Can diesel automobiles ever be exciting?

A friend of mine used to have an E46 330d touring with LSD and a big turbo bolted on.
The car made about 330rwhp, pulled just as hard as an M3
So yeah diesels can be fun

Old mercedes 603 or 606 with a dieselmeken or mynä, throw on a big turbo and you got yourself a real fun diesel.

yes they can. the insane torque amounts even smaller 2.0 or 2.5 diesel produce can make you feel like the car is accelerating really well for the first few seconds the turbo spools. after that it just dies off but the turbo spooling moment is good fun.

Diesel is quite good for smaller cars if you drive long distance quite a lot, giving the engine the chance to operate mostly within its optimal temperaturate and RPM-range
