Anyone with these hubcaps would be seen as a "tryhard". Trying hard is good, but a tryhard is not. Tryhards are pretenders who use flimflam props.
There is one type of car such hubcaps would look appropriate upon. That would be an "over the top" car that someone was preparing for one of those casual "look at me" car shows. It's expected that cars will try to outdo each other at going over the top at these shows.
