this was local southeastern USA circle track racing in the late 1970s.

These cars were raced, and raced hard, often much contact being had. A single man or a few people don't put a ton of time and money into the aesthetic of something when it is so purely functional, and that in part is what makes it so beautiful. Plus it looks badass.
