Everytime i see some fucboi or some poorfag driving an elderly civic in traffic next to one of those cvt equiped landbarges i did inside. Maybe honda should release the honda city or brio in the us. Even the new fit is bloated and pricey

There is no saving Honda, after they actually released the Pilot and Ridgeline

The current civic is the best one in like a decade though.
>>
>>16602452
Honda killed the Euro Accord recently and will probably replace it with the new Civic, which is much larger than its Euro predecessor
>>
Is there anything different between the sport and the si besides the tune?

im actually considering one

you know whats funny? all this time i thought the new civic was just america.. being america.

but i just found out that the new civic.. see OPs pic..

is the same in europe too.

Where are the NA engines ? The practicalities ?

It doesn't really fit into the Civic lineage. If I wanted a less practical hatchback econobox I'd buy a Mazda 3.

i'm looking for a newer econobox for work. Seen a great condition 2015 Honda Civic LX coupe for $12k.

So what's up with the CVTs?
Honda's cars with CVTs are tanking their reliability rating.

Like my 2012 Fit has a 4/5 stars on reliability from KBB and a few other places.
The next model year, the 2014, with the CVT is a 2/5.
>>
>>16602136
>Honda Civic
Where did you expect things to go right?
>>
>>16604224
I'd also like to know.
I would get the 2015 civic but now I'm reading negative shit about CVT

I really wanted the car too lol
>>
>>16603254
The seats
Possibly slightly different engine components
>>
>>16604610
Also the sport doesn't have the bigger 7 in infotainment system and climate control shit
I think the si is basically an ext with better suspension, tune, and active/adjustable steering and suspension
>>
>>16604224
CVTs in any vehicle are less reliable and require more maintenance.

They made Nissans unreliable, they did the same to corollas, and now the same is happening to Hondas. It's all for fuel economy, the customer pays, does no research, buys them anyway.
>>
>>16604726
Nissans aren't good either?
Do they have have CVTs now?

>>16604987
For Honda: the CVTs are just a huge piece of shit. While I've never personally had one, I've heard nothing but horror stories about 4 year old cars with CVTs slipping, blowing seals after a redline, and leaking fluid randomly. While they're kind of cool for boost because they allow you to stay at peak boost the entire time, I don't think they are a reliable transmission.

I still have the warranty for civic with cvt...42k miles
should i take it to the honda dealer and have them make sure the trans is doing ok so far? would it be free???!!?
I am freaking out because I wasnt informed CVT was a bad thing!!!
>>
>>16605241
I've heard changing the fluid regularly helps immensely. They will charge you to look at a vehicle and not do a repair. You're just gonna have to pay attention to it and say on top of maintenance. I don't think there is much you can do, the issues seem to be design flaws with them as it seems every manufacturer has issues with them.
>>
>>16605258
fuck man... i still have a lot to pay off and i feel like i made a huge fucking mistake. why couldnt it just be a normal transmission. i didnt even know what a cvt was at the time and it was my fault....

how much is it to change the fluid usually?

>implying four doors aren't superior

>>
>>16605272
I don't know prices, prob varies from dealer. You can always pay it off for a bit then trade it in. Like with any car, make sure you have some money set aside for repairs so you don't have to burn down your finances in an emergency. No need to panic, they can be repaired and it's not like it's going to cost you the price of the car to swap a new transmission in. My evidence is completely anecdotal. I'm sure there are lots of people who don't have issues, they aren't the ones complaining so you don't hear them.
>>
>>16605286
Ah, you got a 2015 coupe lx? Just curious, what do you like about it? how many miles you got? got often do you get your CVT trans fluid changed? Do you have issues with road noise and acceleration?

>>16605295
thanks man. I have 42k miles on mine. just hope nothing goes wrong. money is tight enough as it is and i hate regretting my decisions!

Too bad about the base 2.0 engine being a timebomb.

Too bad about the turbo only being CVT.

Too bad about the 3000lbs curb weight.

Could have been a good car at 2700lbs and 200hp.

>Too bad about the turbo only being CVT.

It's been available in manual for several months now.

Also the manual lx coupe is 2739lb, which is the lightest car in the compact class as far as I know.

http://owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2017/Civic-Coupe/specs#mid^FC4A5HEW

Even the CVT with Turbo is 2889lb, which is pretty good considering the lightest Mazda 3 (manual, base engine comparable to the LX) is 2,899lb. The more comparable Grant Touring Mazda 3 in automatic weighs in at 3100lbs.
>>
>>16605664
Also the manual lx sedan is only 3lb more at 2742lb in case anyone was wondering.

Should have been more specific. I know about the interior trim / suspension. Specifically is there anything truly different on the engine between the sport and si besides 1's and 0's?
>>
>>16605798
Well there is few things that will be different.
LSD, better brake, weird bigger wheels.
I really hope si 1.5 has vtech, if not just buy hatch and tune it.
>>
>>16604894
lol

I drive a Volt, but I rode in my cousin's Jeep Patriot, which has a CVT. It was the smoothest accelerating car powered by an ICE I had ever ridden in. The sensation was much like the Volt.

>Honda's edgy puke-grilles-all-over, complex headlights and factory rice

Honda needs to be simple, like how Mazda does it. But, I prefer the 2015/2016 Mazda 6. The new one looks a little too angery. Atleast its simple and elegant, unlike the civic's childish styling which will age heavily in two years.
>>
CVT
A strange transmission. I weird world we live in.
I see a bird on the horizon flying towards me.

Poof
Let's talk about the CVT and hate that surrounds it. I'm about to purchase a 2015 civic coupe with one and when I drove it I didn't notice anything wrong.
>>
>>16607062
The problems are that the CVT civics will no longer last to 300k mi like old civics without the CVT blowing up at least 2 times

I'm actually thinking about getting a parts car for my 90's shitbox so I will never have to buy a modern car.

People bitched about cheap plastic all over the interior. So now they threw all the plastic crap on the exterior.
