Oh sweet Jesus Christ lol..
How difficult is it to swap a manual T-5 trans into an auto 940? I've never done anything like a manual to auto swap before, so that would be a little out of my comfort zone. Also, when it's done what kind of ECU will it need? Would I have to get one from a manual 940 or 740 and swap that in?
This might be a good place to ask.
I'm looking to buy an 850R wagon.
It looks like it's in good condition, seats are good, claims it all works.
Assuming it checks out how are they? Anything to know about them?
Just gunna be a nice daily until I can afford a new project.

How is any of that irrelevant?
It's all directly relevant.
>>16639937
it's not relevant to your identity, dumbass. you use your trip for fucking everything, even when the post has nothing to do with you personally. go post on a forum if you want everyone to know who you are every time you post, otherwise stop using this already awful board like one.
>>16639945
kys, I can use my trip wherever I want, there is no rule that says I can only trip at certain times or situations.
Also this is a volvo thread and I fuck with volvos on the regular.
>>16639957
>it's ok for me to do something just because it isn't against the rules
That's right it's a volvo thread, so nice job bumping it 3 times defending your right to be a drooling attention-desperate retard.
>>16639965
lol kill yourself weaboo, your car is a piece of shit and you dumped all your money into homosexual stickers instead of actually bettering it, you're shit.
>>16639968
actually i'm just some random anon who cares about not shitting up the board with irrelevant trip usage and off-topic shitposts by ravenous homos with terminal inferiority complexes stirring up weeb-vs-anti-weeb shitshows.
also nice job bumping again. these posts definitely need to be on the front page.

Things will go bad. Electrical especially. But theyre are suprisingly great in the snow. You might suprise a few people, but not from a dig, only a pull on the highway.

Post more vintage Volvo adds. I need more for my garage.
My old brick.
My newer brick.
>>16641563
why would you downgrade?
>>16640764
Which things?
What went bad on yours?
>>16641851
I have both. I meant in terms of their age. I would never give up the 244. But the V70 is an amazing vehicle too. Can't beat the turbo I5 and it's got plenty of creature comforts.
>>16642069
Gotcha, nice. I might be picking up a 244 this weekend. Would be my 7th brick in 5 years. Still have my '90 245 and '91 944 turbo. Just sold a '92 245 a few weeks ago. Time to re-up!

Yeah, I do, a lot
>>16642157
Oh man I love 940s...we had a forest green 945 turbo when I was younger. Man that thing was clean inside and out. It's such a shame we sold it. 940s are getting harder and harder to find.
>>16642866
They're prevalent in the junkyard, which is good and bad for me. Means I can get parts, but that means they'll be gone forever. 940s usually end up as donors for 240s; I pulled a 80k mile '94 B230ft and AW71 to put into my 245 for $300.
Here's my 944. Dropping the front asap and picking up fog light ecodes in a few weeks.
Do 140s and 240s have identical cabins?
>>16642931
She's a pretty girl anon. Also prancing moose FTW.
>>16642945
How do you mean? The late 140s and early 240s had pretty similar interiors and the body style was only slightly updated. And really, Volvo essentially made the same car for 30 years with small updates and improvements every few years.
How good is tje volvo 780 coupe? Is it reliable or are there better bricks out there?
This is my 82 245 Diesel. It's my shitbox and I love it. It's gotta go though.
>>16647138
The car itself holds up pretty well and the bertone design is a sexy brick. Only weak point is the finicky prv v6. But if you have the money to ls swap it or get a redblock in it, go for it.
Saab is better.
>>16647566
Naw, just different. They got them sexy aeroplane aesthetics tho.
>>16647138
Unreliable Peugeot V6 and they have trick self-leveling independent rear suspensions that are expensive to maintain although there are coil-over kits available but they're also $$$$
Should I take it?
This guy wanted to swap a 302 windsor into his sedan yet couldnt finish it.
He's offering to sell both the motor and the car together also.
https://annarbor.craigslist.org/cto/5965311374.html
>>16648758
If you can finish the swap, don't see why not. Volvos and V8's go well together.
That feel when the Volvo progress has halted
>>16647479

>>16649097
LS swap fag.
Seriously, its a Chevy not a Volvo
>>16650366
It's also a ford
>>16650397
Thinking about a winter car, can someone post a good comparison between the 244 and the 744?
Thanks
>>16647138
Great cars to drive, the '89 and 90 models had independent rear suspension and are way better than the 87 and 88. Also later cars came with the 4 cylinder b230FT, which is far more fun than the PRV. The only downside is that they never came manual, but a later model should be reliable, comfortable, and fun.
Pic related: My bricks including my new v8 bertone that I just had shipped from across the country, loving it so far.
Rip volvo. You did your job.
>>16651779
lol wtf that car isnt even on the road
theyre supposed to go on the road
Just bought a '91 740 today.
Power steering is fucky, A/C is out, interior is semi-shit, it's an automatic, and it idles hard. Super fun though.
I want to make it fast. What do I do to it? Can I manual swap it? I love stick.
Comfy car, talked the guy down to $550 so not a bad deal.
My '97 940 LPT.
I tested her snow driving this weekend and took her out drifting on an empty parking lot with other drifters. Was great fun. I had a small speed collision tho and ruined someones front Fender and nummer plate. My bumper was unscathed.. Brick indeed.
>>16650397
Literally what?
Ford bought Volvo 1999 ya dingus
>>16645508
What I mean by that is can you put the front end sheet metal of a 164 on a 265?

Anon, this is a blue board. At least you could spoiler the hardcore porn.
>>16652638
.....
I meant the fact that the wheels and 8.8 are ford
>>16651779
This is what happened to a friend's volvo after he hit some black ice and ran over two streetsigns. The big, thick fuckers that get their own little concrete foundations. He drove it home afterwards, with not even a scratch on him.
>>16652758
>drove that thing home
how? that shit looks deep enough to fuck up at least engine mountings or push other things far enough that in turn push the rest
>>16639894
Random plastic bits will break and fall off. They're easy to work on, lots of information, common, a little aftermarket too, comfy and get okay mpg. They're old cars and as such if all the basics haven't been replaced they will need to be. They're a great car. Very well rounded and have some character.
>>16652767
Very carefully is how. The car got fucked, no doubt. And the engine is a goner. But it started and drove at least the 12 km he had home.
>>16649097
Are those Taurus wheels? Did you need spacers to get them to fit? 10mm?
>>16653000
Crown Vic HPP wheels, fronts needed 5x108 to 5x114.3 adapters, 15mm thick, backs didn't need anything since it has a ford 8.8 in the back.

"Hey anon, can you drive my car tonight?"
So i drove her suzuki instead of my volvo. And now i'll never hold her again
>>16647138
I own one of these and so far Ive been very pleased with the reliability even though it's a special snowflake.
I have an 89, so have have both the redblock 4 cylinder and the nicer-looking muti-x rims. While the reliability of the engine itself is no concern. Volvo crammed every electronic gadget in here they could. This car cost almost 50K in 1989. it's filled with all kinds of wring that is more complex than a 240 or even a basic 740. Also some of the Italian body work isn't exactly as massively built as my 240. Interior door card fitment, more prone to rust, leaky sunroof etc.
They made less than 10,000 of these. if somebody drives into one of the body panels you're not going to find a replacement and your insurance company will probably try to give you 2K to total the car.
