In mid-late 2016 I purchased a new fiesta ive only drove twice on salty michigan roads before washing and parking the car for winter. While the underbody looks good I noticed the exaust hangers were very rusty. I can understand having light surface rust but they look almost as bad as my winter daily which has seen every snowstorm and winter for the past 4 years and is a 1998. Is this normal? Should I attempt to have the exaust hangers warrantied? I just find it odd that a 6 month old car with 4800miles can have rust like this anywhere

Pic also related although this one is not as bad

yeah, that looks like it sucks.
>>
That's what happens when you buy cars made in Mexico.
>>
So should I warranty this? Ill do some research first to see if its covered just didnt know if all cars did this or what. My newest car previous to this is a 1998 so I was expecting something new to not get rust for at least 5 years

Most likely they won't care and say that it's normal. Also those hangers gonna rust off in another year. Enjoy dragging that exhaust.
>>
it's called planed obsolescence and it's what ford is known for
>>
Mine aren't that rusty and my accord is 18 years old, in Canada.
>>
>>16568716
>exhaust hangers

Those are pretty much a chunk of uncoated metal. That's normal
>>
What were you thinking buying a fucking Fiesta?
>>
>>16568922
Parents kept telling me to buy a new car, needed a car for work (delivery) my other delivery car had the fuel pump go and it was way too cold for me to want to fix it. Also really missed driving manual. In the end I should have just quit that job and saved the money I drive my old car most of the time anyway now that ive got it working
>>
>>16568973
Buying a new car for delivery is retarded. Just saying.
>>
>>16568973
It's unbelievable how you Americans buy brand new cars when your young, putting them on finance.
>>
>>16568983
Yes I know this I do realize it is a stupid idea. A 15 year old economy car with cheap parts is the way to go for delivery like the anon with the hatch civic
>>16568998
Its not like I went out and bought some 40k car on min payment finance. this was 15.5k paid it off in full on my second payment
>>
Should be more worried about the beta transmission that's going to shift like shit in 20k miles
>>
>>16568716
You can't warranty something that isn't broken. Idiot.
>>
>>16569213
if it's an automatic yes, I had one in college and it's the last ford I'll probably ever own
>>
>>16568716
>buying new
>ford
>fiesta
hahah! lesson learned i hope
>>
>>16568998
>not financing to build credit for when you buy a house
>not taking advantage of low as fuck interest rates and investing the money you would have tied up in the car for a much higher return
If you pay in full with cash you literally lose money

Certain steel composites rust quicker than others. I'd assume that there hangers were made out of a more ply able steel so that they can be easily bent.

Just clean them up the best you can with a wire wheel drill attachment or grinder, spray some rust treatment and then more duraguard on them. Should do the trick for many years to come.

Just make sure to tape and bag off the parts of the undercarriage around to avoid overspray.

>So should I warranty this?

The service adviser would laugh you out of the shop
>>
>>16568861
Meh, Ford probably didn't even make the exhaust.
>>
Its quite normal for those things to be rusty. They're very exposed, they're shaken a lot and the end closest to the exhaust is exposed to alot of heat, making it rust a lot quicker and lets the rust build along the rod
>>
>>16568716
This is definitely not ok on a 6 month old car. My 17 years old winter beater doesn't have parts that rusty.

>What is credit building.

A good credit score can be a huge difference (like 250$ a month) over a 30 year mortgage. But since you will never own your own home you wouldn't know that habib.
