Am I the only one that likes functional hood vents. All cars should have hood vents.
But are they functional?
i live off lake erie where it rains and snows all the time
and the last thing i want is water dripping through holes in my hood onto my molten hot engine and turbo every time i park it outside
>mfw no pop up air intake
So are we talking about vents or intakes?

>OP is talking about vents
geez i wonder.

Some people sometimes wrongly call things names. I just wanted to make sure.

You do realize proper vents have drip trays underneath. ... right?
They're aimed at hot climates more so than cold wet and rainy like yours.

Yes. You're the only person who has an opinion on a topic.

Confirmed idiot.

My car is properly designed to remain clean and cool without hood vents. Vents let in a lot of dirt, grime, insects, greasy road splash, dust, and rain water onto the top of the engine. That mess then flows down into everything else.
In places with salted roads, hood vents also let in salted slush to get on top of the engine. The salted slush then corrodes connectors and metal parts from the top down under the hood. Is that desirable?
Having no hood vents would stop all that. Thus, having no hood vents actually seems like a superior feature to hoods with holes in them!

They work poorly. I've seen vented hoods and the parts under the hood all get wet.
