People 40 and older are the majority buying public. These are the people that either bought malaise era hatchbacks or grew up with them so they have biases against hatchbacks. People younger than that tend to look positively on hatchbacks. This is reflected because ever since 2004, when Chevrolet introduced the Aveo, hatchbacks have been booming bigger and bigger in the United States. A number of vehicles with both sedan and hatchback body styles have the hatchback as the better seller.
