Just got done cleaning out the interior of the EM2 and washing it so now it looks perfect.

I just got a hold of the missing windshield and window moldings for the orange CRX so now I can finally finish it and sell it to someone.

The red one is sitting in a storage locker right now, but I have a really nice 1 piece carbon fiber hood waiting for it. I have a spare GSR shortblock in my garage so thinking about setting it up for like 300 wheel.

Hard to do anything besides go to the gym because it's so cold

By putting too much faith in other drivers and keeping up with traffic, then rinsing the salt if I see any in the wheel wells.

Really though, I don't want to at all. Parents need their cars because we all work in opposite directions nowhere near eachother. I use the van when I can but it's not as often as I'd like. Currently saving for a daily like a panther body because comfy and easy to find then use the rex on weekends.

That's actually an excellent question. Here's way too much information in response:

He said he "never revs it past 4000 RPM because he's afraid that the timing is off" which means the following:

The EW3 makes peak torque at 4,500 rpm of ~93 lb*ft. If we generously give the motor 90 lb*ft of torque @ 4000, he's only making 60 crank horsepower max. Meaning he's seeing about 55 wheel horsepower.

Due to the gearing in the Si transmission, he's seeing these MAX speeds per gear:

1st: 21 mph
2nd: 34 mph
3rd: 51 mph
4th: 72 mph
5th: 85 mph

And his approximate 0-60 is 12.3 seconds with an ideal launch.

TL;DR It's probably extremely dangerous on the road because of the low amount of power and him shifting short. The 0-60 is calculated with him absolutely flooring it and revving it out, so realistically he probably shouldn't be doing any on-ramps.

Also, as someone that owns two of that same car, let me just say that the safety features aren't generous.
>>
>>16637027
Granted it still made its rated power figures. Probably makes 3/4 or less of that power.

I think vatozone uses rain x. Don't get those they're too thick and put too much pressure on the windshield making it loud. I have OEM Kia ones since my bro gets them dirt cheap from his work

One of the techs at my work was cleaning an EG sedan since he said he was going to sell it that night. I barely noticed it since it was stock and I probably wouldn't see it again. All I remembered was it was manual. I bought the same car as my first car a month later

Also I use grandpa's recepies. First of all the coat of paint under the car I use black primer mixed with 1/3 C-200 glue. It's a really sticky mix very hard to chip or scratch besides it's somewhat hydrophobic. For inside the structural beams and the small crevices I always keep around some of the used engine oil. I spray it inside the structural beams with a pulverizer when you drive around the oil mixes with sand and dirt and becomes a hydrophopic gunk with keeps most of the water away from the small crevices which are first to rust.
>>

Jesus Christ just get yourself some anti-rust paint off Autozone or something.
>>
>>16637269
You see that's the problem I have with modern cars and modern way of thinking about cars. Both are recyclable in words only. It's "oh that's broken, we'll get a new one" instead of "oh that's broken, I'll try to mend it first and then if it doesn't work I'll buy a new one". Why not utilize what you already have, why not think of a way to do something instead of just mindlessly consuming what's on the market?

nah, I don't think so. the car in the video is the only k23a1 swap I've ever seen/heard of. I wonder where the car is now and why the shop in the video didn't blow this up. My guess is that it's probably just easier or more cost effective to swap in a k20 + turbo, instead of working with the k23. the car sounds dank tho

>>16637513
If you add up the shit from ebay + the arm rest, it's about 350 dollars. My gsr shortblock was 350 dollars. I got a pair of NSX seats for 350 dollars, you can get an s2000 cluster for under 300, for like another hundred you can get a transmission.

It doesn't make any sense to me. I got that same arm rest from a junkyard for 10 dollars, bought some vinyl that looks like leather and my gf make a new cover for it. Probably cost like 30 dollars total

I'm not your daddy but you could do a lot more with your car if you didn't spend your money on JDM fresh accessories. It's literally an overpriced cupholder
>>
>>16631805
That Civic Hatch video is one of the best things I've ever seen on the internet.
>>
>>16637464
I'm still considering just reshelling the car at some point. The rear quarters are both dented to hell and pliers were used to roll them by a previous owner. Also has some hidden body damage underneath the plastic in the hatch area on the driver side. A thread was stripped for the upper control arm mount so they cut a hole on the other side inside the car and put a nut on it. It's crazy.

I drive it every single day too so getting body work done would screw me for a bit since it's my only car. As far as power goes, it's more than enough for my pizza slinging. Very fuel efficient too. Tons of life left in it along with the one year old trans.

That arm rest would most likely be the last thing I pick up as far as stuff like that goes. I get quite a bit of disposable income every month anyway so it's not the end of it for me.

not shingu, but I always raise an eyebrow when people insist that others spend (or save) money the way they do, assuming that everyone is after the same thing in life or lives under the exact same circumstances. if Shingu pays too much money for a cupholder that he likes, that affects your situation how? We all want the best for him, but sometimes you just need to let him make his own mistakes - he'll be fine, alright

also, s2k cluster swap sounds breddy sweet
>>
>>16637722

Letting people do whatever the fuck they want without saying anything is why we have women running around with hairy arm pits and people with face tattoos. This attitude of "be you homie" is cancerous.

I'm all for freedom of choice, but when it comes to doing stupid shit that is detrimental, it's important to say something.

My cluster swap was a grand total of 230 bucks. I had to do a small repair but it's pretty cheap to do if you know what you're doing.

Reshelling is worth it if you buy out of a rust free state with plentiful of said car.

I still have quite a bit of cash left after dropping quite a bit on Integra parts, but I guess saving for nine months was worth it. That and I had nothing to buy in that time frame besides PC and Integra parts.

I'm going to miss the '90, but it won't be in a junkyard. I'd be willing to cut all the bad panels off of it if I had the skills and experience to do that.

It does it naturally so i try to get it throttle shifted at before or after 4600rpm. My 0-60 isnt bad though but there are questionable things in my car that im still not sure of.

is perfect advice.

I'll also agree that it makes sense because shingu falls inside your circle of influence - seeing someone you know creating their own barriers to success is a circumstance where there's an obligation to say something

That being said, "be you homie" isn't an attitude I'm trying to endorse. People outside my circle of influence are going to do retarded shit I don't agree with and that is the part I accept. Right now, somewhere in the world, im sure some hairy pitted womyn is overnighting clear corners for her eg, but it doesn't bother me because I can't control it.

Finally got around to cleaning the overspray off the windshield, 124 hours, 3 /hg/ threads, and 46 hours of working after initially painting the hood, and consequentially, the windshield.

It was a bitch. Lots of elbow grease and a paint-thinner-drenched rag. Also, learn from my mistakes and wear gloves when using paint thinner. My hands are kinda tingling.

Guys I bought a 2015 Civic coupe LX and was wondering what your thoughts are. The CVT isn't fun but at least I'm getting good gas. Overall I really really regret buying this car and wish I had done more research. Can anyone please tell me the benefits of having this car so I don't feel so bad?

In all seriousness, it's a beautiful car and the interior is great, but I just couldn't live with the driving experience of a CVT and the LX trim lacks some features that might otherwise make it slightly more tolerable.

Yeah I love the styling of the 9th gen coupe. Probably my favorite post 6th gen coupe. I'd get an old manual weekend car to go with it. Best of both worlds.

Buddy's coupe is coming along great. He had to scrap the idea of building up that red coupe. The rust was extremely bad on it. He's gonna fix his original car up instead and do some VIN shit with it. He never plans on selling it anyway. Too much time and effort put into it. kek

I'll be financing a new-ish car within the next few months to use as a daily/grocery getter that'll eat the miles to work, around town and back so the CRX can be for weekends.

>Option 1: Honda CR-Z
>possibly an interesting daily
>no infotainment nonsense
>six speed manual

>might grow too attached to it and feel bad to part with it
>hybrid system maintenance might suck

>Option 2: Nissan Leaf SL
>depreciation has fucked resale so it's dirt cheap
>five seater space
>minimal maintenance
>so irredeemable I almost don't have to care about it

>EV might just be a meme
>battery replacement could be pricey

I'm leaning towards the Leaf because it's more logical. If I do get it I might do some goofy shit like add an Impul body kit for giggles.
>>
>>16644811

>>
>>16644811
It may just have been his car but my buddy with the supercharged CR-Z had some battery issues when it got real cold here in Louisiana. Not sure if that's a problem with all the cars in general, though.

>>16644824
I agree. If you're interested in a hybrid though I'd get a Honda Insight. They're way better hybrids than the CR-Z ever was.
>>
>>16644824
>>16644835
It's less about the powertrain than it is about how much I don't have to care about it, as faggy as that sounds. I want a new-ish, reliable mile eater that I won't get attached to. Kinda why I picked an EV shitbox. I'd love to own a first gen Insight but I'd probably want to save it from racking up miles just like the CRX.
>>
>>16644889
I'll be honest I'd probably get the CR-Z. It's been a great daily for my friend while he works on a Foxbody as his project car.

I'll probably take some test drives tomorrow to see how they stack up. I did really like the CR-Z I test drove last year. The only two complaints I had were the way the hood curves, making it hard to see where the nose is, and the god awful blindspots from the fat pillars in back.

Hey /hg/, looking to join the collage. But first, I need a Honda. Everything past this point might sound retarded as fuck as I don't have much Honda/FWD knowledge.

I mainly want some fun with a decent but not amazing fuel economy and reliability, while still having the options to add to/wrench on the car in a way that isn't ricer (Won't change the stock wheels, seats, or even lower it, at most it'll just be a different steering wheel if necessary).
I was really interested in the '91 Preludes, but I'm not sure what you're actually able to do with them in terms of performance and how fun they are out of the box.

Also out of curiosity, how easily are K20 engines swapped into other (read: older) Honda? The Type R engines seem like they'd be a ton of fun, and don't seem to cost that much overall compared to how cheap you can get the cars for.

I'd just get an S2K, but I like my creature comforts and comfort.

As petty and hypocritical as it is, I'm not fond the EP3's looks at all, both inside and out and just couldn't picture myself driving one, sadly it's about the only Honda I wouldn't consider.

I'm most taken with the Third gen prelude, Fifth gen Civic and the DC2 Integra.
>>

I'm in Australia and the C5 is an USDM engine. So I suppose I should find a B18C7? It seems like the same shit except it has earlier VTEC engagement (5700 rpm > 6100 rpm) and a marginally higher redline.

Ultimately I could just import a Type R from Japan, but importing kind of scares the absolute shit out of me.
