I fucking hate myself, look what I did. I never did much work on my bikes besides changing fluids, so when I got installed my new clutch kit I was so happy and then I crack the fucking case cover while bolting it on. I'm really mad at myself, please insult and belittle me.

that's a pretty good price but not unheard of. I think those people saying it is a scam are overreacting. Run the VIN to make sure its not hot and then enjoy your bike. Even if it is about to blow up you can take that extra money you saved vs buying a new bike and rebuild it.

>>
>>16605647
Don't feel bad, that's an easy fix. Snap a timing gear tool off in the center of your engine while you change valve shims and see how you feel abou dat.
>>
>>16605912
speaking of fuckups
>trying to feed cam chain out of my engine
>come up with plan to use a chain of zip ties from the end of the timing chain to keep tension on it as i feed it through
>it snaps off inside the engine
>at least one zip tie is stuck inside there, maybe more
>haven't gotten it out yet
I should have just pulled the flywheel and took off the chain the normal way, or at least used safety wire instead of zip ties.

Ive noticed some shaking at speed, here in northern NV the highways are 75.
Ibe read that some good progressive springs in the front will fix that.

I kind of thought about doing a kinda sorta scrambler thing with it, more travel in the rear but the aftermarket isnt very big.

Yea? Seems more and more aftermarket is popping up for um luckily. The chief is pretty good at highway speeds. But that's what she's built for. I have no doubt the scout is better at around town rides.
Have you seen the new color scheme for the scouts? It's sexual.

You topped her out yet?
>>
>>16606192
The fastest ive gone is about 110, im gonna ask my dealer if theyll let buy or trade in my fenders and tank in for the new color, the red over black with the war bonnet is pure sex.

>>16606199
Yeeee. She feel good at that speed? I got the chief up around 120ish and it felt like a Lincoln Town car. She had more to give. I wanna say top on the chief is 140 or so.

I'm a fan of the white one with blue trim and red pinstripes. Uhhhggg
Im afraid to go look at um in person because I might buy one

>>
>>16606216
Yeah id like to trade up to the scout with the paint I like but if there isnt an option to turn off the ABS I cant turn it into anything for offroad.

Its starts getting pretty shakey, nothing terrible but its not great. Even the scout sixty pulls like a freight train when you get the revs up to 4-5000, id like to try the scout with a tuner and an aftermarket exhaust.

Worse case i say give it a bit and see what new innovations indian comes out with before trading up. I'm hoping for a fixed fairing. Maybe even a sportbike style to fuck around with.

no that's literally 100% correct, nothing warms up a tyre more than speed and braking, what puts heat in a tyre for the most part is that it flexes and braking does that in spades.

little swerves do nothing and approach no lean angle so you're not putting any heat into the side of the tyre either.

I assumed I was slow as fuck riding with Wombat, then I rode with a few local guys and blew them away. I was feeling pretty confident until I rode with a guy and his brother and they both were much much faster than me, even on "worse" bikes [XR600R and CR250R]. Then I was faster than pretty much everyone in my group at the local ADV ride. I would consider myself competent+ on dirt, I'm faster than the average joe but slower than most guys who actually care about riding. I've been trying to improve my technical skills on the dirt bikes but not a whole lot of that transfers to a bike that weighs almost twice as much

I have a shitty old Ozark Trail tent [Wal-Mart brand]. It's pretty solid but has one small leak on a window seam. I want to replace it but fuck the cost of a properly small packing tent.

>>

>typicalscooterrider.png

Fixed.

If you're in the US and lane splitting is disallowed, and city traffic reaches speeds in excess of 50mph, then riding a scooter is the dumbest thing ever. They make sense in crowded metros and backwater villages where speeds rarely exeed 30 KM h, cars are too expensive or taxed to shit and impossible to park, and cyclists are allowed to do actual cycling things, and nowhere else. There and nowhere else, the average person who would suck shit at riding a motorcycle has a reason to be on two wheels, and that's what scooters are for. They are a niche product among bikes.

There is everything wrong with riding a scooter if you are american.

Weeeell... sorta? Regarding size/weight I think it feels on par with most middle weight nakeds. Wait until you hop on a dualsport, they're retarded tall. The only thing that used to annoy me is that the footpegs are way towards the back, but then I got used to it.

It's not a 10/10 bike but the engine has a nice pull, the suspension is rather decently balanced, the brakes are great, and it's fairly comfortable. If it had a 2 piece seat and adjustable front suspension oh boy I would go insane on it. For general use it feels exceedingly decent. Also for a ptwin I don't think it sounds that bad... Anyhow I don't think you can fully evaluate those things doing riding school type of riding 2bh.

I still have it because a) I was an absolute poorfag (which should change this year when I get to work full time as an engineer) and b) there are no twisties in northeast Germany so there's no opportunity to git gut unless you do track days (problematic for poorfags) or travel to mountains (takes time and monies).
Plus I love my little Honda, and Schaaf seems to be doing pretty well with his too. As long as I'm not close to his ability, there's little point in upgrading.

Hey /dbt/, I have a question. I've recently gotten a new bike (K3 SV1000s) and I've been reading up on it. Apparently the flywheel magnets on these bikes have a bad habit of coming loose and getting ground to a pulp inside the engine. Now, I'm not very mechanically inclined but I'd like to prevent this from happening... Couldn't I just pull the flywheel off and then slap some epoxy on all the magnets to keep this from ever happening?

So should I go to the nearest Suzuki dealer? And tell them what exactly? How long would it take? Don't wanna wait a month to have my bike back for something trivial.
>>
>>16607033
way more thefts too due to areas that have them
>>
>>16607693
call them with your vin and ask if the recall work is available from them, schedule it an drop it off when they have the parts on hand so you only have to leave it a day or so.
it might be a short enough fix that you can just wait around
>>
>>16607716
Considering the guy was talking about a 1000 which isn't in production anymore I assumed this whole recall thing applies to old 650 as well (mine is from '04), am I correct?
>>
hello dbt i am trying to understand the physics behind hanging off your motorcycle while turning

from what i understand, hanging off your motorcycle allows you to basically apply more lateral force to the bike while also maintaining a more upright position. essentially you're pulling the bike down as hard as you can while fighting the gyroscopic effects of it going fast and hanging off is the most effective way to do this

am i right?

Are cruisers literally made for fat people?

>>
>>16607815
yes but not so much the gyroscopic effect as the inertia in corners. you lean and hang off to shift the CG to a point that you can overcome the bikes inertia in a straight line and pull it around the corner
>>
>>16607815
Ye... I think
Riding a bike is really more about /feel/
You hang out to avoid running out of rubber, to have better acceleration and to prevent the bike from sliding out
>>
>>16607815
Shift center of mass towards center of the corner and towards the ground, therefore increasing the force that makes the bike go around the corner. That means you'll either
a) go around the corner faster while maintaining lean angle (this is good),
b) decrease lean angle while maintaining speed around the corner (which means better grip and earlier acceleration, which is good).

And yes, you described what happens pretty nicely even though it might sound a little off at first -- after all, when you're sitting on the bike it _seems_ like hanging off actually DECREASES the lateral forces that pull you towards the outside. That is an illusion created by the fact that when you're traveling on the bike, your frame of reference is moving with it.
>>
>>16607824
Yes, fat gay people.
>>
>>16605685
How do you like the street triple? Would you recommend it to someone who rides 90 miles a day at ~70 mph on backroads? I'm looking for something that is more capable than my last bike (klx250sf).
>>
>>16607854
Thanks I actually didn't consider the first point but that makes sense. Kinda like using your weight to slingshot it

Which VFR is best VFR?

Ruling out the 2002-2013 VTECs is easy, so it's a toss up between the post-2014 800F (i.e. just go for the 2016 with the sexy black frame), or one of the pre-VTECs with the gear-driven cams everyone wanks off over. Probably the 800Fi for not having to fartarse around with carbs, but those have the radiators stuck on the sides making the thing extra-wide, not great for filtering.

So my bike has been sitting for like a month without running, should i put the batyery back in it and some fuel stabilizer in the tank and run it to get the stabilizer through the carb then pull the battery again? Or does it not really matter anymore

If you start it, ride it for a while.

Carbed or injected? At this point the stabilizer is moot. Should have done that a month ago.

Sup /dbt/, can you help me out?

I was looking at a husky TE 610, see link

http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/motoren/motoren-husqvarna/m1127834977-husqvarna-te-610-e-bj-2011.html?c=a2384ef0ece270f44503df9f8598c624&previousPage=lr&pos=13

It's in Dutch, but anyhow, the pics look pretty fucking neat. What bothers me is the build year. It says 2011 (bouwjaar). The last pic shows the number plate. I looked it up and the dutch DMV website also says it's from 2011. I can't find anything of a 2011 husky TE610E on the webs though. Do you guys think it's still legit?

>>16608755
Whoops. Anyway you may be fucked. After a month all the gas in the carbs has dried up and varnished everything. Hopefully none of the jets have clogged.

Anything "full synthetic" JASO MA2 10W40 that costs around 5€/liter or less. Nordic consumer product control is so strict it's literally impossible to buy shit oil in a store, even the actual "dollar stores" carry Motul and Mobil 1.
