognitive dissonance.

I must say on both the hondas my thighs and core would get a little sore because I would use them to keep myself up, while I kept my arms relaxed in order to have full control over the bike. For some reason though on my R6 I am absolutely comfy and I can feel the seat absorbing most of the discomfort that my ass would feel. Basically, most of my weight is actually on my ass instead of legs, core, or arms.

I have heard however that pain in the wrists is very common for new sport bike riders and typically goes away in about a week or two as you adjust

Why isn't there something in between a S1000R and the S1000RR or the MT10 and R1? I want a windscreen and a small fairing for highway use as well as boy racer looks but I don't want the extra cost, insurance and racer ergo of the full on superbike,

People only buy them because they want to buy into the "Hey I'm a tough cunt bikie" look. They usually also buy and open face helmet, leather vest etc and only ride it around town a little on weekends to show everyone how tough they are. As to the bikes themselves, it seems that most jap cruisers are technically better.

A couple little pebbles generally won't hurt you. The really fine sandy type stuff will get you, and it's hard to see. It's really only a problem if there's a pile big enough to completely separate your tire's contact patch from the road and slide under the tire.

come on now. Rule number 1 when wheelieing is ALWAYS be prepared to hit the brake and bring yourself down. Just because you don't think you're going to flip back doesn't matter. You WILL go to far back if you continue to wheelie without making a habit of controlling it with the brake.

no, that's honda right now.

They dumb down their vehicles deliberately to appeal to the lowest common denominator consumer even though they're clearly capable of annihilating if they targeted the more advanced rider.

no shit they literally put a suspension adjustment mode on the new CBR1000RR that lets you just dial in "braking, cornering, accelerating" bar graphs like a video game in case preload, compression and rebound are too hard for you.

And no doubt there are probably people out there buying these bikes retarded enough to use that.

http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/2017-honda-cbr1000rr-sp-first-ride-sportbike-review#page-13

>If you’ve read this far you’ll know that I have mixed feelings about this bike. As a machine, it’s clearly the product of decades of experience, both on track and off, that Honda has used to make the best bike they can. And it’s excellent. Electronically, I have questions. Why not make wheelie control and traction control separately adjustable? Why not make ABS adjustable, or at least have a track mode? Why not use the Bosch IMU, which is already attached to the bike, to inform the bike about pitch (instead of only roll and yaw) and use that data to make wheelie control and rear-lift control state of the art?
What it comes down to is a different opinion of what a superbike should be. I think it should be a track weapon first, and a street bike second. Safety systems are good, but if they hinder a bike like this on a racetrack then that’s a problem. Honda obviously thinks that as a flagship motorcycle it should be a street bike and a track bike in equal measure.
>>
>>16692346
I did hit the rear brake and actually came down pretty hard on my balls and I'm sure it wasn't good for my front forks.
I always have my foot on the brake, I have just never had to actually use it before lol.
Honestly it probably wasn't even a big deal, it just spooked me feeling the bike at the balance point for the first time, i felt like I was gonna fall back

desu you probably weren't even at the balance point yet. It takes a lot of practice to feel it out and you never really know where it is until you go past it or at least ride it out at that point for several seconds and realize you can stay there without accelerating.
>i'm sure it wasn't good for my forks

you were probably not at balance point anyway so chill.

If you want a real sheer heart attack though wait until you start leaning to swap gears mid wheelie, the first times you go from 1st to 2nd about 10% of the time it works perfectly and you roll out a huge wheelie, 60% of the time the front slams down and the remaining 30% of the time the bike shoots up and you've gotta hit the rear brake immediately.

>>16692123
I don't think it's a useless skill at all, it expands your comfort zone on a motorcycle which is always a good thing and even more than that it teaches you the value of deliberate and repeated practice.

When you first try to wheelie you can barely do it and you think there's something wrong with your technique and you need to find the "silver bullet" technique that'll make it all pop into place.

Then you realize it's not anything like that and it's just about getting better at the same fundamentals everyone else is doing, and that doing that same technique but much better and more refined than you're doing it now is the key, you can explain the correct technique to wheelie in 30 seconds flat.

That same attitude is true for all of motorcycling, It's about refining the fundamentals and wheelies can show you that.

When the see the majestic nature of a bike doing a wheeili they aspire to become siik enough to do one in later years.

Basically, you are creating the next generation of wide eyed motorcyclists. Good work buddy.

Building a 250 i4 is just as complicated and costs nearly as much as making a liter or middleweight i4, but you can sell it for as much because smaller number=cheaper. It's just not a viable market, which is a shame because the few 250 4s that have been made are cool as fuck
