>>

Cunt why not just part it out and put it in the trash cause its a shitbox
>>
>>16628894
how do you blow reverse gear?

if its manual, just put it in reverse and then start the car
>>
>>16628907
Clutch fucked too?
>>
>>16628907
Didnt.

First day it was in mechanic told me reverse syncro was destroyed.

So i did some research and it turns out its a common issue with the stock shifter (Long throw) not engaging fully POSSIBLY but its only $200 for a good short shifter vs a whole new box/recond so ill start with that.
>>16628911
Brand new clutch but reused flywheel
>>
>>16628913
does it grind when trying to put it in gear? you should be able to slot it in reverse with the car off, start the car (with the clutch pedal depressed obviously) and reverse as per normal.

If you cant put it in reverse when the car is off (you might have to rock the car back & forth) then investigate shifter.

i assume you've done all of this already but just in case
>>
>>16628922
Yeah me and the mechanic tried everything EXCEPT the shifter level itself (didnt have a short shifter because didnt think i'd need one)

Yeah it goes into reverse when the cars off (begrudgingly) it feels like a linkage issue or something because when the car is started it wont engage reverse (clutch on) fully and when i looked online apparently its easier to just pull the box out and redo it if a short shifter doesnt help engagement
>>
>>16628913
so you bought this box without a thought of checking the condition of it first?
God you're a fucking idiot.

Whats the point of getting an LSD such a KAAZ or other clutch type LSDs when you can just get a spool or weld the diff?
Even for a daily, wouldn't an LSD that locks up be the same as a welded diff?
>>
>>16629291
depends on what you want to do, i guess.
>>
>>16629291
Wouldn't having a locked diff cause axle twisting and tyre skipping ?

Parking and tight turnaround circles would suck a cock and chew through tyres
>>16629294
He should just get a recond lsd
>>
>>16629294
>>16629295
Want to drift. Would a clutch type LSD chew through tyres and cause stress on the axles like a welded diff or not?

Wouldn't get a reconditioned diff because they go open after you skid them too much.
>>
>>16629328
If you want to drift, why are you worrying about hurting your car?
>>
>>16629343
Because it's my only car and it's my daily. I don't want to hurt the car if I don't have to.
>>

Then don't drift it.

You're gonna bin it into a wall sooner or later so but a track only beater and learn in that.

>>16629368
I want to learn how to drift on the track first anyway so I'm hoping I'll get good enough where I won't wrap the car around a pole.

I'll definitely get a track car one day but I don't have the funds atm for a trailer, car etc.

>>
>>16629377
my daily car is a cheap commo haha. It's clean but it's pretty easy to get the back end out. With this open diff it's pretty scary and unpredictable though. I was thinking a trutrack but they aren't good for drifting is what I've read.

>>16629440

V6 doesn't have much torque for skids.

That said put a mini spool and 4.11 in it and eventually LS swap

it's manual, I plan to do rockers cos they're cheap and will apparently net me an extra 20-25kw at the fly.
For gears I was gonna go 3.9 as it's only a 5 speed. So you reckon a spool over a proper LSD?
>>

A KAAZ or equivalent 2-way is better than a locker as it dampens the shock loads on half shafts which means you won't snap them nearly as quickly.
It also means that in carparks and such you won't be chirping wheels unless its stupidly tight.

Well worth the money if you have it.

gday,

im a p plater who has been saving for years to be able to drive an import/turbo car. i decided on a GTiR, finding a nice one is hard enough. insurance is fucking impossible. ive called up RACT who said no for under 25s with turbo, AAMI wanted 18k A YEAR with a 4k excess and valued the car at 5000. then they wanted 5 grand for third party insurance. RACT implied they wouldnt insure me for 3rd party also

i dont understand how i see so many p platers driving imports and turbo cars. now that just car is shut down i feel there really isnt an option but to wait until im 25, good cond GTiRs are hard to find now, imagine in 7-8 years time.

i find it a bit hypocritial where they have no problem me driving a 2017 commodore which makes more power than most 90s jap cars but imports that make less power are considered 'high peformance'

any advice on insurers would be extremley helpful

As someone whose lives and worked in Bello for years, with multiple employers, you're fucking full of shit. I know some seriously dozza cunts with not a single bit of training for certification to their name, not even tafe or high school, and they still found work in Bello.
Because they don't want to be neet trash, has it escaped your attention that they're building A FUCKING HIGHWAY around here?
There's work planting potatoes on the sides of this highway, there's work pruning the fruit trees (a job I got with ZERO experience in whoreticulture, which it sounds like you have).
There's work in one of the many brothels around town washing dishes. In fact if you weren't such I liar I might have considered hooking you up with that.
There's work for The Pepe Army doing rejuvenation along the beaches.
There's work for the council upgrading the pathways along the beaches.

You need to actual fuck off with this woe is me shit, claiming it's the fault of 4chan for not having work for you. As a local of Bellingen (not Coffs where you're actually from 40km north) I'm fucking sick and tired of every time I come to this thread to enjoy a bit of comfy, you're here trying to garner sympathy like a child with you bullshit stories of woe.
One drive through Bello and you'll see at lease half a dozen greenhouses just from the highway. If you wanted work you'd have gone to each one of those with a resume and not given up until you had work.
But apparently you've done that, which begs the question, why haven't they offered you employment?
Either you present yourself like a scumbag or otherwise sabotage yourself so that you can look in the mirror and lie, telling yourself that you did your best. Or you are somehow alienating every single potential employer you've met in the area.
Id bet on the former.

Seriously mate, go fucking sort your life out, or do me a favour and stop associating yourself with my home town you absolute fucking garbage human.

If there's one tip I would give is don't actively look for things to bet on. Bet on sports you know about or have a good tip from someone who does. It's the reason I lost the money I made in betting (Started with $10, no big deal). It's the same for me in poker, I get impatient, despite being able to shit on other people when I play properly.
>>
>>16635439
To give you an idea of what not to do, don't bet o U18 international soccer qualifiers between Turkey and Paraguay. That's the sort of shit I'd bet on when I was getting impatient with the bets I'd make money on, where only a few games would be played a week worth betting on.

>>
>>16635467
Oh sick dude. You knew a guy from Holden? He could just take an engine off the production line and leave it for you to chuck in? Get fucked, your mate damo at the service centre doesn't know shit.

LSA wouldn't fit in a VX because of cooling and the tranny tunnel. Not to mention you'd need to upgrade everything else to withstand it, e.g. brakes.

Don't be a dumb cunt and quit living a fairytale.
>>
>>16635501
WRX STI isn't great value at the current moment. I'd wait til something new comes. The WRX is great value, but the current-gen STI doesn't justify it's price tag through features.

If you can afford it and the spinal surgery you'll need before you sell it a couple months before the warranty expires (don't keep this car past the warranty), the Focus RS would be a good option. It's a head-turner and you can get I think 70/30 RWD bias, because AWD can get boring real quick.

The Golf R is a cheaper option that is more refined but I feel like it'd bore the shit out of you.
>>
>>16635642
and by refined I don't mean it in the poofter car reviewer sense, I mean it in that the suspension won't fuck you over big time when you drive on Moggill Rd.

Have done so

Can be hit and miss depending on what you get. Generally you will come out a little cheaper than you would buying locally. But optimally you either want to take a look at it in person or get a broker to look at it for you. I used Iron Chef Imports.

There are also other oddities as well that were Japanese market only, if the car is old enough it doesn't really matter but you might get picked up on it with a post-1989 car. Stuff like centre high mount brake lamps on the rear weren't standard there, a lot of cars there seem to have funny "press button" seat belt releases rather than the push down from the top things that are ADR approved, shit like that.

GENERALLY the cars are treated better there but you can come across some dodgy ones.

Here in Aus you can get 30 days in gaol (you heard me) for driving without a license.

I imagine if you got caught 5 times here you'd be in for a world of fucking hurt.
>>
>>16644565

>suspended until January 5th, 2023.

Oh wow.
>>
>>16644589
I got caught 7 times.

At least it doesn't take just 2 speeding tickets to suspend it.
>>
>>16644560

Fuck man that's heavy.

Under Australian law if you exceed 12 points you can elect to go on a good behavior period. During that period if you get 2 or more demerit points you'll lose your license for double the original suspension period. In case the original period was 4 months.

I was considering driving but just taking it easy as not to draw attention. But I was told that the cops will scan your number plates and if the computer alerts them to the fact that the owner of that vehicle has a suspended license they will most likely come after you to check if you're the driver.

If I go to jail, I lose my job, can't pay for my finance therefore my car will be repossessed.

P plater here.
Convince me not to buy an FC and buy a Civic instead.
>>
>>16644964
Buy the FC.
>>
>>16644964
Do you want a fuel efficient, reliable and non-cop bait car?
>>
>>16644964
Just follow your dreams, bro. As long as you're willing to learn how to take care of it and keep it running, I say go for it.

If you're just after how it looks get an EXA instead. Significantly easier to maintain while having that classic wedge feat. popups look.
>>
>>16644565
Are you that freedom fiu cunt
>>16644653
Probably financed his car with iq points
>>
>>16644715
Even if it weren't illegal I'd feel inclined to slash your tyres for the safety of everyone around you.
>>
>>16644715
I don't get it, what is it?
>>
>>16644964

Buy both.

You'll need the Civic to fetch parts for the FC.
>>
>>16645080
You must be fun at parties.

>>16645083
Some done-up Evo in the States with expensive aftermarket projector headlights.
>>

What is the fuel economy like with a rotary?
say 12a, 13b and 13bt?
I hear talk of people getting shit milage however online ive also seen discussion where people say they get 300-400km from 45L.
I know thats pretty crappy but I could live with that in a worked car.
>>
>>16645353
Depends what's done to it, depends what car it's in, depends how you drive it, depends what your commute is.

Friend's dad used to get 120km out of a full tank. But that was a peri port 13b n/a screamer.

Whereas a stock 13b driven normally will do a lot better.
>>
>>16645383
i was thinking if i were to get a rotary i'd keep stock ports, if turbo FMIC, up the boost (rebuild with various oil and water seals to accomodate that).
probably to be used a few days a week commuting to work and as weekend car.
>>
>>16645412
What series? FC?

Newer turbo makes a big difference too. Something small but efficient, as the stock turbos on FCs are not very good.

That and heat management is your biggest friend.
>>
is it worth converting your NA car to a turbo for the experience of building something from the ground up or just buy the turbo version? I would like to build up a car to be fast.
>>
>>16645542
no
>>
>>16645543
Thanks for the in-depth answer dude.
>>
>>16645546
I could go into detail but I won't. Just buy the turbo version.
>>
>>16645556
Should I upgrade things I can swap into the turbo version later on?
>>
>>16645560
Sure. But if you buy a turbo version it may already have those things done

What car?
>>
>>16645568
Mazda 3. I have the SP25 but I would eventually like to buy a MPS and make it into a quick daily. SP25 is quick enough but I just want to hear turbo noises.

>>

Just buy an MPS man, or if you want a project engine swap a cheap older 323 with a BPT.
>>

Should I just turn gay?
>>
>>16645583
Yea might have to, My car has very low kms how old it is so i'll probably keep it for a few more years then swap it for a gen 1 or 2 MPS, unless they release a gen 3 MPS thats AWD.
>>
what do aus peeps think of the DC5 integra type S 2005 model. I know one for 8 Gs....
>>
>>16645588
Yea you're probably better off desu, At least go fuck a tranny so you can feel titties.
>>
>>16645592
What's the catch?

They're pretty good cars. Fun but entirely livable as a daily driver. Insurance might fuck you in the bum though.
