Post rare cars
these in america
I've only ever seen 3 in person
>>16568088
>0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) acceleration time of 5.3 seconds
that's disappointing
>>16568103
>>16568106
Ive seen maybe 15 or 20 since they were introduced and they made 41,000 of them
>>16568106
I got one, I don't see em too much around
>>16568106

>>16568147
>>16568156
They were imported to merrifat.
I think only around 30-40k are here. Even less g8 commodores
I never seen them.
>>16568106
I see plenty of these
>>16568202
im fine with that i prefer the VT-VX Sedans and HSV's anyway
>>16568144
There are 3 for sale around me but they're automagics.
I really want one
>>16568107
>that's disappointing
But it isn't surprising. Maserati has been complete shit for at least 40 years.
>>16568215
lotta fun, they're depreciating pretty good so just wait.
>>16568199
Not much, I put most of my money into my motorcycles. straight pipes and tune.
>>16568147
>>16568156
common in Australia maybe, but it was sold as the Pontiac GTO in America and didn't sell all that well. 45000 over 3 model years. That's atrocious. To compare, the FWD Chevy Monte Carlo of the time was averaging about 100,000 units per year, which is also what the recent Camaros have done here.
The problem is that it was sold here as the Pontiac GTO. You see, here in America, the Pontiac GTO is a historic nameplate. It was the first muscle car of the 1960's and remains an icon to this day. But the new Holden built GTOs did not look how Americans expected a GTO to look. All 2004 models got LS1 V8's. All 2005-2006 models got LS2 V8's. There were no V6's in America.
Here's a direct comparison.

>>16568236
I agree they really fucked up with the naming of the car, even though GTO in Italian means small car in a big engine. It's not just the name though, all the rebadged Holdens in the US sold like shit, just look at the g8 and the SS
>>16568231
>straight pipes and tune.
Noice whats ur dyno?
>>16568236
how sad.
Why did all the holden exports there flop?
I mean they flopped here in aus too
From my limited experiance owning older dunnydoors and keeping up with car culture here (on facey) heres why
VZ-VF2 model year 2004-2017
>Only the hoons like them, and they usually arnt rich boomers and can only mostly afford older used models
>Aforementioned reputation for hoons literally drove away up market customer base and they get euro, jap and american imports instead.
>Very expensive here new, depreciated horribly due to GM Quality issues and high k's
>Retarded Interiors, seriously i fucking hate it and i am aussie, the 2003-2014 ones the interior was absolutely disgusting
>2015-2017 cars where great apart from a below average interior but the writing was on the wall at this point.
>new Up market HSV, Senator, Calais and "Boomer spec" luxury trims didnt really ignite the market like the older VT-VX models did back in the day
Sad really because its a great car with a good chassis (used for drifiting and track work here in aus)
Mainly it was poor sales both home and abroad and over pricing that killed it.
The "GTO/Monaro" where always limited number VT-VX Coupes and will always be rarer.
>>16568255
Is it the same thing there? Yanks i know dont like bland styling and interiors (hence poor reputation over there)
>>16568255
>GTO in Italian means small car in a big engine
Gran Turismo Omologata means homologation special coupe in Italian, which the Pontiac version is not
>>16568255
>>16568284
and it really is a shame the US Holdens sold so poorly. They are fantastic cars.
Change the styling and they sell like hot cakes.
Case in point: The Zeta chassis Camaro. The first Camaro for DECADES to REPEATEDLY outsell the Ford Mustang.

>>16568299
>Gran Turismo Omologata means homologation special coupe in Italian, which the Pontiac version is not
Right. The original GTOs were called the GTOs specifically to piss off Ferrari. That's the main reason.
Ford escort cosworth are rare now, one of these for sale for £85000 atm
>>16568311
Ford Sierra turbo cosworth for good measure
>>16568299
Looks like you seppos need to brush up on the origin of this car
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Monaro#First_generation_.281968.E2.80.931971.29
>>16568306
Rip Zeta chassis.
I'd love to get one here but they still fairly expensive to get one that doesnt have a horrid interior (i think up spec 2009 models or so have a decent interior) but im more then happy with my old 2001 VX1 LS1 based of this lol
RIP opel Omega B
great for drag racing but not so much for cornering because the front end is a bit floppy from the factory, slowly working on mine, gonna get a strut brace soon
mmmmmmm yummy :3
>>16568284
honestly the interior outclassed gm at the time, here's the car I had before my goat, which is a 2005
>>16568342
LOL it literally looks like my old car
my headunit is different and my cars manual
>>16568284
GFs father owns a 2016 Senator Sig. and I can confirm that it's a pretty reasonable car, it's looks are uncomplicated and muscular and it drives and corners fairly well for a 1.5 tonne barge. The supercharged LSA also makes the most bizzare whine out of any SCd engine it's almost shrill.
All that is great, but not for very nearly $100,000 (or about US $3.50 at the current rate)
I'd rather a new STI Lux, spend some of the change on a few bits and pieces and the rest on speeding tickets/'on the spot cash fines' from the local fun patrol.
>>16568351
damn that's a lil rough. Once you change the head unit, it's good enough.
>>16568400
that center console is aids tho i hate the way they look
>>16568353
yeah its mental money isnt it
My Calais was a 50k aud car back in 2001 which is like 80k aud today its nuts m8
they devalued like fuck you can pick most of them up for $2500-5500 for a top spec LS1 with Options
Old Toyota Crowns, in general, but especially in the U.S.
They were last sold in 1972 in the U.S. and are basically non-existent. Only ever seen one white sedan at JCCS.
>>16568453

corvette IRS and "mystery motors" woulda killed in trans am.
>>16568672
>gets T boned by girl snap chatting
>>16568714
>woulda killed in trans am.
Trans Am required cars to have a back seat, be within a certain wheelbase and an engine under 305 cubic inches
>>16568144
How do you like it?
I wanted to buy a c5 Hardtop but I just couldnt justify it honestly and I wasnt really in the v8 mood I guess.
I currently drive a Twin Turbo Legacy that I imported, but Im interested in getting a more summer car in the next little bit.
Just wondering your opinions on it.
>>16568088
Someone 3 streets away owns one of these. Worth boosting?
Maseratis are rare for a good reason. There are only so many rich retards.
>>16570259
>tfw maserati was good before it got bought by Fiat
why does Fiat have to be like the GM of europe
>>16570275
>the GM of europe
I thought that was Volkswagen.
>>16568333
>They could have made Calibra on Omegas platform
How many Sports Coupes were lost to the "FWD is the future" meme?
>>16570287
Fiat is like a even lower quality VW for mediterranean poorfags.
>>16568108
This is the first time i notice that this sorta looks like a delorean.
>>16570379
The Omega is a boat though, it would have been more of a Monza B than a compact sports coupe.
Not saying that's a bad thing
>>16568333
the facelift models have some reinforcements, but I don't know where exactly on the car
>>16570443
other way around. The Lancia came first. The DeLorean looks like a Lancia Scorpion
>>16570472
I think you meant to say Lancia Beta Montecarlo
>>16570482
Same car, different market, different name.
The US market car had pop up headlights to meet US headlamp height requirements.
The US market car also had different bumpets to meet harsher US crash test laws.
And finally, the US market Scorpions had a different engine. European Montecarlos enjoyed a 120 HP 2.0L. Americans got an emissions strangled 83 HP 1.8L.
Here's the US popup headlights fully open. Yes. They only raise about 20*
>>16570511
Just pulling your leg nigga
this was my desktop background for a while btw
>>16570631
Speaking of Scorpions, Giselle, from the 1977 movie "Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo" is coming up for auction soon.

VW SP02. Brazilian made. Air cooled flat4 at the rear and a whooping, uh, 70 bhp.
Still, rare af for you gringos.
>>16570676
Moar pictures, this time the front.
>>16568106
I've only ever seen a couple of the Vauxhall badged monaros in the uk, too.
>>16568311
Back in the day this was a working class aspiraition, now it's a rich man's collectable
>>16568652
Did they actually build any factory four door r34 GTRs?
>>16568088
Even if you do manage to find one of these in the US that isn't completely thrashed to hell and back, good luck finding parts for the damn thing.
>>16573703
Just looked it up, a Nissan affiliated tuning house made a few hundred of them
>>16568657
lel
What does it take to be rare? mine is sub 3k in north America
>>16568107
>>16568216
this is a V6 powered sporty coupe that was designed in the '80s
I should make a kickstarter about a movie where I travel across the USA to find these cars and bring them back to working condition. Guest starring Scotty Kilmer.

>>16568108
Uncle has a Scorpion; they're called the Monte Carlo in Europe. Pretty great to drive!
>>16574958
>they're called the Monte Carlo in Europe
*Montecarlo.
It's all one word. And it was called the Scorpion in America because Chevrolet had already trademarked Monte Carlo. So they called it the Scorpion as a nod to Abarth.
>>16568103
>mfw my uncle has a Lancia Montecarlo
>>16568088
This is a bi turbo?
>>16575375
no. it's a Ghibli. It was based on the Biturbo though.
