Sup /o/,

I wanna get an intake for my car but I am having trouble deciding. Which did you get, and why?

9/10 times it's not worth it

depending on the vehicle, you might beable to convert between the two.

pic related. 2 pipe system, currently in cold-air-intake mode. If that pipe is taken off it'd be a short-ram intake doohickey.
>>
If it would actually work: long Cai for muh torques
>>
>Which did you get, and why?

None.

My car makes more power with the factory intake.

Besides, you won't see any gains without a tune.
>>
>>16558426
Stock airbox. Keep it. Car companies install it for a good reason. Leave it alone Sonny.
>>
>>16558426
CAI, but if you can't get one that won't hydrolock your engine don't.
Also realize that in order to net actual gains you're going to have to wait until you can afford all of the following
- CAI
- Intake manifold
- tune up
And if you're getting a tune up might as well go the full nine yards and get
- Headers
- full exhaust system
That, with the tune, should net you a reliable 10 HP on most engines.
Now, if you are in no way concerned with performance and simply like the sound that the short ram makes, get that and call it a day. Unless you're retarded you shouldn't fuck anything up.
Gl hf OP.
>>
>>16558482
What if it's an old car? Surely if it is worn and OEM parts are not available on the vehicle. Even if it's not a performance part other manufacturers create more durable components for the vehicle
>>
>>16558426
cold air is good, as long as there's a place for the filter that doesn't get swamped when it rains.

overall it doesn't really matter
>>
>>16558482
By that logic theres no reason to upgrade cams, fuel pump, crank, pistons, shocks, valves, brakes , etc, etc.
Its all good enough right faggot?
>>
>>16558426
Cold air intake. As cold air is denser and the engine wont get as heat soaked as with a short ram
>>
>>16559436
There's no reason to upgrade engine parts unless you program a tune for the ecu no.
>>
OP here. I know it's not going to give me any noticeable hp increase. I want it for the sound, and I feel like it will make my engine bay less cluttered (for a SRI anyway)

>>16558483
Yeah I am gonna get a tune up later I want to reflash my ECU with hondata firmware (I drive an ep3)
>>
>>16558426
>Hey bruh, check out my jdm intake, adds about 50hp to the front wheels, cant make this shit up.
Get some stickers too op

How the fuck can an air intake be "worn?" The only part that would experience any kind of wear is the filter, which can be replaced easily. Stock intake is just plastic tubing, but it's usually designed to get cold air from the front of the car already. If you install a CAI terminating in the engine bay, you're getting warmer air than the stock arrangement.
>>
>>16558482

People like you are why shit never gets done.
>>
>>16561170
That depends on the stock arrangement. Modern cars do pretty good with this. Some 80s cars do not. Also your intake pipes can get cracked or melt. I had to replace all my stock piping because the heat from the turbo melted the plastic.
