Should I buy a Toyota MR2 or a front engine Porsche ( 924, 928

The mr2 will be reliable
The porsche will not.

Porsche transaxles are good, when they work. Which isn't often.
Only get one if you have backup transportation.

The MR2 uses a Corolla drivetrain so it'll basically run forever.

924,928 etc are money pits. get an mr2. youll actually be able to drive it.

Just get an FC if you want an unreliable sports car with popups. Drives better, looks better, sounds better, is faster, is much cheaper to fix and much easier to get actual power out of.

As it is going to be my only car, I'd prefer to have a reliable one. I don't feel like working on it too much, so it seems to be wiser to get the MR2

Not bad if you're not giving more than one person at a time a ride and don't need to haul lots of shit.

Also for the money of a sorted 944 (6k+) you can probably find a Boxster, which will be much more reliable and still get you into that "Porsche world" if you want.

How do Mazdas ( mx3/mx5/mx6 ) compare to the MR? I'm thinking about a miata since it is hard to find an MR for a good price

All the MX cars are fun.
The mx5 obviously being the only rwd one, and imo, the least comfortable.

It isn't feasible to turbo a 6 port, compression is too high and you have to make your own intake manifold.

Porting is also out of the question if it's an only car since the engine needs to come apart, you'd spend over $2k in port work and seals alone.

Never buy an na fc if you plan boost it unless you're going for a TII swap.
