They pads' sides are painted, but I guess it doesn't matter as no one can see the pads once they are on. It'll get dirty too. Hopefully, the squeaker that sounds when pads are low itself doesn't need adjustment when used with these pads.

They are noisier than OEM brake pads. That seems to be the common opinion since 2001. Has brake pad technology advanced since then with rotor alloys? Yes.

Would a lot of people still buy Endless if not for the blue pad mounts? Probably not. So OP has it correct. When the majority of a consumable auto part is purchased for its looks rather than its performance, then it is potentially a meme product.
