What's /o/ thought about this as a daily?
Go for it. It's good. It's fun. It's 'yota reliable. It looks nice.
I see zero reason not to.

Nothing wrong with the IS series, comfy to drive and would absolutely own one as a daily kind car. The IS300h is very nice but a little heavy and its never designed to be 'sporty' handling but it is butter smooth on the road.
BUT
Brakes aren't cheap and all of our line up are soft pads + rotors for that comfy feel so they are pretty much gone after 45,000KM unless its a hybrid version.
Then they last 200,000KM+ easily.
Shocks are a known fail point on all of the IS's but cheap enough and they normally last until around the 100K mark before dying.
HiD bulbs aren't cheap to replace if they die but its a rare thing anyway.

I would definitely recommend it, but I would go for the 350 F Sport.
