Which is better for a used car all other things being equal.

1. A 3 year old car with 150,000 miles with regular maintenance and upkeep, pristine condition and a clean vehicle history

OR

2. An 11 year old car (same make and model let's say, jut a previous gen) with less than 30k miles also in pristine condition, regular upkeep, and a clean vehicle history

Which in your opinion, all things being equal is more important, the age or the miles?
>>
Obviously 2.

50k miles a year is horrific, especially if those are city miles.

Are you retarded.
>>
This is a retarded question
>>

50,000 miles a year? Jesus christ. The average person drives what, 15-20k miles a year.

You'd be better off realistically saying an 7-9 year old car.

Don't be so quick to call him a retard. At 50k miles a year, it may be being used for strictly expressway/long distance driving, which is much better for the engine versus 50k miles a year of stop-n-go city driving. Granted that much milage is suspect, but all of the highest recorded milage cars were used for traveling literally across the country.

And just to be clear, I'm not referencing those stats from something like a semi truck. 2 good examples of such cases are the million-mile Saab 900 and the 3-million mile Volvo P1800
>>
If you're talking about Lincoln Town Cars, if they're both 2003 and newer, get the low milage one. There isn't any difference between them at the chassis level.
>>
Depends on how spaced out those low miles are. The oil collects to the bottom of the pan over long periods of non-running and can dry out seals and deprive the top end of oil on the first start in a long time.

But assuming it's "maintained" and this is accounted for, I'd get the older car in a heartbeat.
>>
Get a 20 year old vehicle with 130k miles instead.

This.

Most recent town car are fleet cars.

Not necessarily.

If it had the 'Executive' designation it was fleet.
If it had the Signature or Designer designation it was commercial.

For those curious the order went like this for the make up in terms of features and shit

Signature - Base model Lincoln Town Car
Signature Limited - A few upgrade options
Designer - Same as Signature Limited but fancier trim inside
Signature L - Shove in basically everything, stretch another 6 inches in the back (all of it passenger leg room) everything is bronzed, chromed, and what have you, cigarette lighters and ash trays every fucking where, and rear controls for the front passenger seat to move it out of the way if you are sitting behind it with nobody riding shotgun.

Executive - See Signature
Executive L - See Signature again but add the extra length from the Signature L and the rear seat control again.

That's it.

Having to explain the difference between Signature L and Signature Limited to folks was bitch many years ago because people thought they were the same car, just one was substantially pricier than the other. Of course the easiest thing to do was to just have them sit in the back of the bastards with the front seats all the way back, then it was blindingly obvious when some 7 foot mongoloid was okay in one and stretched out super comfy in the other.
