Huge mistake for various reasons. But you don't care about that cause this is either a troll thread to get people angry or you're the sort of person that asks for opinions knowing you'll ignore them and do what you want anyway.
>>
>>16593225
I personally wouldnt. For $30k you can get a better overall vehicle. But if you really like the car, i say go for it. I have driven them before and they're pretty fun to drive. Not fast but "snappy" as people say

Do not buy new, buy used with as few miles as you can find. Picked up a 12k mile 2014 model for 18k and that leaves cash to spare and is closer to what it's really worth so I'm happy
>>
>>16593232

Whats wrong with paddle shifters? Taking it for a test drive again tomorrow.

>>16593233

>>

The auto is full second slower on the 0-60. Like 7 something seconds. It's not a true DCT. I'd recommend at least test driving the manual.

>What's wrong with paddle shifters?

You're buying this car because you want a fun rwd driver, right? Listen, I own a shitbox without power steering or abs, and with a stick and a steel cable controlling the throttle. You literally can't get more connected to the road and car than that. I know I eventually have to get a new car and I hate the fact that it'll have power steering and abs, because every car does nowadays. Now the car you're about to buy already has every electronic nanny you can image, if you decide to buy it with an automatic transmission and paddles, you might as well get a boring econobox.

But I guess there's a price to pay if you buy a brand new car and don't want to drive around on someone else's farts in a second hand car. It's a shame though, you'll have more fun in that fart chamber than you think. But if you like new car smell, go for it dude.

Pic unrelated.
>>
>>16593346

How many people you know can just pull over $30k out of the bank on a new car and not have any financial issues?
>>
>>16593265
Im not an manual fag, i prefer it but in some cars it does not make sense. The 86 whoever is a car much better suited too manual. You even get a little more power from the factory. The auto in these cars are slish boxes. In this case in particular, you would be completly retarded to get an auto 86. But its your money, you are retarded anyway from buying a 86 and that price anyway so go figure.

If you want a car that's not manual try finding a used (or new if you want) Lexus rc-f they have a better resale value (if you get bored of it) and if you get it used it's very unlikely that someone thrashed it around mainly because they are kinda pricey to maintain

When I was looking at cars, the Mazda dealer offered me a brand new RX-8 for $22,500, which is a much better car so long as it's maintained, outside of the fuel economy.

I wouldn't buy it unless you really want it. The current MX5 is much better looking and the Fiat 124 is nice too with the turbo. I bought a 15' BRZ and i love it but i only appreciate it because i already own faster cars, even though they are a bit more heavier. The slower tossible brz is great for someone like me who want to downgrade in power without sacrificing its fun factor. So you might be disappointed in the premium for something like this if it the experience isn't something your looking for or whats important to you.

Get manual or don't get it. The Auto is so much worse, they didn't even bother giving the 2017 the lol5/5 hp/torque upgrade to the auto version

I think that's totally fine OP, just negotiate the price as low as possible.

Don't listen to these immature dumbasses. The autotragifail 86 was reviewed recently on Youtube (can't remember vid) but guy gave it a great review compared to the manuelle.

Autotragifail FTW. Srsly grow up, nobody cares about your waste of energy jerking off your automotive dildo. It's simply not what 99% of the world population wants or needs. Ppl just want to go from A to B, a sporty ride is fun along the way, but we're not pretending to be Fast and Furious characters.

That's definitely a good excuse to not drive a manual. However, the automatic in the 86 isn't very good, it slows the car down considerably compared to the manual. I would look to other cars for an auto.

Pic related, good dual clutch automatic.

I think the auto Mustang and Camaro are pretty alright too.

Though honestly for $30k you have such a wealth of good cars to look at that you'd have to be retarded to buy a GT86.

That british midget actor on top gear set a better lap time with a Pringles can taped to his clutch foot. Than some other people who actually could reach the pedals. I've see a 1 armed man drive stick. You can do it with a fake leg just need practice and the will to learn. If you stick till have your knee I bet it wouldn't be that hard

If you want a slow 86 just buy a Miata
>>
86 is compromised by the committee power plant.

The Fiata is significant because of the multi-air, not just the superficial... and Skyactiv wins engine design awards.

When carbon fiber miatas are running around in two years the FRS will be the worst looking toyota on the road.
>>
>>16602762
You don't get/stay rich by spending all your money. A toyota is a sensible decision that many rich people make.
>>
>>16602967
>The Fiata is significant because of the multi-air, not just the superficial...

you mean the 20 year old SOHC chrysler parts bin with economy turbo fiat has been using in EVERYTHING? its a garbage fucking engine.

the 86 has a gearbox from a WRX/S2000 at least. the fiata has a fucking NC transmission, and the ND an even smaller and weaker unit.

at the end of the day, the 86's engine produces more horses per cubic centimeter. and its potential isn't limited by a transmission which was purely put into the car as a cost/weight saving measure.
>>
>>16593225
So did OP buy it?

Why not get a wrx? They're the same price and you can get it auto if that's your thing.
>>
>>16603083

entry level WRX isn't any faster than a 86.

generally speaking I believe it will be a fair bit slower around a track.
>>
>>16603059
>SOHC
It's DOHC but the intake cam is metaphysical. It exists only as a lobe smoothing profile in the ECU. The intake valves can be operated independently of the exhaust camshaft to which they are attached via pushrods.

>economy turbo
21 lbs of boost is not economy. At full throttle you can watch the fuel needle drop.

>garbage engine
With a Fiat 1.4, whether or not you get a 500 Abarth, 124, Renegade or Dart, you get forged crank and pistons and an oil separator, shit that Subaru won't even give you on their highest tier WRX STI.
>>
>>16602801

>>
>>16593225

>>
>>16593225
So what's up nigga, you waste your money on this shit yet or what?
>>
>>16593225
DON'T

The car itself is great, but with auto it's ruined. So many people in the club here bought autos, regretted it and then sold them to buy manuals. Not only do you pay extra for the auto, but it ruins the fun and drops the resale value too.
>>
>>16602634
Adds 1.7 seconds to the 0-60 time.
>>
It's a good car, you'll be happy with your purchase.
Ask yourself if it is really worth 30k.
>>
>>16603956

This. The GT86 and miata makes you really appreciate the clutch pedal when driven on the limit.
