Not as many as I would like, desu. The accident happened 14 hours before my 14 hour flight which meant 1. I could only get the piccs when it was dark and 2. I was not in the mood to document anything.

I didn't even get piccs of the '01 Mazda Protege but the front end was completely fucking wrecked with bits of tubes lying on the streets and the backend somehow hit my rear bumper which also cause the back end to be fucked up.

Anyway, yeah. Taynger's a champ since she's been in at least two other collisions before that. Rear end and passenger door replacement. The winch bumper actually came in like two days before I got into the accident which means that if I had the stock bumper on (see in the pic >>16605967 on the right side for comparison), the frame would've been completely destroyed and called a write off. Except this one just had the front frame moved in a bit which they bent back with the press and then reinforced it.

Bluebook would've paid me $14000 for 7 year old Taynger and I could've bought another one for that money. But instead, she had to be resilient as fuck.

There was an anon who called me stupid and respectable quoting (and I paraphrase): "Shitbox maintenance is a long forgotten art". I suppose that makes me feel a bit better.

I just drove 600km today in my Taynger and had to climb up a frozen hill to get to the dropoff point for this farmer. It is very bearable as a DD, good for offroading, and otay for towing if you have a dolly.
An old friend of mine (we don't talk anymore. normies literally get out) used his 2004 4.0 V6 Ranger to tow his Honda Accord 4000km to British Colombia.
I could do the same with a Jeep despite it looking dinky. 600lb dolly with a 3500lb TJ would mean it is 1800lbs under the maximum towing rating for the Ranger.

We had a conversation a few /ORG/s back with two exploderfags asking that same question. I think they had mentioned the newer V8s (and subsequent V6s because they used the same 4.0 ShitOHCs as the Rangers) were not worth the money. Plus the 5.0L was pretty bad on fuel for a light / medium trucc.

Similar, yes. But they also had a much weirder design and more options since they weren't being fleeted out my Ford to contracting companies by the 10 000s. As a result, a few of them are similar to the Ranger / B-series models whilst others are more like the international ranger or their own design entirely.

May I ask why? The reason is when I as getting rid of my 2010 Colorado (in search for a 4x4 as I kept getting stuck on jobs), the first thing I thought of was to lease or finance the newer Colorado. But everything I found gave it horrible specs and since it's a newer model, I was greatly worried about reliability.

The turbo diesel was a great idea for a midsized truck again but it was severely underpowered. The upper range V6 was alright but I think suffered from torque output. Plus the easily dentable (and more expensive and lower) valance made it less appealing than the other models, like tacos.

I had found very little to suggest it should be bought as an offroader. Though, I didn't look as hard or ask enough people because I was just kinda turned off by the price of an off-road, work beater.

Hey bros. Back with another question. Carpet or no carpet? On one end, I'm hyped because less road noise and more insulation. Currently when driving the jeep for more than an hour your head drowns out the sound it's so loud, and you can start to talk to your co-driver after that hour. On the other hand, I don't want the carpeting to become a hassle every time I go out on the trail I don't want to come home and clean the carpet or vacuum it. So what do you guys do to clean your carpets in your normal DD's? I always have simply vacuumed, nothing more, and would you spend $200-$300 for a carpet kit? As of now i'm on the fence leaning towards yes on carpet.

I've got 3 layers of kevlar cloth over my tranny tunnel, and a bit of carpet over that, but my floor beyond that is bare. Takes care of noise pretty well, keeps me from burning my feets, and still drains well. Next upgrade is spray liner and maybe an arb air locker.

The price, mods, engine heads, maybe radiator, A/C, transfer case. Any XJ with working everything ^^ should not cost more than $3000 for one over 200k on the odo. If you're doing rugged offroading, you might want to get a pre-lifted, winched, bumpered, etc by waiting the extra 3-6 months and paying the extra $2000-$4000. That would save you money in the end, too.

I didn't install it actually. The previous owner hated the heat coming off the auto transmission with no carpet. He had previously worked in the stock car world so he had some of the cloth he used in the industry and put it on the trans tunnel. it reflects the heat pretty damn well. Also, please god no grenading the trans.

OHV is more reliable simply because of the usage and adaptability over time (plus older, more reliable parts). The 2008 and older models don't have the head issues like the younger ones plus they're commanding like $12k for a post 2009 Colorado / Ranger / Canyon / Taco.

When I was at the local drag strip up north, someone apparently had a lowered SOHC they bought cheaply from 2004 or so. When overreving in second, it apparently popped a head right out and dented the hood cover then sprayed hot engine oil / fuel everywhere inside the engine bay making that a big, smoking writeoff.

Anyone know of a hiding place for an amplifier in an extended cab f150 I know the guy had one installed. I know The power and speaker wire is still (see it go under the carpet) the but would rather not pull up the whole carpet to find the ends .....

I just got my rear diff rebuilt and we were looking at upgrade options. He literally said I didn't need anything because Ford built the rear diff to be pretty damn steady.

In any regard, I don't see you needing to mess around with the pinions if you're just doing a gear replacement. But I also have no idea what a truetrac upgrade requires with your specific upgrade.

Unfortunately, we have neither the Land Cruiser or the Nissan Patrol here. This proliferates the Jeep as king of offroading in North America. I can add that the GX itself (LC bod) is probably the most reliable "luxury" SUV we have and already a very capable offroader before modifications. The Tay Yoda makes things easier to wrench on and a bit more reliable compared to the others around here

I've owned both a 5.0 explorer and a 4.0 overhead cam ranger, mpg wise the explorer was 1 mpg worse than the 4.0.
The 5.0 felt much nice to tow with has more torque, and the v8 sounds nice. with that said both can tow, but do not use these for serious towing get a full size truck.

the explorer can town 6700 if its 2wd 4wd is 6400, but you have to watch the Tongue wight it's capacity is pretty low.

both trucks feel extremely similar keep in mild this was a 2000 ranger and a 98 expolder. A ton of parts also interchangeable. really solid little trucks. my 4.0 started rattling really loud and then shit the bed.

the newer pajeros definately check out all three. With ifs/irs, optional 2wd and full time rear wheel biased 4wd and an integrated frame they are more than bearable on road as a daily driver, although they might require a bit of additional sound proofing and the diesel inline fours are a bit agricultural.
The pajero has proven itself to be very offroad capable and the integrated frame is extremely sturdy. However departure angle is quite shit and ifs has very little wheel travel.
The 3.2 turbodiesel with 200hp and 441Nm of torque can tow 3 tonnes without much effort. I think max towing is 3500 kilograms or more.

How bad are bajas for babbys first offfroading vehical? Wanna hit up some shit in az so lawlnomud but washes and dry riverbeds to climb out of.

This set up >>16616876 is a fold up. It's a $2000 camper shell that uses hydralics to lift it up for camping porpoises as whale. You can't drive with it up. The inside is just a camping tent meant to retain heat so it's not that bad.

I saw a slightly door rusted late 90s FJ80 on the road the other day with a bit of mud on the fenders. When I pulled up to the driver, it was some 40-50 year old fat black woman piloting it. She doesn't know what she has... Sad!

She probably bought it back in the 90s and has lasted her very well until now. You could probably buy that off her for a few grand and she'd happily take it.

Yes, mainly 22re's and some 3.0 v6's. The v6 is trash.. the 22re is probably one of the most reliable in history but extremely under powered if you're looking to haul a bunch of overlanding gear. Easy as could be to swap out though, most people either go with a 4.3 or 350 Chevy, or the later 3.4 Toyota v6
